I love watching how people don't let pointless sentimentality hinder them in purging objects they know have served their purpose. It's a beautiful quality.
The Book Castle You didn’t have to read In the Woods again (32:13), they made a tv series on Starz (called:Dublin Murders) based on the first book. The tv series is great (but I can’t confirm if it follows the book closely because I haven’t actually read it :D)
I love watching people purge things specifically books because I can’t do it unless I get really stressed about something else but want to feel productive
Whenever I am in love with a cover of a book but not the book itself I usually do a mini photoshoot with it! Like get some props and make it look really nice and if I post it on social media I make sure to have a disclaimer saying that while I did not enjoy the book, I did love the cover enough to give it a spotlight.
I have really enjoyed watching your channel, as our tastes are similar, and I share your penchant for occasionally buying books for their stunning covers. (Studies show that is the number one way to capture a buyer.) I’ve bought several new books after seeing your shelves, and appreciate you sharing your library. Cheers.
you can try stacking books not on top of other books, but underneath them. it's gonna look neater. like it's intentional and not like you don't have enough space. i would even go as far as to say it might look cool if you play with contrasts. for example, stacking three black books under white books
Watching these videos is so satisfying! :P I got rid of Milkman too. I don’t understand its hype, I found it boring, slow and confusing. Just like you said, this is what happens when you buy a book because it won a prize. :)
Ugh I loved this video - so good! I recently did a tiny little purge and it felt so incredibly freeing, so who knows - I may do more! I loved going through the process of purging with you, especially hearing your thoughts on why you were keeping/getting rid of certain things :)
Great job with going through your shelves! I think I especially like the approach of saying even if you loved a book a while ago, you may just want to retain those good memories since your tastes have changed rather than rereading it. Hope you found room for all the other books!
yaaas unhauling books is the best! I'm still very intrigued by The Memory Police, because I've heard some amazing reviews. Pity you didn't really enjoy it so much! But oh well, you've definitely made some room on your shelf for new books! 😇You unhauled so many!
May I ask: how do you organize your books? In my opinion (at least it works with me) sorting by TBR, read and favourites maybe it's easier to see your bookshelves as a hole.
Your book purges are my absolute favorite to watch! I love how casual they are and seeing what gets culled. Gotta admit that it broke my heart a bit to see you let go of the Chaos Walking Trilogy but completely understand why you did so :) Personally I would consider letting go of Rebel of the Sands. Read it myself and wasn't impressed. Thanks for another satisfying Book Purge; I eagerly await the next one!
Yay, I'm glad you liked it! :D It definitely hurt to get rid of Chaos Walking but I've passed it on to a friend and it made them really happy, so it was worth it :)
you don't have to read the Tana French series in order or remember what happened in the last one to read the next one. So you can get rid of In the Woods and still continue the series if you wanted to.
The best book purges/unhauls! 🤩 Anyone else seen the trailer of the new movie starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley based on Patrick Ness’ ‘The Knife of never letting go’? 😀
Ha, ha, ha. I have stacked books all over just like you. I am getting better at getting rid of books I have finished. Still I have to purge. What I have been doing is this: order a book, go find a book to donate. Then when my order comes, I have a spot. Problem? I placed a book out order of 8 books. I am always astonished at how many books I think that I no longer care to read. Obviously, I thought I did at one time.
Love these videos! I haven't been in reading mode for a while because work has been crazy and exhausting (though fun), but with the new craziness of Corona and self isolation I need reading mode to get through it, and this really made me want to look through my shelves and find a great read. I should also purge.. how are you doing with all the new restrictions? Have you read Vi, De Druknede?
I hope you manage to get into a good reading mode! I'm doing okay, my workplace is still open (with shorter opening times), but it looks like I'm not going to work for a couple of weeks because I'm feeling a little under the weather. I'll be fine though, I've got loads of books and all my neighbors have really come together to help everyone who has to stay home (going shopping for them etc). I'm also lucky in being one of those people who don't really mind being inside and alone for long stretches of time; I know some other people get really anxious about it and I totally get that. It's a stressful situation for sure though! I have read Vi, De Druknede and really liked it! Excellent historical fiction :D
Love to this purges!! All of your books looks stunning! I'm so in love with 20's too. The last book of the diviners is out ! It's called King of Crows :) and it is the last
Noooo Pachinko was sooooooo great! It was one of my favorite books last year :) I am not gonna lie, this was interesting, but hurtful to watch, because you got rid of so many unread books...
Wildflower by Drew Barrymore is a super quick read - I think I read it over a weekend. I really like it. Might be a good one for a cosy reading night or something :)
The Reason I Jump was a quick and interesting read. I think you might have found it enjoyable. But why is the book so thick in that edition?! Even when every other page is left almost blank as it is in my edition, it's a tiny book! 😄
Based on this video, it would be great if you could make a video of your 5☆ reads which you never specifically talked about/read way back? I don't mean classics or HP lmao, but I've seen you kept lots of books you seem to love but never mentioned before. Think it would be nice book rec for a change :)
I noticed you have Eleanor by Jason Gurley on your shelf.. did you read that one? I fell in love with the cover when I came across it some time ago but didn't buy it because I've been trying to stop buying books off their beautiful covers. So I would really love to know if you liked it if you read it. Also, you are one tough cookie, purging yourself of so many beautiful and unread books. I don't think I could do that.
I was so confused for a second when you said "A Keeper" because I didn't know whether you were talking about the title or just saying that the book was a keeper (as in a book you didn't want to get rid of...) ;D
Loved this video! What edition do you have the chimamanda ngozi adiche books in? The only thing keeping me from buying my first Adiche is not knowing which edition to buy since I eventually want all her books in matching editions. :D Bonus question: Which of her books would you recommend to start with?
Thank you! The books by Adichie that I've got are published by 4th Estate I think. I don't know if they're available anymore though, but they're really pretty and good quality :) I'd recommend starting with Half of a Yellow Sun or Americanah :)
This is my favourite type of unhaul, it feels like we are there doing it as well, makes is so much more satisfying 🎉
Yay, I'm glad you liked it! :D
I love watching how people don't let pointless sentimentality hinder them in purging objects they know have served their purpose. It's a beautiful quality.
Thank you! :D
that's the thing about purging; it is a constant as life constantly changes and so do we
Very true! :D

