Aesthetically this is one of the most beautiful coasters I’ve ever seen. The way they really planned out it’s track on a hill going through the forest at different elevations makes it stunningly cool
I agree. The yellow track really contrasts nicely with the woods surrounding it.
I’ve ridden a lot of roller coasters in my life and I rode this one about 32 years ago and I have never forgotten it.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg does a fantastic job using the terrain to maximize the coaster experience. Loch Ness is not the tallest or the fastest coaster by any standard, but it's a truly unique riding experience because of its terrain-specific layout.
And to think the track is welded . A lot of work went into constructing this ride
@@TopEye64 Yeah and how many other roller coasters fly through the forest?
Been watching roller coaster videos for a while now and I must say, these roller coasters have way more personality than I have.
😂😂 this is a golden comment
geez you deserve a award for that comment!
This comment is so friggin hilarious...I read it out loud to my mom and she and I were both dyin bro. It proves you have more personality then any goddamn roller coaster when you can make people laugh. 🎢🎢🎢🏆 For real!!
ikr they always have some type of story, that’s why I love it!
Roller coasters can't have personalities idiot
Lmao who else watches these for fun while you’re bored
Guilty 😂
I vomited 2 days ago on this ride (worth it )
I watch these for fun while I'm NOT bored.
I saw U once like 3 yrs ago!
Me
This was my first ever coaster ride. I would definitely recommend to anyone, as far as I know I rarely breaks down, plus it rides pretty smooth. Spent my childhood at this park, so it might just be the nostalgia talking.
“as far as I know I rarely break down”
“pretty smooth”
same, this was my first rollercoaster too and it's absolutely perfect to start with. Don't start with the Griffon, go on loch-ness monster first and know what you're getting into. Then you can actually enjoy the Griffon and not freak out haha.
Verbolten is also a really good one to start with, I would say the big bad wolf but it’s gone :( this coaster is really old and it’s starting to show its age, completely safe to ride still but the last I heard is that it’s not so smooth anymore
Thank you for sharing this. I have a heart condition so sadly I can't go on roller coasters :( :( However, by watching this, I was able to ride a roller coaster without actually getting on one. Thank you for allowing me to do something via my laptop that I will never be able to do in real life
This is so sweet and one day I hope you can get on a roller coaster even the lamest one you are at least on a roller coaster plus you already are on a roller coaster with a heart condition
Awww... I feel bad for you, I feel your pain and I wish I could help...
So very sorry
So sorry to hear that😔 we love you 💗
Aww that’s so sad! You should try 360 vids! The look really cool!
It's funny to think that this was the scariest ride around when it opened almost 40 years ago. Now, it's something a kid would ride to warm up for the bigger coasters.
Airboss that's me
Ikr
Airboss, I first rode it a month after it opened. I was 7 at the time.
Ah, my first roller coaster with a loop. The memories
Was it bad? Im about to go and i never went on one with a loop
@@clipsbyhoward1685 it was a bit rough, but still quite enjoyable
My first coaster ever
@@clipsbyhoward1685 i went and didn’t know it had a loop
*loops*
Who is here during lockdown and missing their previous roller coaster rides just as me👇👇👇👇👇
Nisha Vaidya meeee
Nisha Vaidya me too

rip me
Nisha Vaidya Me😭😭
This coaster is almost 40 years old and is still one of the best in the park. I first rode it back in 1985.
Exactly!
It is open since 1978.
When you watch the video
Me: this doesn’t seem so bad after all
When your actually on the ride
Me: OH SHIET
you’re*
Went on it with a friend, he was mad at me for taking him on it
That's exactly how I feel in about 2 weeks in going to get to sea world to ride emperor in the organization it doesn't look bad but I know I'm going to screaming my head off I love roller coasters but I've never actually rode a big coaster
@@jaydens.2526 we found grammar nazi here. All hail grammar
@@squidyloogames4249 Did you go long enough ago to take your friend on Drachen Fire? Because that definitely would have ticked him off.
Looks like a fun ride! That tunnel in total darkness is kind of unique, and it lasts for a long time!
They used to project images of the monster on the wall in the dark portion. I guess they stopped.
I just realized I was responding to a channel I really like. Abandoned mines is great! How crazy is that?
It Is fun it’s my favorite ride
I’ve been on it it’s so much fun
@@CasperInkyMagoo There also used to be mist inside the tunnel as well. So it was an awesome way to cool off on a particularly hot day.
You haven't lived until you've ridden this at night. My first coaster ride ever was on the Loch Ness Monster.
