Oh my Lara Parker The most Beautiful eyes in Hollywood or anywhere she bewitched me sorry Liz as a kid even now she still has those Beautiful eyes she has definitely aged with graceful beauty or am I still under her spell, I'm so happy to say she'll always be my favorite witch !
@Tracy Tobias She, later on , was cast in The Night Stalker episode (shockingly titled) The Witch. She was the quintessential supernatural underworldly wicked character. Oh, and ... the laugh.
Rest in Peace Lara...You are now with Johnathan and John Karlen again and Grayson Hall. And so many of the great cast of Dark Shadows. Hopefully i will get there sometime also.
So beautiful..Lara you were an amazing and beautiful Angelique...you were a She-ro of mine when I started watching at age 9 in 1969. Thank you for being part of this great cast.
There are so many gold nugget scenes in Dark Shadows and Lara's Angelique was much of the best of them. She is forever 30, and my favorite and only witch.
Excellent interview for a beautiful witch we love. You can see here she has a lot of character and style. I recently revisit these episodes on Amazon Prime and just remember my fascination with her performances. She is still a remarkable actress. You have an energy that's timeless. Don't ever stop Lara.
I did too! I'm retired and it took me a month. I was watching 8 to 10 hours a day and staying up until 4:00 AM some mornings! My two 16 year old cats watched most of the episodes with me. They actively watch TV and really seemed to enjoy DS too (unless there was too much yelling!). Jonathan Frid 🧛♂️ was brilliant and Lara Parker was the perfect Angelique! 🌌
I had a copy of Angelique's Descent. I lent it to someone and never got it back, but Lara is a damn good writer. Also, when I first saw her on D/S, I thought she was the most beautiful woman I ever saw.
I have a copy of this book, which is unfortunately no longer in print, I don't know how you could loan it out, I wouldn't trust mine with family borrowing it.

