pretty good series to watch. probably the best series ive seen from HerO in a while. still basically advocates why not rushing for colossi in PvT just doesnt seem to work in the current meta. first 2 games were amazing from HerO but i think its true what polt said afterwards, the reason why those games played out the way they did was mostly polt trying to adjust too much and not playing his own game. once he started just stubbornly playing his solit TvP none of the following maps were ever close to going in favor of toss. the thing is that top terrans have really figured out how to handle the protoss in the early to midgame and if they dont take damage in that phase theyll just steamroll the toss with mass bio from every angle. at this point i have a hard time seeing any of the protoss at blizzcon doing well except for zest and maybe cj herO. but its definitely going to be a tournament for the terrans to lose with innovation, MMA, bomber, polt etc.. i suppose as long as its best of 3 its looking alot better for toss because you can veto out deadwing and one of the 3 player maps. not sure which terran said it recently but i really agree with the statement that went like "i dont understand, how is protoss every supposed to win PvT in deadwing :S" where one drop can basically kill all 3 protoss bases at any phase in the game unless youre in perfect position to defend lol.
on the 2nd game hero went for a pigbaby build (you might say its not a pigbaby build because he didn't make a lot of observers but if you look at the game pig did vs taeja last season where he really showed the pigbaby build you will see that the core of the build is not the observers its the obsurd amount of chargelots and by that not spending a lot of gas on tear one units and using it for something else i pigbaby's case he used it for observers hero used it for a lot of HTs).
Well, Protoss users gotta understand that terran uses almost exclusively MMM (+ Ghosts or Vikings) against Toss...because that's the only thing that works! Mech units? Immortal kills all of them. Other air units? High templar kills them all. There's battlecruisers, but then there's Tempest. And MMM is the only thing that's left? What else Terran users are supposed to do?
Another great video esltv, I saw that you mentioned your Spanish commentator half way through? I may be dumb but i can't for the life of me find it! Could I request the link please. Also you wouldn't happen to also have these games casted in French or (中文) Mandrin?
I'm new to SC2. I've watched several Terran games in WCS and I noticed that doing micro is very essential in order to use Terran well but not so much when you use Protoss or Zerg. Is it true? Thanks for the feedback.
One thing that irks me about starcraft 2 is just how viable MMM is against almost anything, jack of all trades master of almost everything. Terran Bio needs a nerf somewhere, and terran Mech needs a buff somewhere to make it more viable in certain situations.
andrew1007 Bollocks. While that is true, the new map pool is clearly terran favoured. Remember season 1 and 2? Those maps looked like they had been designed by protoss players. Terran are stomping in all competitions right now.
Coffeine in Red Bull takes its toll - downgrade of concentration after a +/- 1h boost. The best consistent and resilient players rarely use drugs (coffeine is a soft drug). herO should get his nerves in shape and he will be a top champion.
I don't understand why people make so much fuss over the widow-mine buff. The widow-mine buff did not make Terrans imba. Polt, Bomber, Innovation and others were doing fine against kespa zergs and Protoss before the buff, and Taeja went something like 30 matches without even dropping a map, also before the buff. The thing that's made it look like Terrans are currently imba is the map pool, imho. The reason Terrans lost all those big finals in the past was that they had to go through (as in "couldn't veto in best of 5 or best of 7") all those maps who were easy to defend in mid-game aggression and had those easily defendable 3rds. The current map selection gives all the top Terrans 5 maps that can suit the mid-game pressure style. The way I see it, that's the reason we see all those TvT finals and 2-3 Terrans in every final 4. They veto all the maps they can't pressure, and even if they can't veto them, they still get 3-4 maps they can win. 2015 season 1 map pool may easily favor Zergs or Protoss, so it's no big deal.
Totem PsyClinic Interesting idea. I just think the fact that hellbats can both be repaired by SCVs and healed by medivacs is ridiculous somehow (and they were rebuffed too, recently). I don't think any other unit in the game can get such a crazy amount of healing that quick (see game 1 between hearth and scarlett to see what I mean).