Kerry Cutler
Well now I obviously gotta try that lmao
Same I was like 7
Agreed. I did that at Howl’o’Scream. So fantastic, especially doing the double loops in the middle of the park and seeing the rest of the park lit up at night.
But the park closes at 8
Mine was the smiler
I love how this ride goes through trees! Seems like a beautiful and peaceful ride.
Michelle Joyce when I went there were some deers chilling in the grass patch you can see at 2:44
Lol same i know
Not peaceful but definitely beautiful
Loch ness monster is hands down one of the best coasters. It was my very first when I was finally tall enough to ride them, and it's still great everytime I ride it, decades later!
My favorite is Pantheon Griffin
*Literally no one screaming*
Then there’s me: AHHHHHH
🎢
I would do more than scream, I'd pass out at the fall
Yeah true
The only timed they screamed was when they went upside down
ItsNaomi then there’s me on the left, dabbing my hands off so I look cool while screaming.
OMG! I'm having Flashbacks !! I rode this coaster on it second day of operation. Glad to see it's still running. At the time it was one of the few with inversions. Steel coasters were just beginning to take hold. GREAT MEMORIES.
Looks like it goes 10 mph wtf
They've slowed down the footage, it's actually fast as hell
korey gonzalez it go’s faster
Charlie Hogarth ikr I’m going to ride the coaster this month
I was thinking the same thing. Im over here like... Um.. Wtf.. Any minute now its going to speed up. Does it even break 40mph??
Jahsire Williams I honestly need to leave uk the rides in the USA are amazing
It’s one of Arrows best coasters. The layout is quite good. The interlocking loops are a clever touch, but the coaster also has a decent first drop, and one of the best coaster tunnels.
I just really hate the feeling of falling 😖 i love really fast ride not the fall
Sorry to break it to ya, but how scary the ride is, mostly is determined by how deep the fall is (ex kingda ka 418 ft drop)
What are you talking about? That's the best part of the rollercoaster, you hate it at first, but that's what made it scary/exciting
Same here
Sammmmmmmmmeeeeee
same.
Such a huge part of my childhood-countless summer days spent here growing up...thanks for this trip down Memory Lane.
People in the comments are saying "This is a warm up ride" and I'm over here trembling because of the drop lmao
Mochaa lmao I chickened out 4 times in line. But once I did it once, I DID THIS RIDE LIKE 400 TIMES😂😂😂
Ahahha I know right
Someone same same, drops on roller coaster get me the worse
bro that drop is nothing compared to the leviathan, its much deeper and way faster, this ride would be a proper warm-up for the leviathon
Tejass Raveendran Steel Dragons drop is painful.
My anxiety would sneak up on me and be like "hello darkness my old friend"
lmaoo
Hi mia
Mia Carrell I love that song!!!!! Hello darkness my old friend I’ve come to talk with you again!!!!
Mia Carrell Same
Mia Carrell weird that when I just clicked out of this video, there was a video that said “hello darkness, my old friend” with a hamster in the thumbnail... weird weird weird LMAO I had to come back to say this.
I now live in California, but I remember when I lived in Virginia and this was always my favorite coaster at busch gardens when we had season passes. I remember going on it over and over with my best friend Mia before we left the park. It was my first real roller coaster, too! Thank you so much for this ❤️
So sweet 😍
Who the hell moves TO California. Most people move FROM California.
My brother and I rode our motorcycles to Busch Gardens from RI in 1980 to ride this. It was a weekday before Labor Day and the park was empty. We dropped acid and rode it over 30 times. We tried every location on the cars....the best was the very last seats on the last car. The whip effect on the first drop was unbelievable.
I can't believe it was over 40 years ago.
Finally, I found a youtuber that went to Williamsburg...
we're lonely here
TehMystery we are
Yep
MystyMinded im over here at kings dominion might go to Busch gardens next year
Dub ThaGod I recommend riding invader and verbolten but be careful with verbolten cause it’s in the dark and at one point you start slowing down then come to a complete stop and just fall
Kittycat Meow I’m definitely gonna check it out
I remember when this ride had the strobe lights, roars and the light-up loch ness face at the end of the tunnel.
dragonfyre79 Omg I was just about to ask what happened to that! I definitely remember that too.
I remember when they used to time the trains so that two would hit the loops at the same time. At night, that was amazing to just watch.
+Electric Devil Yeah I remember that also!!