been so stressed this week and this was honestly so relaxing to watch thank you!

Great idea! I will try this too, thanks :)

All your books have beautiful covers. Oh my word! Gorgeous
Loved the video. Personally I couldn’t mix in my TBR’s with the rest of my books 😱
That reminded me that I need to do an unhaul too! I usually give the books a chance: read a couple of pages or a chapter
That's awesome :D
this is so relaxing to watch 🥰
Yay, I'm happy to hear that :D
😍😍😍 You have some beautiful editions, and you did great with your unhaul! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! :D

You actually motivated me to declutter my shelves 😉 thank you for sharing 🙏really enjoyed 💕

It is! I think it's worth giving The Memory Police a go, I think it just wasn't for me, you know? :D
Weird how I collected all of these books all of my life and this was sooo important to me. Now it is more important to me to purge them.
You are not that brutal.
We have so many books in common.
May I ask: how do you organize your books? In my opinion (at least it works with me) sorting by TBR, read and favourites maybe it's easier to see your bookshelves as a hole.
Some parts are organized by edition, and then the rest are just stacked wherever they fit :) So not really organized, but I know where everything is.
Your book purges are my absolute favorite to watch! I love how casual they are and seeing what gets culled. Ah, that's good to know, thank you!
I got Dutch vibes from her and I'm only 2 minutes in
The best book purges/unhauls! 🤩 Anyone else seen the trailer of the new movie starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley based on Patrick Ness’ ‘The Knife of never letting go’? 😀
I did this back in January and it felt so good to do so! Although I also unhaul books after I've read them and didn't like them that much.
Awesome! A good purge is so good! :D
@@TheBookCastle Yeah! It makes you love your shelves again actually! (besides that it creates space)
I got some recommendations from this video so thank you! This is also very therapeutic 😊
I have never heard anyone on booktube talk about Phryne Fisher! I named my Aussie cattle dog after her lol
I haven't either! And awww, that's a great name for a dog
This was exactly the video I have been looking for for weeks!
Yay :D

It's great you're getting better at it :D I'm trying to get better too!
I love your style when it comes to unhauling books! So great to watch!
Thank you! :D
Good job!
Thank you!

I'd love to see you make a pile of books that you've had for years and then tackle one book per month and giving us your thoughts on it
That could be fun! :D
@@TheBookCastle it would also make a good monthly video haha no pressure though. Create the videos you want to create
Noooo Pachinko was sooooooo great! It was one of my favorite books last year :)
I am not gonna lie, this was interesting, but hurtful to watch, because you got rid of so many unread books...
Good thing is, all of these books will probably make someone else happy :)
where are those bookshelves from?! They're so cool and I'm looking for good bookshelves
They're BILLY shelves from IKEA with OXBERG doors :)
I read the widows of malabar hill because I saw you had it; so I got it from the library and read it but it is not a keeper
That's why getting books from the library is so great
Let us know when you read Wildflowers by Drew Barrymore
Wildflower by Drew Barrymore is a super quick read - I think I read it over a weekend. I really like it. Might be a good one for a cosy reading night or something :)
Oooh, I'm glad I kept it then :D
The Reason I Jump was a quick and interesting read. I think you might have found it enjoyable.
But why is the book so thick in that edition?! Even when every other page is left almost blank as it is in my edition, it's a tiny book! 😄
Ah, that's interesting! I don't know why it's so thick :P
Tulip Fever is great! You should try it...There’s also a film based on it starring Alicia Vikander, which is really good too.
Ah, maybe I will! :D

I haven't read it yet, no! It's been on my shelves for ages though so I really should get to it :) And thank you!
I'm so happy right now! Thank you :) I feel like going through my own books. I have an alarming high number of 25 😂
Yay, I'm glad you're happy! :D
I was so confused for a second when you said "A Keeper" because I didn't know whether you were talking about the title or just saying that the book was a keeper (as in a book you didn't want to get rid of...) ;D

Did I see the Russian combination of words “русские поэты»? 😄 Who of them did you like the most? :)
Hei,
Hva heter loppemarkedet du gir bøkene dine til?
Det er Hasle musikkorps sitt loppemarked :)
Anyone who would judge for wanting all the pretty books is not to be trusted. :)
Haha xD
Keep the Obama book. I think you will regret getting rid of it.
The classic crime books are keepers
