FCCC Allison won’t go into gear and no codes.

  • No codes in allison software. Just would not go into gear. The cause was a failed electronic gear shifter, mounted on the transmission. Normally I’m used to a cable. But when this happens, tech support says replace the actuator. Now I wouldn’t be surprised if a open or short circuit for the actuator could cause this failure as well.

Same issue here, 95 holiday Rambler. 8.3 with cummins ..6 sp Allison... This one behaves as... You might try to pull out of the gas station and you can't get it out of neutral. It feels like the buttons are dead. And you can see they've been pressed brutally. Starting to look a little worn.. I'm guessing it might be worse when the keypad is cold..
Anyone know if you can open this app? Splash some alcohol in there and make contact again. Or is this going to be a $500 deal.
? If one pulls out and can't make a corner and then can't get it in to gear. You're kind is screwed. Just parking Could promote extreme stress when you're sitting there in the middle of the road, not able to shift.

Did you ever figure out what caused this? I’ve got a wtec3 4th gen doing the same thing.

I’m sorry, I didn’t put that in tbe description. I came out to replace the shift actuator on transmission. The owner of the RV called FCCC tech support and they called us and said do a service call and replace this shift actuator. I got out there and wasn’t confident it was the actuator. I thought it was maybe a brake switch or park switch,or some other shift inhibit- that would show up on allison software. But these two components I believe don’t report faults. Anyway I put the shift controller on the transmission and it was fixed. I do believe the shift control panel has a private j1939 between it and the transmission TCU. So it can display faults for the trans and oil level readiness to check. But any fault between it and the shift controller is not smart and not reported. Kind of a strange concept that I’m not confident on. But given the scenario I had makes me think, that’s just how it works.
