    I’d love to hear how your year went or is going with everything especially the literature. Did you find it teaching intensive and did you rely on the video lessons? We also have 5 kiddos. Just subscribed. I also have a channel and would love to be friends and connect.

    My daughter is using BJU too and we love it! She will be going into 3rd grade as well. I’d be interested in how the 3rd grade curriculum is going for you this year. We are using the DVDs for the first time, last year we did parent led.

    I would love more detailed information on Earth Science. I have a 7th grader this year, and there’s pretty much NO detailed information out there for middle school Science. Would love to see all the components, layout w/ components, how the online distance learning works, etc. Thank you!

    Hey there Tiffany! 😊. I was wondering what your homeschool day typically looks like? I have an eighth grade daughter and don’t want to overwhelm her either. I feel like last year she was overwhelmed. We did every subject every day and it was just too much. This will be our 2nd year homeschooling and could really use some help/advice/wisdom from someone with experience. I would be so very grateful! ❤. Praying the good Lords blessing over you and your sweet family. 🙏🏼 🥰

    Tiffany, if they require "bekers", and "pipettes", they might require "petri dishes" as well. Maybe check for it?

    What about college prep? Won’t she be behind public high school students if she can pick and choose what she wants to do?

    • @SadieP117
      @SadieP117 Год назад +2

      Since when can public high kids pick and choose what they want? Homeschoolers literally have the complete freedom to customize their education. Public high school kids are told what to learn

      @@SadieP117 Where I live, students have many courses to choose from after they take the basic curriculum. They have lots of honors courses which I doubt they have the opportunity to participate in while homeschooled. My niece and nephew were home schooled and suffered from a severe lack of social skills. I could have homeschooled my daughter, but she needed the social interaction. I have serious concerns about the qualifications of home schooling parents to meet the educational needs of their children, because I often hear mispronunciation of words from the parents. And, what about college prep?? Getting into college is no easy task now and students who are homeschooled and allowed to do history and science a couple of days a week can’t compete in my opinion.

      Not that I need to justify our decision but just for reference... Audrey tried out public school last year. She had to test to be able to enter public school. As a 7th grader, she tested to enter the public school system as a 9th grader. We decided to have her still enter as a 7th grader, but that goes to show that homeschooling had certainly not caused her to fall behind her peers. It had, in fact, allowed her to be ahead. She finished the school year with the highest GPA of her entire 7th grade class. She will be completing a high school math this year as a middle school student. She is most certainly not behind, and I am 100% called and qualified to teach my children. I can understand where you are coming from if your experience hasn't been the same. However, those negative experiences are actually the minority.

      @cathymachia385 You are highly misinformed! I am a former public school teacher and now homeschool my kids for GOOD reason. I think u need to spend a little time in a public school room to see what it’s actually like. Public schools only care about funding and state testing scores. Period. They don’t care if kids get behind or lost in the shuffle just barely passing…. My daughters both attended public until 4th and 6th grade before I took them out. They are both now after homeschooling for the last three years WAY above average. In fact my oldest tested college level for several subjects. And she’s only 8th grade. Homeschooling allows to do what’s best for them. Working one on one without distractions. As for the “worry” you have about homeschooled kids not being social -that is a classic whine I’m tired of hearing. If u knew anything about homeschooling you would know there’s a ton of opportunities now for them. We are members of two homeschool coop groups where they have many friends of a higher quality let’s say than the misbehaved ones I saw in public Not to mention the bad influences and awful behaviors I saw while working in public school. I can’t even mention on here what happens at our high school and I’m in a small town in the south…. Definitely not somewhere I’m putting my kids and I’m very proud of homeschooling. The positives of homeschooling highly outweigh public school and yes being in both and working there gives me the right to say that. Stop giving homeschooling a bad name because of your misconceptions. I could go on and on about this. If you don’t like or agree with homeschooling then don’t watch homeschooling families on here!

      @@merediths9667 I worked in a public school for many years. Be careful before you accuse someone when you don’t know their background! Where do you live? Maybe that’s the difference in your school requirements.
