- The Home Menu is a ribbon or collection of tiles where you can easily find your favourite apps. However, it annoyingly automatically launches each time you start your LG TV. This feature can be easily turned off in the TV settings. I also show you how to stop paid ads from appearing in the Home Menu.

@@AdamSharkey523 lol, I have 65” tv and a 48” i use as a monitor, the tv is 2 years, and I thought you could turn it off, I just assumed it was a wired Korean standard…🤪 It has ALWAYS annoyed me, feeling pretty foolish now🤬

This also happened to me a few days ago, and I couldn’t figure out why it changed. I Googled the issue, and your video popped up. I saw the comments with it being connected to an update so it was a lightbulb moment. This was so easy and straight to the point.

Yes! I needed my smart OLD to not be smart and only use HDMI input feed. WIFI is also disabled to discourage unwanted 'updates'. They want to place ads? - they can pay me then for that privilege.

Another advice: If you don't like the new full screen home, you can change it back to the 'classic' LG interface, which is is at the bottom of the screen and allows e.g. ongoing TV program to run in the background while you browse the Home Screen. You can do this by going to Settings -> General -> Home Settings -> Home Style -> Updated Home/Basic Home. Select "Basic Home" and you're back to the old LG Home Screen. I just did this on my CX, and can't be happier to be back seeing the TV interface as it was when I bought it.

Not there anymore? I can only see anything that displays after clicking on general the closest that resembles what you said is going to additional settings general > system > additional settings > home settings > [with home autulunch and home promotion] and that’s it !

We just got a new LG tv for someone with early Alzheimer’s, he can start a movie in the Blu-ray but can’t switch the input and I have been so stressed wondering what to do, I can show the input button countless times but still can’t remember. Now it’s staying on the hdmi for the player and I can breathe easy. Thank you so much! May seem like a little thing but it was a big one to me. 😊

Thank you so much for this video! I thought there was something wrong with my firestick connection with the hdmi port 1. I couldn’t figure out why all of a sudden when the tv turned on I’m on the LG screen. This was the fix I needed. It was driving me nuts for the last few months.

For my C3 that I just purchased in May 2024, the menu is somewhat altered, but knowing there is an option helped me to no longer have to select my computer's input every time I turn on the TV.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've had this LG TV for a couple of years and I mostly just ignored the annoying pop-up across the bottom of the screen, but they recently installed and "upgrade" ... that makes my TV after about 20 seconds go BLACK and then display the ad screen and I can't see what I turned on the TV to watch! Completely unacceptable!!! But I think this may have solved the problem. The menus are a little different on my TV, but I was able to dig through the menus and find Home Auto Launch and turn it off, along with Home Promotion. Hard to tell yet if that did the trick because that nuisance usually only happens when the TV has been turned off for a long time, but I haven't seen that annoying screen yet and I'm very hopeful...
UPDATE: It's been a day and that stupid screen hasn't shown up once! Thanks again!!!

This only started happening to me recently. There must have been an update. The menu system has changed slightly from this (it's no longer an 'additional' setting), but this was enough to get me to where I can see and change the new item. Thanks!

Thank you so much this stupid crap started after a update. It you should just pop up for a few seconds now it will not go away. I may using a full surround sound setup so I usually don't have to even touch the TV remote. It was very annoying that I had to get the TV remote every time after this update so that my TV wouldn't be held hostage anymore.

You're welcome! Yes the mouse can be annoying. If it appears when you don’t want it to you can make it quickly disappear by pressing a direction on the remote (up, down, left or right). Using the direction ring that surrounds the mouse wheel/button.
