To compete in reality, they need to make it a pc with xbox UI. PC has the majority of players. Sony has the best console, and I'm an Xbox original 15 years of live player. I got a ps5 Pro, and it's just better, and I hate to say it. Xbox needs to say you know what fk it to the console. Effectively make a PC and charge the PC price. People will complain regardless. Costs like 5k for a decent PC that runs everything probably more in reality. People are clearly willing to pay more for better. Because they do. Sony has stopped giving fks, so just push it out there. Make it worth the price tag and actually compete.
well I have a series s so should probably upgrade when prime comes but they're still making games for xbone and ps4 why would they bring a new console in before discontinuing those?
They need to call it the Xbox 720. It would be a nice call back to the 360, their glory days, and it would show that they are making another turnaround for the better.
But Halo and other exclusives on PlayStation and Switch, there will be no need to buy an Xbox in the future if there’s going to be less games to play, that’s my concern.
I could easily foresee Xbox’s next “console” being essentially a PC running on Xbox OS with proprietary upgradable components. There would be no more midcycle hardware refreshes, just new XBGPUs to swap out. If they designed them in a way that made upgrading components super approachable, they could pull console only players into their PC market as a result. Combine this with a handheld that could potentially dock with the PC and take advantage of the more powerful hardware. Could be amazing.
But when you go and consider when this new console does drop then you have to consider how many people are going to be able to afford to get it and be a part of the new console generation once it does really because there's a lot of people that will still be on the Xbox series X and Es can't afford depending on the price tag to go forward into the new consoles
Personally i can easily see the hybrid nature of a new xbox console. Flip between the Xbox OS and Windows OS with the press of a button on controller. With Gamepass ultimate as a direct link between them. Maybe have 2 seperate storages that you can combine or expand as needed. Then you could call it the Xbox Flip. Maybe sell a cheaper version thats just the base Xbox so that those with a computer already dont need to buy the system with Windows. Even have an option to buy an accessory to get the windows option alongside. Call it the Flip X and Flip S. Xbox all access as the gateway into it. Could even throw in an Xbox Flip P which can connect directly to the base Flip X or to your TV via a dock. A portable handheld device akin to the Switch. Something ive seen about the Switch 2 is using upscaling to reduce storage sizes by having base resolutions be 720p or 1080p and then use the upscalling tool to make the resolution now 2k or 4k. Be nice if this could be used industry wide so i dont have to download only 5 games on 1Tb of storage. Honestly id love it if Xbox and Playstation could use a cartridge system similar to Switch with said upscalling so that physical games could be given somemeaning again rather than the now, disc is but a key to play download the whole game please. Maybe use a smaller version of the expansion cardard the xbox Series use.
@@zybch That may be historically true, but I still don't believe a new console is needed. Are people just craving to throw down $600 for another console?
The jump from Xbox to Xbox 360 made sense. At the time, it was stated that Xbox didn't want to be one version behind PlayStation (Xbox 2 vs PS3), so they managed to find a way to name it so that it was similar. Where they really dropped the ball (in many ways) was with Xbox One, which showed that the decision makers really hadn't thought it through. The Series naming scheme is also very unappealing and doesn't scream "gaming system" to the uninitiated. I really hope they think this next gen system name through and choose very carefully.
11:20 I want them to do the opposite. Push their first party to only develop for the new generation if the game is targeting past the expected release date of the console. There needs to be a driving reason to want to get the next console. If Microsoft is really wanting to push a last gen version, contract out to other 3rd party studios to make the last gen versions, make some extra jobs while making sure the next generation version is THE definitive experience, because the developers are laser focused on that version and PC only.
This’ll be a big mistake by Xbox, but they’ve been good at making big mistakes, and they won’t sell many of these as the Series X is literally just getting into its stride, and the PS6 when it comes out will be 2 years newer tech.
People dont need to worry because they will still make games for current gen, when next gen is released, like they do every time a new console is released.
They always have code names for the alpha builds so Prime has to be a placeholder. That’s just standard operating procedure. So I won’t get wound up on likely a code name. Wait and see. And I’m so interested in the Xbox handheld. Ever since I got a switch I want to try Xbox games in that format.
Well if it doesn't have a disc option then i don't think it wil sell as much... I also hope the xbox handheld would actually get a disc drive option possibly in a similar idea as the refresh ps5 has but also options that through the same option can get memory and ram expantions... possibly even combination sets of all three possibly altering size..
