DeAR mommy, we just purchased the books for 8th grade, you helped me so much to check and see the books you got versus the books i got. Abeka told me to call them if im missing something, well i was checking my order and it says something about English 8 video kit, and English 8 video TEST kit.....I dont think you show that on the video, and i dont have it either. I wonder if this is just the dvd s that comes with the lessons......well who knows....they havent answered me yet but i will write them again, again thanks a lot for this reviewing!!!!!!!! i do appreciate it!...PD....Do you have any videos on how to check and grade the kids? THANKS!!!

Hi! You’re right! In the video I do not show you the 8th grade grammar tests or tests key just the literature. But the dvd test kit does come with them! So if you have purchased the whole DVD kit you should have gotten the test and the test keys and the quizzes and the quiz key! I have not done a video over grading I need to add that to my list but I’m glad you found this video helpful! Thanks for commenting!

Thank you for this video! I’m looking to use Abeka next year. How much time did you spend each day on homeschooling 8th grade?

Hello! it depends on if you will be using the parent lead for eighth grade or DVDs for eighth grade. I believe the DVDs are between 35 to 40 minutes each and if you have six classes then you can plan for about 5 1/2 to 6 hours. If you plan to parent lead then you can pick and choose what you will teach and how much time you will spend on each subject. I have been using the DVD since eighth grade and I still tweak the DVDs here and there such as fast forwarding things. Then there’s the homework assignments at the end of the lessons which you can also tweak here and there-such as I have them tell me the answers versus writing the answers down. I might have them write one answer to the questions and the rest they verbally tell me. Sometimes with math I only pick the problems they are having difficulty with for them to do, but usually with math they complete all of the homework. it also depends if you are accredited or not accredited If you are accredited then you have to do the DVDs you have to watch all of the DVDs and then you have to turn in certain tests, papers, etc. If you are unaccredited, then you can do either parent lead or the DVDs and you can pick and choose what you want to do. I hope this answers some of your questions! Thanks for watching and commenting. Let me know if you have any more questions! 😊👍

Can you please give me some more information on the STEM projects?? It really is a lot of work, and what do you exactly?

Hi Tiana! The 8th grade stem project is not as bad as it seems. Directions for it are in the “Science earth and space activity and stem project book key.” If you are watching the videos for the science class the teacher walks them through the stem project which is chemical and physical weathering on limestone pieces. The teacher performs the experiment online and the children have to have a logbook to record the data. They eventually have to do a background paper, research plan, investigation, and final report, but that’s all taken step by step. If you are not doing the videos and you are only parent led then you would have to order limestone pieces and use the different solutions following the book. If you are parent led you might be unaccredited and the stem project would be optional but I highly recommend the stem project for the limestone pieces. That one was a fun one! I hope this helps you!
