Before the Activision acquisition they tracked Game pass performance, now that they own Activision, their top priority is to get as many players as possible playing Xbox franchises. They track monthly active players as a metric of success. They are at 500 million monthly active players And growing. It makes sense considering how much of Xbox is now the games themselves. Priority One is monthly active players, priority two is Game pass, priority 3 is console sales. Both Satya and Phil have said so
problem is like we saw last year with several of the investor call monthly active users does not translate to increase profit as there is a good present that do not buy anything.

They have record revenue in gaming, and more monthly active players than any other gaming company including Sony and Nintendo. Honestly, it's kind of Genius. They knew they couldn't win the console war, so they changed the rules. Ultimately people forget the reason that these companies sell consoles.... To make money from the games.... Microsoft just decided to start making revenue from every console sold across platforms and not just their own.

Etc. even the one hit they had Hell Divers didn't sell well on PS5, it was carried by PC sales.... And then the Sony team took that and spit on the PC players faces by changing their policy after launch and demanding PS login. Lego horizon bombed, Astro was critically acclaimed, but it only sold 1.5m copies. Literally every single decision that Sony has made has failed. Not really techy but why with the release of Space Marine 2 would they not figure a way to have the frist one backwards compatible so people could get to play it. I pre-ordered the frist one and loved it. When I frist herd about 2 being done I was so hyped. I don't have a working 360 and they seem hard to really find a good one. Subscribed - brand new indie Xbox dev here! So hi, I don't think Xbox is going anywhere for at least next 5 years, which is I believe a decent time frame to not worry about future. As numbers goes, it's a bit awkward that seeing how many of 200M users convert to gamers who checks "New Releases" tab (due to NDA, can't give the numbers but just know that it's crazy low amount). And from page visits to sales ratio is little bit better, but I believe majority of people who visits New Releases and would buy the game saves it for a discount day. Overall, despite sales performance is little bit under what I 'imagined' based on user numbers, I'm just glad to have the opportunity to put my games on so many people (and on Xbox devices - it's THE dream for game devs, being on consoles) and as long as Game Pass caters to Xbox keep breathing, I'll love it
I think the should go back to smaller hardware like from the 90s with transparent shells unique controllers fitting to the game like a Doom double barrel shotgun controller but it all has to be quality and be able to be comfortable and easy to use

Gamepass was gold in my opinion when ultimate was $10-12. I don't want to commit to $20 a month though. I'd rather own my games. I am usually patient and get them on sale. I'll use gamepass every now and then just to try out a few games.

No hardware = 3rd party publisher + no physical copies = more money for just uploading digital content to whatever platform. Microsoft doesn't care where you play it... they want money coming from all avenues. If they could've put gamepass on playstation & nintendo they would've of already done it. Instead they had to pivot and partner with smart tv manufacuturers & amazon firestick to bring us the gamepass app without needing an xbox because people aren't running out a buying an xbox. They had to bring the app to the consumer so they can potentially siphon that $20 every months.

Starting to think the best thing to do anymore is to buy a Steam Deck Oled for $900 or so from Best Buy, you can dock it and play via on your 4k tv or Monitor, can buy both PlayStation and Xbox games via the Steam Deck, and dont have to pay a monthly fee like Game Pass or PS Plus.. Just have to come up with $900 or so..Steam Deck is basically a gaming PC when you can dock it and play it on a 4k tv or Monitor.

I think XBox should stagger releases if they want to increase subscribers: have Game Pass first releases (1-3 months before it releases on Xbox & PC) and Game Pass only content in some exclusive games.
If they wanted to grow gamepass solely they should've just made everything exclusive, discontinue all physical games, + sell digital only consoles /w 2tb minimum.