And let me be real about bo6, it's a horiffic failure and that's even before the shady stuff comes to life like players getting screwed over because the game doesn't close even directly from steam only unless you go in from task manager and look everything up and shut it down(thus everyone is screwed out of the 2 hour money back timer on steam because of that)
I was initially hoping that they would have found a way to do it in house to downscale from the Series X to the Series S, either by using the cloud or some other kind of situation where. Like they have the server rooms which are full of the Series X boxes..Which sounds like it would be a pain, but I'm pretty sure they have some kind of system in place for something that they could probably utilize.
INB4 its called Xbox X Series 360 One. Not back compat with previous versions of Xbox, except OG 2000s Xbox. But with Ultimate you can play phyical discs from previous consoles. Not digital.
We still don't have cloud gaming in South Africa 😕 it's literally makes the sense in this market. Love gamepass I'll and die on the hill but people still want ps5 simply because the console as product is easy to understand. Series S is the goat 🐐 feel like it made for us.
What have we got in this current generation that they are thinking of selling a new one? I wonder if people will be eager to buy the new one considering how this generation was treated.
I saw the next xbox is supposed to run on one of there tv’s that there coming out with and the graphics are going to be running off how high your internet speed is
The biggest issue of "next-gen" Xbox is, that its still treated as a console. Xbox needs to go towards a low-cost but somewhat highend pc-console. We need mod support, native M&K and hell, maybe even something like Steam. Then Xbox would have a huge advantage against Playstation, we would have so many more games...
Starting to realize they are making more hype about WHAT THESE consoles and PC graphics can do....but like televisions and 8K the content isn't matching.
Ngl, all I'm looking for in the next Xbox is some graphics improvements in Fortnite. If the resolution is higher in 120hz mode, and/or the graphics in both 60 and 120 hz mode are significantly improved (probably max settings like on PC) than I may get it as long as it isn't *stupidly overpriced*. 600 CAD was already enough for the Series X, and if the next console ends up bring something like 800 CAD, I'm waiting until the price lowers, or my Series X breaks down.
The name "Prime" isn't bad, it just has a lot of baggage attached to it already. Amazon Prime, Optimus Prime, Logan Paul and KSI Prime...
Omg we’re nearly 5 years deep into this generation already
Anyone who buys an Xbox after this generation is wild
Not if it is an Xbox/pc hybrid with the Xbox os that can play your steam gog and epic games.
I bought a ps5 years ago after owning all the xboxes. I'll never buy a playstation again..
A console having Steam would be a huge bonus. That also means you can play Sony games on it, and 1000's of games that were never released on consoles.
Even if a new xbox comes out, the ps5 probably will keep 3rd party support alive for series s/x until ps6 comes out
well I have a series s so should probably upgrade when prime comes
but they're still making games for xbone and ps4 why would they bring a new console in before discontinuing those?
Is it gonna come with new games as well please. 4:14 why does Phil Spencer look like he fought imperfect cell from dragon ball z got drained halfway
I love how Playstation doesn't use a stupid name every year.
They need to call it the Xbox 720. It would be a nice call back to the 360, their glory days, and it would show that they are making another turnaround for the better.
I personally love that you call it Twitter 😂😂
But Halo and other exclusives on PlayStation and Switch, there will be no need to buy an Xbox in the future if there’s going to be less games to play, that’s my concern.
I've never watched a video from this channel and i got a notification it must be beacuse I've searched Xbox related things recently
We should all be demanding deep dive full immersion vr.
I just want to buy a Series X but it's nowhere to be found in stock in Europe
But when you go and consider when this new console does drop then you have to consider how many people are going to be able to afford to get it and be a part of the new console generation once it does really because there's a lot of people that will still be on the Xbox series X and Es can't afford depending on the price tag to go forward into the new consoles
Well unless it's a console/pc hybrid xbox has nothing to offer when everything is going to Playstation, Nintendo, and PC
Happy with my Gears 3 360, One S, and Series X for a while now. 👍🏼
XSX released Nov of 2020...we don't need totally new Xbox even in 2026.
There has only been one gen that lasted 7 years (360/ps3). 6 was normal before then and I see no reason to drag it out any longer.
Series is the worst name of all. One X then Series X is too confusing, not to mention the form factor of series X is sooo big
Are we getting a new console and at least 8 to 10 games at releases for this new console or are we going into another xbox series console dilemma 🤔
As long as Phil is linked to XBOX, XBOX is going nowhere, offer nothing and do nothing worth buying. Wake up MS
I actually think Xbox Prime is an appropriate name for what will almost certainly be the final Xbox console
PSSR may only be avail on the PS but the PC Ports of PS games support DLSS and FSR so that was a pretty weird and wild thing to say.
