    I like the info you include in catch and release techniques. Many fisherman don't know proper catch and release, they just focus entirely on the "catch" part! I love your way of speaking by the way, it is very easy to listen to ^.^"

    Another great video main man! I have been fishing for a long time but I keep my mind open and continue to learn which brings me to my point, since I began to watch your videos, I have become a better angler on an exponential level. You really are a great dude and an even better teacher. I have a huge amount of respect for you and your chilled approach to just about every aspect of fishing and life in general. Since we both fish a lot of the same places, I am sure our paths will cross one day and I am looking forward to it! Till that day, take'er easy, and keep up the good work! Tight lines my friend and Namasté 🙏

    I agree with you on carp being a smart fish.I witnessed group interaction you'd have to of seen to believe!Once while fishing along a stream bank I came upon a school of carp.I was of little concern to them although I'm sure I was noticed,but as soon as an overhead shadow from above came upon them (from a hawk I believe),one of them smacked its tail on the water loudly and they all dropped instantly!That means one thing.They had past problems with ospreys,water birds,etc..And they remembered how to cope!

    do you file the barbs off your hooks? When we trophy fish in northern Ontario we took the barbs off. It is so much easier on the fish! The barbs seem to tear the skin around the mouth.

    when a big fish fights for a while you need to properly revive them. you need to grab them by the mouth or tail and slowly drag them back and forth to get oxygen into their gills.

    Leo idk if your gonna see this comment cuz it's an older video, but two things, first that very first white Koi you cuaght that was a Sholin Hook Set, second thing is I've got a private lake that I fish every single year in my West Virginia and it's got alot of different fish, I've cuaght pretty nice specimens of all of them except the Giant Carp that live inside this Lake. Tried Corn, Worms, Artificial, Bread too, but I can never even get them to bite at all. I don't see them every single time I go to my Lake but whenever I do see them, I try to sneak up, Chum a little bit around them and wait till they start eating then delicately toss my line in and they never ever bite. The Fishing Pressure isn't that much cuz the Lake is Private. I just figured that I would ask you for advise cuz your one of the best Carp fishermen that I know of that's also close to my home area???

    Hi leo, great vid and I hope your feeling better. But I have a challenge for you, I forget when but you were talking about reels and why you like spin stuff and how you have a bait caster (I believe you said it was antares dc) but the challenge I have for you is use a baitcaster for a day, you can fish for anything but since its a bait caster and I mainly see them used for largemouth or smallmouth you have to catch one bass lmb or smb your choice any size and that it. Fish with a bait caster for a day and catch one bass that it. Thank for reading

      On a side note, both koi and common/European carp are invasive here in the US, private ponds aside, most invasive species should be removed and killed. That being said, European carp are very common in warm waters here, but we don't tend to treat them the same due to them being invasive to begin with.

    The local lake I fish (usually by myself) has one koi in it and it is pretty big. Not sure what it weighs but it has some good size to it. I'm afraid to try to catch it because most of the time I fish this small lake, it's from my kayak and I'm not sure I could land it safely for me and the fish. There are also a couple equal size carp in this lake I'm afraid to fish for. Any tips? Nay on trying to land them from a kayak? Stick to fishing for the largemouth and pickerel? THANKS in advance for your reply.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  7 лет назад +1

      I would say go for it! The Common Carp (_Cyprinus carpio_) would probably take your Kayak for a ride; however, it wouldn't be very very bad. Sight-fishing for Carp is a lot of fun! Keep a can of kernel corn with you on the Kayak. Once you see them, throw a few pieces close to them. Try to make as little noise with the kayak as possible, so you don't spook them. You should be good to go with that! Tight lines and thanks for watching!

    I fish for carp in the uk and you can use up to 18lb mono for koi and you need heavy gear

      Definitely, Ben Munro! I agree with you on that. I recommended folks to get a mat and net in the video, and I will be using those once I have proper transportation to take them around. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
