I'm amazed no one mentioned Steve Dodd , he was a good mate to my brother and I back in the 80's . What a story teller , we'd sit there in the Brookvale hotel having a beer and he would tell us stories ( we were grown men by the way ) that would bring a tear to your eye but had happy endings , he was an incredible human being . A lot of older people would remember the boomerang thrower at half time at Brooky oval when Manly played at home . He told us about The Chant of Billy Blacksmith when the young girl opened the door he said here I am a black fella holding an axe with blood all over it staring at this little white girl , he said she had nightmares for a week . It's just hilarious Paul had him in this sketch standing there in his running shoes . Steve passed away about 10 yrs ago , and he still is the kindest bloke I've ever met . He was a very under rated actor .
    R.I.P Steve Dodd .

For those who didn’t live in Australia at the time, Rolf used to do ads for British Paints ( hence the strumming on the paint can, which was his signature sign off on the commercials.).
Hoges in the pot of brass was channeling Tommy Hanlon Jnr, an American who seemed to be ill at ease compering the show ( hoges impersonation is pretty much spot on).
As a schoolboy at the time, Delvene Delaney ( on left side of the balance act) was everyone’s schoolboy dream.
    She still is! 😀

      Rolf's tag line was:
      "Trust British Paints,
      Sure Can!"
Or as we kids used to say (sometimes with a slightly different vowel in the lust word:
      "Trust British Paints,
      Sure Can't"

Bernard King (pot of brass judge) was such a pos, he would say things to the contestants like, "I never wear a tie that cost less than a hundred dollars (500.00 current day) which is more than most of you would earn in a month' No one ever liked him except for other social climbers.