This’ll be a big mistake by Xbox, but they’ve been good at making big mistakes, and they won’t sell many of these as the Series X is literally just getting into its stride, and the PS6 when it comes out will be 2 years newer tech.
Why bother. Call of Duty 6. Was made for PS4 and Xbox1. So much for "next gen"
Whatever the next Xbox is, it better bring something unique to the table.
you mean extra storage? xD well...
And let me be real about bo6, it's a horiffic failure and that's even before the shady stuff comes to life like players getting screwed over because the game doesn't close even directly from steam only unless you go in from task manager and look everything up and shut it down(thus everyone is screwed out of the 2 hour money back timer on steam because of that)
I'm a PC gamer who started on the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One then i went to PC and i won't switch back but I'll keep my childhood consoles
I ain't getting a new xbox my xbox one still performs great to this day
Jez Cordon responded to this immediately after tweet (which was a few days ago now) shutting it all straight down 🍩
Xboxtimus Prime! Here we go 😂😅
I’m still useing the black first Xbox I can’t wait till the new one comes out
What's the point in new tech if it will never be utilised to its fullest because continuing to develop for old tech holds it back?
I was initially hoping that they would have found a way to do it in house to downscale from the Series X to the Series S, either by using the cloud or some other kind of situation where. Like they have the server rooms which are full of the Series X boxes..Which sounds like it would be a pain, but I'm pretty sure they have some kind of system in place for something that they could probably utilize.
With no exclusives now is there any point to buying an Xbox?
Prime makes sense though, if it's true that they are licensing out their Xbox OS/app or whatever it will be.
INB4 its called Xbox X Series 360 One. Not back compat with previous versions of Xbox, except OG 2000s Xbox. But with Ultimate you can play phyical discs from previous consoles. Not digital.
If the next xbox doesnt have an optical media drive im not getting it. BUT the only thing that could chand my mind is steam integration
Already preordered Xbox prime 🍻
We still don't have cloud gaming in South Africa 😕 it's literally makes the sense in this market. Love gamepass I'll and die on the hill but people still want ps5 simply because the console as product is easy to understand. Series S is the goat 🐐 feel like it made for us.
What game was at 4:50 with the big spider?
What have we got in this current generation that they are thinking of selling a new one? I wonder if people will be eager to buy the new one considering how this generation was treated.
I saw the next xbox is supposed to run on one of there tv’s that there coming out with and the graphics are going to be running off how high your internet speed is
If Xbox wants to dominate the market, they should integrate Steam. I would INSTANTLY buy that
The only reason you want to get an xbox prime is to disable vertical sync otherwise what is the point
Why would I get an Xbox when all their games will be available on other consoles? There is even a rumor that Halo is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
I just got a series x
Xbox could be good. They have all the resources, but they keep fumbling for years because they run the gaming division like a bunch of idiots lol
Just continue to make games for the series x moving forward for a while and I’ll be happy.
If the new Xbox is pc too does that mean it will be able to run triple monitors
Naming conventions have never mattered to me. It’s either good or it isn’t.
Starting to realize they are making more hype about WHAT THESE consoles and PC graphics can do....but like televisions and 8K the content isn't matching.
I think pc is the way forward or wait to see if steam releases a home console pc hybrid.
I would definitely love a handheld
You dont need upscale with a 4090.
Na bro if you genuinely care about the NAME of a console then you have your priorities mixed up😂
The name "Prime" isn't bad, it just has a lot of baggage attached to it already. Amazon Prime, Optimus Prime, Logan Paul and KSI Prime...
So hear me out:
We had the OG Xbox (1st console)
Then Xbox 360 (2nd console)
Then Xbox One (3rd console)
Currently it's the Xbox Series X/S (4th console)
...
So how about for the 5th console calling it Xbox Epsilon (5th letter of the Greek alphabet), or something related to the number 5, seeing as it will technically be the 5th console from them?
Underrated comment lol
Who cares what it's called. It could be called Xbox POS and I'd probably still buy it. I buy a new system every 5 or 6 years. Because I play it almost everyday and they get worn out. Names mean nothing to me. Show me hardware and numbers.
as soon as i heard prime, i said in megatron's voice "xbox what?"
I can't see Amazon sitting well with it being called Prime 2bh. So I'd be amazed if that ends up being the final name.