Electric Devil three b4v
dragonfyre_1975 I went a few months ago, My brother heard the roar. I didn’t... (maybe because he was screaming)
i cant believe my brother went on this when he was 10 but im still here afraid of my cat
My brother went on the youkon striker when he was nine... feel ya
My brother went on the youkon striker when he was nine... feel ya
I grew up in Williamsburg... rode it when first opened,27yrs later rode it for the last time...great memories at Busch Gardens
This was the first loop coaster I went on as a kid. Back in the summer of 1983. My dad took me on it twice.
That chainlift looks like it's seen better days xD, it was struggling to bring that train to the top lol, unless that is a signature Arrow Looper characteristic.
Arrow lifts were known to be slow... See Steel Phantom, that is a slow ass lift
Gary Ugarek the beast at Kings island? That's a fucking slow ass lift lmao
Zero-G-Worx wow same lift
Zero-G-Worx there is something to be said for suspense especially for short rides 😉😋
Zero-G-Worx been that way my entire life
guys. it isn’t scary. i-
i got my hopes up for nothing when i went on it irl
No, it isn't scary, but it is a whole lot of fun and it is my favorite rollercoaster in the park, (apollos chariot in a close 2nd).
It's a good first ride of the day to get you ready for Alpengeist and Griffon.
💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️
whistling jennie It’s pretty much a family coaster
I think this ride is terrifying but when I got off I was sup excited but it idk
This is the definition of a coaster that is just plain fun. Really smooth for its age and gives some great views of the nature.
It looks pretty slow in most parts. Deceptive video?
60fps tends to make things look slow.
+That Guy With the Pointlessly Long Username That You Are Wasting Your Time Reading Right Now no it doesn't where did you learn that and why do you have such a long name
Your probably the guy or girl reading this wasting your time when you could have benn doing somethong else and hey look your still reading this.
+That Guy With the Pointlessly Long Username That You Are Wasting Your Time Reading Right Now yeah 144 is better
Jenn yeah I guess
Jenn Actaully no
This was my first coaster credit at the age of 6 in 1988. My second was Big Bad Wolf that same day (R.I.P.)
Also, R.I.P. Darkcastle... 😞
Gemstar 382 wow omg same!
I haven’t been there in years but idk they took away the dark castle!!! 😫😫 that ride use to scared the shit outta me when I was a kid but I loved it
G
My first roller coster was when I was 6 too
Gemstar 382 dark castle is three d I went on it then threw up after
This is my favorite roller coaster of all time
I was on the Hyperion in energylandia in Poland. Search on RUclips Hyperion and watch that pov :D
Thank you for these videos. This is just like being there at that theme park; without risking health risks.
This was the 1st rollercoaster I was ever on. It was just a couple of years old then. Still to this day one of my favorite coasters.
Front seat sucks, the back is where you feel the ms r cause when you start to feel a drop your already at the end way faster them a regularndrop
gou es lomaximo
Jonathan Rothman - Do you grammar? At all?
Are you trying to create problems?
Jonathan Rothman I'm trying to understand what got said. Are you trying to say that you feel more airtime on the drops in the back?
Yes
1:57 is we're I started not feeling well
From watching or riding?
On a school bus heading to Busch Gardens rn. Just binging these ha
Same!
I don't here much screaming here must be empty 🤣
This ride isnt that good
I mean I've been on it so many times that I just don't scream anymore, so I guess the other people on it are also used to it
The camera is right above the wheels. Their vibration is blocking out the screams. You can hear people yelling over them in the tunnel and on the second loop. This ride is better than it seems!
it doesn’t look empty if you look at the lines at the end
hear*
WOW! These are some of the best coaster videos on RUclips!
One thing though. Right before they come out of the tunnel, in the middle of the the screen, the light coming at you actually turns into a face with its head tilted down & turned slightly, as if it's watching your approach & burst into the light.
Just pause the video right after the final blue flashes, and watch it frame by frame until you finally exit the tunnel.
Rode this with my dad when I was a kid. This video brought back those great and happy memories.
I rode Loch Ness back in the
‘80’s... kick ass
This was my first ride that I went on with a loop...I was 6.
(Yes I was tall for my age😂)
Edit: Holy shit thats a lot of likes 😂
Also story time- I went here for my 15th birthday with my BFF and she said she didnt like coasters so I took her on this now she loves em.
Me too! (sry I'm very late)
Julianna Meszler finally someone has gone on it too my favorite childhood ride in Virginia
my first loop ride was also when i was 6. now i love loop rides
Same
Julianna Meszler cool
I've actually been on this ride before and it was hella fun 👍🏻
The Slayer708 why you gotta be so mean 😭
Tahmina Chan Same
@The Don You mad bro?
I have ridden this coaster over 100 times. This was the first coaster I ever rode!! Still one of my faves!! Good ole Nessie!!
