    Back in my film only days, I shot weddings with medium format film cameras and 200 watt-second flash units. For no-flash photos, I used Nikon SLR and/or Leica M6 rangefinder with fast lenses.
    In the digital age, I shot weddings with dSLRs and flash units. For no-flash photos, I used Fuji mirrorless and/or Leica M10 with fast lenses.
    `
    The fast lenses I used with my Leica M6 and M10 included 21mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4, and 90mm f/2.

      Thanks! Yes fast lenses are a must! 35/1.2, 50/1, 90/2 + flash as you say. Thanks for feedback.

    Great great video. Gave me the confidence to use my M240s in an up-coming wedding. Video is spot on. Leicas are great, optics are better. Thank you so much!

    Hi Matt. Not sure how you've achieved it, but the background looks less distracting now, but still with some interest. A big improvement. I don't think I've ever seen a wedding photographer using Leica, so it's probably why your images are so different. Love that image of the bride peeking around that door. . .

      Thanks for the feedback. Quite a few of the photos were shot with a Noctilux which gives a unique look ..but it takes some confidence to use (very shallow DOF.. easy to miss focus)(I used to be quite good with M cameras before getting the CL which makes it too easy ..meaning you can lose your edge with an M :)

    Excellent presentation and beautiful pictures, as usual. I am curious - do most of your clients prefer color rather than black and white photos? Thanks

      Thanks Steve, most clients prefer colour, I prefer b&w so offer discounts for couples that opt for b&w.

    I would use two SL2. And one Q2

      Thanks Jon! I think I’d use as SL2, Q2 and M10R if money didn’t matter! I like to have one RF camera on me.

    I had to laugh (with you) about that 200mm F2. I had one and while I loved what that lens could do for portraits and smooth backgrounds (not to mention wicked fast focus), it was a brute to carry around. I traded it in when I sold off my Nikon gear and switched to Leica.

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  3 года назад

      Yes the difference verses a small M lens is just ridiculous isn’t it haha! I’ll try to show it in a future video (not had chance to sell it yet)

  • @iello911

    ... of course, if cost was not an issue, another great Leica option would be the S (medium format), fairly large to carry (but not more so than most DSLRs), with BIG - and hyper expensive - lenses, and phenomenal image quality. For us mere mortals, your choices are great and will all deliver excellent results!
    P.S.: Today's video quality was very good, audio a bit sub par.

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for feedback, sorry yes I forgot the S! A house brought one to a workshop once, great camera but limited high iso not suitable for most weddings. This video shot over 2 days and before last video. Can’t remember if using old mic then.

    Great video and very detailed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Quick question, which would you recommend for professional photography, Leica Q2 or CL?

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! Q2 will give you the larger file size and great for weddings being a fast 28mm. I don't currently shoot enough weddings so I would recommend the ..SL! (I have the CL too but the SL is FF). Both let you use any lens. The size of the CL is great but the SL is more of a tank and a good workhorse as a pro body (2 card slots etc). See that video.

    Do you need to spend time in post processing these images? Because the colors from these pictures look amazing! Also, how is your Panasonic S5 images compare to the Leica's ?

    Hi Matt! Great video, forgive me if I missed it but how do feel about the CL with the new 24-70 f2.8 Leica lens for weddings!
    Also, any idea as to when the new lens will be available for purchase? Thanks

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  3 года назад

      Hi Ron, I recorded this a few weeks ago and it took so long to edit that I posted the previous video first. During that time I tested the 24-70 on the S5 in London (Leica Mayfair has only just received it so it is still very new). Excellent lens and a nice idea to use on the CL. I am considering it myself too. Counter argument it to buy Sigma as Leica lens is joint project with Sigma. Zooms are very useful for weddings but they give a more standard look verses fast primes.

    Hello Matt! I am currently using a Sony A7iii camera with Contax Carl Zeiss lenses and the skin tones and overall colors are not up to the lenses quality, I believe. I think Sony has the worst color science and before I consider jumping to a Leica SL2-S I would like to have your opinion, please. I am a wedding photographer and your reviews made me consider this Leica very seriously. Maybe I will get a Leica lens latter on, or even probably a Voigtlander lens but, have you ever tried the C/Y Carl Zeiss lenses on a Leica? I appreciate in advance all you assistance. I subscribed happily to your channel. Thank you.
