Couple things I forgot. It helps to remove the belt shield when doing this job. Also it's a good time to inspect and clean your belts and thoroughly grease the bearings.
Email me if you want pages from the Woodchuck manual sent to you.

Or go to my website and email me from there www.bauertree.com

You are doing The Lord's work posting videos like these. Thank you very much! I'll keep an eye out for other videos regarding the maintenance of these machines. I bought a used 2015 Midsouth WC-D12 but I have no manual and nothing to go off of. Its crazy to me how many years machines like this have been used, but when you look online there isn't anything to read or watch for maintaining them.
thank you for posting this!! This is an awesome video! I've got a really old drum chipper that I picked up and it doesn't feed like at all. I've seen those diagrams but dumb me was not setting it correctly until I watched this video and the way you explained it made sense! Thank you!
Glad I could help.
Matt, Thank you very much for this video and all your help.
You are welcome.
Thanks for sharing. This is a very important service.
Looking forward to more videos, specifically Altec 1317 related.
Hey Colin. Ya, I'll be making your vid soon.
@@CalTreeEquip That is fantastic, thank you.
Handy hint is masking tape knife edge incase of a slip. Pull tape off when finished. Saves bleeding everywhere.
Hello, and thank you for these videos!
Do you have any idea where I might find information for an old (1958?) Fitchburg chipper please?
It doesn't expell anything out the chute.
Thanks!
That's a tough one. I have only ever come across one Fitchburg and never worked on it, though I did chip with it a few times. Seems to me it had a spring loaded anvil plate. Email me some pics and a more detailed explanation of what it's doing and what you've try to fix it. matt@bauertree.com
Super good info bought a used WC126 and wondering about changing that blades. Do you have the blades professionally sharpened or just use a grinder in maybe a jig?
Have them pro sharpened. They use a cool grinding lathe. If you do it at home you'll take the temper out of the edge.
I thank ye.
You are most welcome.
Hello I have a wc126 would you happen to know where to get a new anvil from mine has been flipped 4 times and I believe needs to be replaced

I need to find some of the bolts where would a good spot be to look.

Do you happen to have a video on a Vermeer 1600a ? They look similar
No sorry I don't. I haven't had a BC1600 in 10 years or more. They are good chippers but the knives are uniquely hard to work on.
I need to know the torque setting for a 12-inch whisper chipper blades
Woodchuck style blades or Asplundh style?
Had a WC12 question, my clutch seems to be disengaging when using the chipper, is that normal?
my engage handle is been broke off and rewelded so something could be bent.
No, it should not disengage when in use. What kind of clutch is it?
@@CalTreeEquip i think i found the issue it was the safey was not engaged which doesn't let the clutch fully lock in and engage. The break band is wore out so the safey doesn't work correctly.
Not sure on the clutch it has a ford 300
I have had an Altec WC 126 chipper for a few months, I bought it used, and it needs new blades. Your video explains the blade replacement quite well but I am planning to replace not only the blades but the bed knife (anvil). Do you have any information on this blade, size and wear limit?
Email me and I'll send you a manual.
@@CalTreeEquip I did find a parts manual to request a new bed knife.
I am curious about the 5/8" spud wrench you are using in your video. Can you tell me the make or manufacture of this wrench and possibly where I can get one.
@@RaymondKrebill Just go to Amazon and search "5/8 spud wrench".
@@RaymondKrebill Also you really only need one if the bolts are being difficult.
@@CalTreeEquip thank you
Hi Do you know where to get a nut and bolt? Look like our chipper need to cut it out. The chipper is 2010 WC126 Thanks for sharing this video. Noni
Altec will have them. But first make sure you are wrenching the correct direction and them try heat. In all the years I have been doing this I've only ever had to cut out a few and then never more than 2 on any one chipper. Altec Environmental Parts 877-462-5832.

Is it normal to have one of knives a little higher
Yes. This is not a precise thing. If you look closely at the blades you will see that there is a bit of inconsistency in regards to how the edge lines up with the striations. Sometimes the line isn't even strait. Try to get them as even as you can but don't sweat it if they are off by a few 1000's.
Do you know where I could get a u bolt that holds the back of the table up I believe they are grade 8
I believe I just shop around until I find one with the correct dimensions. I don't think Altec has them anymore. I think I found some 3/4" cable clamps that had the correct size u-bolts. It's been a while.
Ok thanks yes I’ve tried a few nut and bolt stores but they say they don’t have the same size
@@timothycarey4629 I found some 3/4 cable clamps yesterday in my shop and I think I have them for that purpose. Try that.
Thank you they worked
I had a question about those u bolts too there’s a adjuster bolt but how do you know where to adjust it i appreciate all the help I’ve got 2 drum chippers the other is a asplundh jey and the knives are totally different from the woodchuck