This was my first inverting coaster. Holds a special place in my heart
I've been on Loch Ness before. Honestly, it was a thrilling and fun ride everyone should try!
GGGamer 17 I have.
It's actually one of the smoothest coasters made by Arrow, and it's pretty fun as well.
No one: complete silence
Me : screaming while watching video
Dubbed audio
One of my favs ! Has everything and more ! Iconic coaster experience
The ride is over 40 years old; when I lived on the east coast we used to go to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg rather frequently. Loved the Loch Ness Monster! Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is still my favorite park and I have been to parks from one end of the country to the other!
40 yo omg
This looks like a good beginner coaster. I think this is something I would be willing to make my first 'start' with. My only 'coasters' have been the old-school log rides, and things like The Mummy at Universal Studios.
This is actually my first coaster I did a loop on
tasev1 i went to busch gardens for a school trip and was a little scared to go on roller coasters but this was the first ride i rode for the whole day and i loved it
My first rollercoaster was hades 360 and it goes upside down without a harvest in Wisconsin Dells.
tasev1 same..... I went on baby coasters bc my friends are afraid.
tasev1 the mummy is a good one!!!
This was my son's first upside down coaster. It's a good one.
Crittergirl81 u mean inversion
The drop on this always had my heart in my throat, but I’d always go back for more! 😂❤
In 1992 we went on vacation and went to Busch Gardens. I am terrified of heights but I made the decision to face my fears and go on this ride. Hubs and I rode together, and when I saw that first drop I thought this is it, I'm gonna faint...hubs let out a big yeeeeha and off we went! I was amazed at how smoothe it was, you cant really tell you're upside down in a loop, the tunnel was cool in temperature and I looked forward to the second loop. When the ride was over I got off, and got right back in line 2 more times! It's an awesome ride and the smootheness of it is amazing! I love this coaster! Drachen Fire ducked, bumpy and not a good coaster, not sure it's even there anymore.
I worked at this ride in 2006 and they never fixed the lights and awesome things the tunnel used to have. Bleh I hated the crew I worked with that year.
+ShinGokuIAM What used to be in the tunnel? Is there video of the tunnel in it's original state on RUclips?
+vio2112 There used to be lights & sirens in the cave with lights lighting up nessie's tail until you got to the end and there would be a picture of nessie and nessie would shoot fog out of its mouth.
+EpicEverythingDude75 Parks do care about their rides, Maintenance does inspections on every single thing on a ride before it opens every single day. Stuff like effects and stuff that's secondary, ride safety is No. 1 important before lights in a cave.
+EpicEverythingDude75 The lights and fog were removed because people complained that the light show gave them headaches and that the fog gave them breathing problems. That and the system was expensive to maintain. Busch just stopped using it and removed the system. Maintenance at the park starts at 2am in the morning. They trim trees then, inspects cars and inform the employees if there will be a delay all before 9am. Not only that but many of them work on several rides so that's why they come in so early. The 2nd group comes in at 4pm and stays until 1am.
@@jennybooth1858 wow, major respect for the ride maintenance crews.
This is my favorite ride at busch gardens
Edit: srsly man the ride always wins I’m surprised messy didn’t knock that phone out of you’re hand
Edit2: the video is slowed down btw
Fun coaster! I road this when I was younger. So many great memories of that theme park.
Love the Arrow chain lift-hill sounds
I loved this place went there for my senior class trip
Wow, that's a pretty long coaster. I love the tunnel part of the coaster.
love this ride it’s got to be one of my favorites
Wow this ride was well thought of and very scenic. There’s so many trims though that slows it down a lot but I imagine they are there to prolong the coasters life and to make the ride expedience a little more comfortable.
First upside down roller coaster I have ever been on
This was my first ever roller coaster that I road on
Same I was 6
Same. I don't like roller coasters anymore lol.
It's almost like I'm there again! I can feel the warm late spring air, look down at the water again and see the snapping turtles swimming around,etc.....
Good times!
Thanks for the video! This is my home park so thank you
I been on this ride before when I first rode it my stomach was tingling because you had to stand up 😂😂
I bet if the park had pay-per-ride, this ride would cost 3.50
Is that a good thing
ShroomWalrus I dont get it lol
ShroomWalrus
XD
ShroomWalrus p
The best "modern" ride in the States! I can't remember how many times over the last 40 years I've ridden this one, but it is always the most fun every time! The best wooden ride in VA is the Rebel Yell in King's Dominion, and still running!