Dark Shadows would have been an even bigger hit had it aired in prime time. Angelique would have had every man under her spell. Lara Parker is incredible.
@Mordecai Esther back in the day there was little for woman in movie roles. They made a few Dark Shadow movies and Lara was typecast. Omg. She transcends the word beauty. She's the definition!
Angelique was the best character on Dark Shadows, I have loved this women what seems my whole life, and even as a boy I understood her character and how hurt she was by her love for Barnabas being ignored, Amazon just loaded every episode of the original and the first season of the remake (not even close to being better) so I am watching it all over again without commercials, what a trip down memory lane.
Lara is one of the best in Daytime history!!!! I wish she would come to GH now as perhaps Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart)'s long lost mother.
I was a big dark shadows fan when I was kid I would come to to visit my grandmother in Pennsylvania and we would watch dark shadows she passed away in 1971
5:50/ God bless this beautiful, intelligent woman for pointing out the duality of Angelique. Yes, she was a free spirit, independent soul who stood her ground in spite of many obstacles. Yet deep down, she was an old fashioned girl who just wanted to be loved. Bless you, Ms. Lara Parker for giving life to such an amazing character! 🇵🇷🇺🇸😊
This woman made my whole childhood worthwhile. I ran 2 miles all the way home from school just to see her in time on Dark Shadows. Mesmerizingly beautiful woman. Those eyes!
So many of us ran home after school so we could watch it. Watching these now I’m realizing that I probably didn’t understand half of what was happening on the show. I was born in ‘62 so I was pretty young when I watched it. What I did know was that she was gorgeous and I couldn’t decide if I wanted to look like Angelique or Victoria. I had brown hair so I thought her blond hair was so pretty. I definitely remember wanting my hair to be in curls like they both wore their’s.
Such a lovely interview. 2nd Audition and nailed it! Excellent! I wonder why so many of the actors on DS, did not go on to get other roles in movies? I liked Louis Edmonds. He played every role to perfection. He was the perfect butler, brother, husband, whatever HIRED!! And he wasn't obviously reading the lines, as so many of them did.
Tammy Clair this is exactly what I've been thinking lately...I'm nearing the end of watching the show for a second time (first saw it over 20 years ago) and it really amazes me how many great actors/actresses where in that show and yet none of them went on to become huge film stars smdh...
It's the old school stigma of being a TV actor. Remember, back in the 1960's, film actors were still revered and frowned on that little box that invaded everyone's living rooms. Those relegated to television soap opera work were considered unfit to lead a big budget film. Look at Joan Bennett, lovely British actress with a modest film career that lasted nearly 30 years. In here later days, film roles became less and less. Along came TV. Even up and coming actors managed to rescue their own careers by being leads on TV shows Jackie Gleason and Lucille Ball had mediocre film careers during the 1940's. Only to find widespread success during TV's early decade. Thing of it is, even the film industry had it's version of appointment viewing. Movie theaters, from the silent years up to the late 40's used to release serials. Episodic shorts that made patrons come back and watch more! And here we are in 2020, rewatching these classic shows! How every thing comes full circle...🇵🇷🇺🇸😎
As a pre teen boy , I wondered how someone so beautiful, well, beautiful and blond haired with piercing blue eyes could be so evil but you do go through puberty and grow up. Later on of course as teenagers , her character got fleshed out and we had sympathy for her and no it wasn’t my exploding hormones . I did have a girl friend . Of course Barnabus started out as a bad man too before we got to know him . Lara and Jonathan were great Actors . I never saw any mistakes . The show still holds up for this aging Boomer . I am sure Lara knows and has heard to the ad nauseam point about all of us running home from the school bus to catch Dark Shadows .
I ran home from the school bus every day to. catch this show. I understand it better now with the different timelines and actors playing dual roles and different characters
Incredible actress and gorgeous too. I'm surprised she never gained superstar status. I never watched this show as I was too young when it first aired, but I recently finished the series. I agree with Laura. I saw her as a sad, tragic figure whose obsession with Barnabas was destroying her and everyone around her. Almost like a female Macbeth.
i loved her when i was a kid, i adore her now. just as beautiful on the inside. love her attitude. i loved the show for it's stories, fashions, characters, & getting a good scare. so many memories from back then. i wanted to b barnabas or quentin.
Watching old "DS" episodes it's fairly common to see actors struggling with their dialogue due to the sheer volume of material they had to memorize, but Lara Parker was consistently the exception to that rule. She always gave a fully realized characterization to Angelique.
I grew up watching Dark Shadows as a Kid. I definitely had a Crush or the Hots for Lara Parker. She was gorgeous at the time and still looks pretty good for her age.

Yes. Those eyes are amazing. I remember so well how interesting your eyes were on Dark Shadows. Do you have a cousin in your family called "Fontaine"? I met her many years ago and she said she was related to you.
I think she was magnificent and so was the rest of the cast what a great program I would come home from school and here the theme music and I would be glued to the TV

My favorite actress (actor) on the entire Dark Shadows cast! And one of the best actors also. I had a hell of a crush on Lara Parker! She would look at you with those icy eyes, and I was in love. When Lara talks about getting fan mail, I could understand that, but death threats??? Boy, some people are weird out there. It's like they can't distinguish and character from the actress or actor playing that character. Very strange and scary.
Graves. Am watching the series now, she has just come back as Cassandra with her dark wig. Such a stunningly beautiful lady and an amazing actress. She could play an evil witch very convincingly!!
What a beautiful, classy lady Lara Parker is! She was excellent as Angelique on "Dark Shadows" as well as in her appearance on an episode of "The Six Million Dollar Man" and as the witch character Madeline on the "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" episode, "The Trevi Collection". I think she also appeared on an episode of the TV series, "Kung Fu". I think every young male in the 1960's-1970's had a crush on her!
Angelique was always my idol. I saw a vulnerability in her, and never believed she was truly evil. The bad things she did , she did from being hurt. Barnabas hurt her. And she always regretted it afterward.
