I first heard this song in 2008 or 2009 when Ingrid was the opener for some band (I forgot the name of) at a concert at the University of Rochester (I was a student there). It was after a blizzard and half her band couldn't make it to Rochester so she performed her set with just a ukelele and her drummer. She invited someone from the audience who knew this song to sing with her and it was just a really sweet and chill experience I'll never forget. 😊
We sing this in choir as a warmup, it's my favorite thing ever. We have done it in a round with 40 people each singing their own part, it sounds so cool
You may not see this post since it's been 3 years ago, but I have been Grey's binging on Netflix and just heard this...I am in awe and cannot stop playing it over and over.....
And no matter why someone is listening to it, it's speaks so profoundly to everyone. No matter your loss, your pain, this song captures it. Incredible song.
This song is so cool!! I love how quietly the music is in the beginning but then it slowly grows throughout the song. Then the ending with all the parts playing all at the same time is SO COOL and SO GOOD! ❤️❤️ I love it!!
The sky looks pissed The wind talks back My bone are shifting in my skin And you my love are gone My room seems wrong The bed won't fit I can not seem to operate And you my love are gone So glide away on soapy heels And promise not to promise anymore And if you come around again Then I will take, then I will take the chain from off the door I'll never say I'll never love But I don't say a lot of things And you my love are gone So glide away soapy heels And promise not to promise anymore And if you come around again then I will take the chain from off the door (x6) So glide away on soapy heels And promise not to promise anymore And if you come around again then I will take Then I will take, then I will take The chain from off the door The End
I could not contain myself when you played this at the Norva in Norfolk! I travelled hours to see you and I was not disappointed. Thank you for sharing yourself!!
We are singing this for choir and I'm so psyched! It's so beautiful, though we are only making one change to song. We are changing the first line to something different from the last word used but other than that thank you Ingrid for a great SONG!
I hate when people come to the original song and say the cover/imitation is better, when the song is clearly written by and for the artist... Just shows that our society has no appreciation for original music, only the newest shiniest style available.
it being the original is irrelevant. some people just prefer the styles of those that did the covers, Its a really crazy thing called an opinion. Personally I like George Blagden's cover of this but I still wanted to see what the original was like because I was curious.
I don't know why, but I always laugh a little when she says that the sky looks pissed. I don't really know why I find that so funny, but I guess it's because I don't hear that very often.
I used to listen this on my mp3 on repeat. At the end the canon fades from one ear to the other. It was like an EMDR session before I knew what it was. P.S. Sorry for the song rights. It would be great to give back by going to one of your concerts if you come to EU soon. ❤️🩹
I think it's about letting everything you can't control, little things just slide by. You know, the way you slide below you when you've got soapy feet. Big things can easily stop you, but the little imperfections in the floor can't.
One of the most underrated artist out there.
Ikr
JulesandVannah totally agree
I 100% agree
Agreed!
How does one determine...under rated status ?!?

“My bones are shifting in my skin” is probably the best way to explain anxiety to the people without it
That sentence is very chilling. A chilling statement.
You're absolutely right
Yes
Right? That part breaks my heart every time I listen.
Or a large balloon in your chest which intermittently swells, pushing all of your organs aside.
That's how it is for me, at least.
CC has great taste indeed
Indeed she does
Cecilia also brought me here haha.
Otomos... 💚🍵
@@SerenityNow39 Me too

SO beautiful. Just sits you in a trance, you can honestly get lost listening to this. So simple, but so complex
And no matter why someone is listening to it, it's speaks so profoundly to everyone. No matter your loss, your pain, this song captures it. Incredible song.
I agree. I get lost in the lyrics of this song. It is beautiful.
This is such an excellent song. One of my favorites by Ingrid.
This was my dance song
I watched girls from dance do this
+Mimitube my old dance coach always use to play this song I loved it! I always wanted a dance to this song for competition
the best is "everybody"
Yoanna A I'm actually doing it for a comp piece
This song definitely hits different when you interpret the relationship as a friendship rather than a romantic relationship 😭
What about both?
This song works really well for CC's voice
the most interesting part in this song is that the chorus eventually becomes a chain of words in melody itself.
So lovely!!

Thank you greys!!!

Listening to a song many years later and understanding it as an adult is such an experience ❤️
"My bones are shifting in my skin......" Absolutely astounding!
Oh. My goodness
This song is filled with so much emotion. I really like it because it speaks to me about being free and taking the chains off!!
You can actually hear the pain in her voice.
Aadila Moolla I heard or read somewhere that she was giving birth while doing the vocals for this song...
@@Oh_I_Will Why the hell would she do that? That must be wrong.
Totally.
Real💔🥀🪦
Kinda find it hard to believe that singing was a priority for her during birth
This song legitimately changed me like holy shit
Definitely my guilty pleasure song
The sky looks pissed
The wind talks back
My bone are shifting in my skin
And you my love are gone
My room seems wrong
The bed won't fit
I can not seem to operate
And you my love are gone
So glide away on soapy heels
And promise not to promise anymore
And if you come around again
Then I will take, then I will take the chain from off the door
I'll never say
I'll never love
But I don't say a lot of things
And you my love are gone
So glide away soapy heels
And promise not to promise anymore
And if you come around again then I will take the chain from off the door (x6)
So glide away on soapy heels
And promise not to promise anymore
And if you come around again then I will take
Then I will take, then I will take
The chain from off the door
The End
Thanks!
It's in the description.
I can feel her emotions in each of her songs.... you are my role model, Ingrid:).
Ingrid Michaelson is my favorite artist of all time, even after all those years. Great. Inspiring. Brilliant.
It's so cool to listen to this with good quality headphones omg
Finally i found this song. I have been looking for soo long
When these lyrics finally make sense, after many years, it hits hard.
There's something so ridiculously perfect about her voice.
I really am amazed that 48 people gave this song a thumbs down. Such a beautiful song. So many great songs in Grey's Anatomy and this is one of them.
Listened to this in my 20s.. im now in my 30s with 2 kids. Still, enjoying ingrid's music. Timeless!

We are singing this choir and I had it stuck in my head and I found it.
absolutely one of my favorite songs...
I hate when people come to the original song and say the cover/imitation is better, when the song is clearly written by and for the artist... Just shows that our society has no appreciation for original music, only the newest shiniest style available.
Different people like different things

Thank you George Blagden for introducing me to this beautiful song.
So beautiful with the repeats
We're using the round part as a warm up in our senior choir. It's quite pretty with that many singers
This would be perfect for a scene in Chicago Fire. Beautiful voice!
Heard this live last night and it was absolutely incredible.
I sang this with my cousin as karaoke. I remember everytime I hear this song. She introduced Ingrid Michaelson to me. Love it!

"Promise not to promise anymore" mhm
I don't know why, but I always laugh a little when she says that the sky looks pissed. I don't really know why I find that so funny, but I guess it's because I don't hear that very often.
Sam Galloway she means angry. Like the sky is dark and stormy. It doesn't mean drunk in America.
I know what it means, but it sounds funny that the sky is pissed at you. Like, what did I do to piss you off?
Zara Wasique 💀💀💀
True dat lol. I really like that verse tho
Best first line, EVER!
I found this song for free in iTunes back to 2010 or less. Lol I knew loved it since then! ^-^