I can't believe this whole acquisition stuff and really what is going on with Xbox Ray but what really outrage is me the most is the way that the graphical detail has been with the consoles and the way that all these games are and the thing is what drives me crazy I play a bunch of games that are supposed to be Xbox series X N S graphical ready for the system I have a TV that basically brings it out but I feel as though that it's still does not show the true graphical detail to the game or the console so
Xbox used to be the console, and they are now clearly redefining 'xbox' to mean something entirely different. The MS console business will come to an end, but they have a bright future as a game publisher, assuming they focus on the quality of the games they release.
They are going to lose a long time Xbox player. I've been with Xbox for 17 years. But the stupid things they are doing specially porting their games to competing consoles and now with the rumor of Halo and Gears. I guess 2025 is the last year for me and Xbox. Sony is doing great and Nintendo also. They have exclusives that keeps their player base coming back and Microsoft is just throwing all their games to the competing consoles no reason to own an Xbox to be honest. I guess it will be cheaper for me because I don't have to own another console and subscription service.

I've been on pc for 17 years now. Pc + switch is where it's at. Or a Steamdeck + switch ^ Pretty much access to 99% of all games. Sony & xbox exclusives + indy game / pc only games + a switch for exclusives.

As someone who owns both a PS5 and a series x, and has beaten all halo games, I’m stoked to buy and play halo and gears on my ps5 with my dualsense. It makes sense to put those games on other consoles, the more players, the more money they make. Console sales have never been their true money maker, games and gamepass are where it’s at.

About half of the xbox gamers I personally know have already switched to PS5. An insignificant sample of 6 people, sure, but it definitely is something I never saw happen in 20 years of xbox.

the one place Microsoft needs to actively support is Linux. buy since they are stuck sucking down petty cash from unsuspecting grandmas of a horrid operating system means they will absolutely not even begin to think about it. but they'll use it for their servers.
I think XBox should stagger releases if they want to increase subscribers: have Game Pass first releases (1-3 months before it releases on Xbox & PC) and Game Pass only content in some exclusive games.
If they wanted to grow gamepass solely they should've just made everything exclusive, discontinue all physical games, + sell digital only consoles /w 2tb minimum.

We rejected the Xbox One back in 2013 with their disastrous launch. Their no used games, always online and no physical games scam is the main reason why most gamers hate Game Pass.

I'm big on owning hard copies over digital copies. Call me old school but I have more freedom with it than the alternative which forces the user not just to have internet or a server pass but now a added monthly fee to play gamepass. It's another way for corperate companies to squeeze money out of the consumer. It might be effective if games weren't so ass
Owning a hard copy doesn't allow anymore rights than not owning a physical copy, you would still need internet

Game Pass is a bad idea. Has been for years now. That said, they are making Future Xbox consoles 💯. They are also going to release some games on multiple platforms. Which makes total business sense.

I can't believe this whole acquisition stuff and really what is going on with Xbox Ray but what really outrage is me the most is the way that the graphical detail has been with the consoles and the way that all these games are and the thing is what drives me crazy I play a bunch of games that are supposed to be Xbox series X N S graphical ready for the system I have a TV that basically brings it out but I feel as though that it's still does not show the true graphical detail to the game or the console so

Xbox used to be the console, and they are now clearly redefining 'xbox' to mean something entirely different. The MS console business will come to an end, but they have a bright future as a game publisher, assuming they focus on the quality of the games they release.

They are going to lose a long time Xbox player. I've been with Xbox for 17 years. But the stupid things they are doing specially porting their games to competing consoles and now with the rumor of Halo and Gears. I guess 2025 is the last year for me and Xbox. Sony is doing great and Nintendo also. They have exclusives that keeps their player base coming back and Microsoft is just throwing all their games to the competing consoles no reason to own an Xbox to be honest. I guess it will be cheaper for me because I don't have to own another console and subscription service.
Agreed they shouldn't ass exclusives to other consoles unless we get something in return. There's no reason to have new players come to xbox when all the games are available on almost every platform.

I’ve always viewed Game Pass as a perk to having Xbox Live. It’s cool that it’s included, but It’s not the reason I buy and play Xbox. I buy 99% of my games. I’ve always found it strange that some people think Game Pass is Xbox… I don’t view it that way

As someone who owns both a PS5 and a series x, and has beaten all halo games, I’m stoked to buy and play halo and gears on my ps5 with my dualsense. It makes sense to put those games on other consoles, the more players, the more money they make. Console sales have never been their true money maker, games and gamepass are where it’s at.