I was really tall for my age, so I went on this when I was only 6 or 7. If I remember correctly, I lost my hat on one of the loops, which just terrified the shit out of me. It was one of the main rides that made me completely traumatized regarding rollercoasters. Now, 20-odd years later, I'm really looking forward to getting a second crack at it when I head down that way this August!
That was my first real roller coaster! The memories!!
I hope to never see the day that Busch Gardens closes this ride. The Loch Ness Monster is one of those rides that should be around for years to come.
+FanOfVacuums2 Doubtful they'd ever remove it since it's a landmark for the American Coaster Enthusiasts.
FanOfVacuums2 it's their signature ride, there never taking it out
Hey is this one in Florida
Brings back such great memories 💙💙 loved this ride!! Thanks for posting
My favorite roller coaster that I've ever ridden. That first drop is so steep. It's amazing, and the tunnel :)
I would be screaming stopppp by this point 🤣
This is the 2nd Looping coaster. I ever went on and it's definitely my favorite!
REALLY? ME TOO! My first looping coaster was Alpengeist, and this was my second! This is also my favorite looper I've been on, tied with Kumba at BGT, though!
Amazing! My first was Anaconda at Kings Dominion on the same trip. Unfortunately I don't like Corkscrews after that one... I wont not go on a corkscrew coaster, I just don't really like them, I prefer wooden coasters like The Beast anyway.
Aww. I actually liked Anaconda when I rode it. Although those corkscrews really make you question: is this ride safe?! I don't feel it!
Yep, I felt like I was going to fly out, but it's also a cool sensation IMO. Loch Ness Monster is my favorite ride @ BGW, and Anaconda is my favorite ride @ KD. Two Arrow loopers make my favorite rides in their respective parks! So to speak.
Ratings
Loch Ness Monster: 10/10
Anaconda: 8/10
What do you give these two coasters out of ten?
Loch Ness Monster: 9/10
Anaconda: 7/10
To me, Corkscrews always make me feel as if I'm going to fall out....
But if you really want "that" sensation, ride "Leap the Dips" at Lakemont Park...... XD
+Thomas Blue One of the best coasters Arrow Dynamics has made and one of their best custom looping coasters too :) Not as good as Tennessee Tornado, but it's still good. Not too rough at all.
love everything about this ride.....
I rode this when I was 12 years old and it was the greatest coaster I had ever been on. To this day - now in my 50s - I won't pass up a chance to ride a coaster!
I went on this ride last year😓! It was so ruff!!! And after I lost my mom!!
When I was on that ride and it stopped for like 3 secs I thought it broke down😂😂
Glad to see people going on this ride.
This was my first rollar coaster
Mine was at six flags the Texas big giant
One of my favorite coasters. A lot more mild than it looks. If they have two trains running, and they're timed right, as you're going through one loop, another train is going through the other loop at the same time. I also liked the tunnel that had flashing lights and what sounded like a someone blowing a traffic cop's police whistle.
this made my head move around.
+StamfordBridge I laughed.so hard.
The first roller coaster I went on was Out Law Run at Silver Doller City
When it first opened, the tunnel used to have line lighting, strobe lights and an projection image of a sea serpent just before you exited the tunnel. Now it's just dark. Still an amazing ride. First loop coast I ever rode as a child.
Howie Rodman when I went in 2004 it had that. This ride is really old though
First big coaster i ever went on..! Love being able to revisit it like this xDD
I went on that and it was so much fun warning if you go on it you will get butterflies 🦋
This ride is so freaking fun lmao it's a warm up tho
My first roller coaster circa 1991, it destroyed my fear of coasters in one swift stroke. Thank you LN monster for giving me the coaster jones can't cure it don't wanna cure it
My very first coaster, such a good one!
Me: There better not be a loopty-loop.
*Loopty-loop comes on screen*
Me: What did I just say..
Vertical loop
It is slow, been on it several tines.
I thought I commented this for a second, think I'm high.
LOOPTY LOOP
Seriously?
_”loopty loop”_

Guess who's not riding this?!
+Skart Brimpson thats rude you dont have to say it like that, treat ppl the way you want to be treated
+Skart Brimpson XD I commented cause I could and I wanted to idc if no one cares
MythicalStorm16 #Life me

I love Busch Gardens and how they kept the trees as part of the ride scenery.
Wow the scenery is beautiful.
That was so fun
Literally me on a roller coaster:
"WEEEEEEEeee!"
*Claps hands like a seal
This ride is the coolest in the park! Its also has an interesting history! When you go do the loop when you ride, you don’t feel it at all,.
I once road this when it was snowing. Lived in the 'burg in the mid '80's. Either on an opening or last weekend of the season. It was a blast.