Totem PsyClinic «all those maps who were easy to defend in mid-game aggression and had those easily defendable 3rds.» Which maps exactly? I'm curious (no sarcasm).
Alexandre Savard *deep breath* Waystation (far spawn especially), Alterzim Stronghold and Habitation Station can easily be defended with 3-4 buildings' solid placement during midgame (2 base), then you just expand with the army you've built at that point and you're basically on a 3 base economy by the 12 minute mark. Same thing with Frost, only I don't think you can cut off access to your bases with only 4 buildings (you probably need 5 or 6, don't remember exactly). Also, the season 2 maps had way fewer squares to cover as far as visibility goes. I think only Habbitation Station was constantly dropped in the main's blind spots, and that was only for a little while, 'till everyone started planting pylons on the far side of the main to use as spotters. And those 4 maps have been replaced by Catallena (has 2 access ramps and a back door path to the 3rd), Deadwing (very large main for drops, 3rd base mineral line open to siege tank pressure), and I don't even want to go into how difficult Foxtrot and Nimbus are to defend when you try to get your 3rd (seriously, you're better off trying to speed run to a 2 base push). Now, add to that that the 3 maps that didn't change are Overgrowth (huge distance to the 3rd), Merry Go Round (either far side distant 3rd, or inviting middle 3rd) and King Sejong Station (we've seen like a billion games end in 2 base pressure), and you got a map pool that is favorable to mid game pressure at like 5 or 6 out of 7. I personally play random, but whenever I get Terran, I try to end it when my opponent tries to expand to the 3rd, with this particullar map pool we've been given.
Totem PsyClinic I also thought terran's window of opportunity to end most games (especially vs toss) was in the mid-game, a period when defending the third is uttermost importance for your opponent (not counting the dropping area's in the main as you mention, some maps like catallena showing great discrepancies in this regard depending on spawning locations). This makes alot of sense to me. And yes, the fact that countless finals have ended up with TvT during the last can only account for this, or any other change. Thanks for developing your thoughts on this for me. Too bad that blizzcon will be so in favor of a single race when you would want the balance to reach it's peak at that point in the year ... sigh. I'm a terran player myself so can only rejoice knowing I will get alot of pro matches with terran players, but I hate to think every terran win may be lame in a way.
in 2014, Protoss players have won virtually every tournament: IEM Sao Paolo, Asus ROG Winter, IEM Cologne, the IEM World Championships, and most importantly the GSL Season 1 in South Korea, a tournament where five out of the top eight competitors played Protoss. terran can't go mech bio is only choice, when you know what your opponent is going to do vs a terran who knows protoss can do dozens of different things? protoss is op that's why they nerfing immortals to make mech more suitable.
okay can someone please explain why most American championship players barely speak anything besides korean? Its like they just flew over to play in the tournament.
Yeah because only protoss players have skill but those poor souls have to deal with op terran and zerg right? Polt is a great player too, stop being so biased and appreciate pro play more on both sides.
What is the use of Carriers, Void rays.. Gonna make those useful.. And the marines.. OMG Terran now can win by only marines and medivacs.. what is the point of this, i never know..
Sun Wee That makes sense if it's a short game, but what if it turns out to be a long macro game? Fast 4 zealot drop / or 2 High Templar psi storm drops seems worth it. idk
absolutely true. bioball is broken as balls at every level of play. even in pro games bio drops are effective, against the best players in the world. how the fuck is anyone else supposed to stop it? colossi and storm can't touch rauders and immortals cant touch marines. the game's easiest build is also the game's most broken build
Doesn't that tell you something about yourself? If you, since you got to know he's gay, started thinking that his play sucks, then obviously you let your judgment get clouded by your predjudices. And for your information you don't just "become a gay". You are gay from birth, which is scientifically proven. How do you know he is gay btw?
I didn't say that you judge anyone, I said that your judgment (aka observation) get clouded by your predjudices. This guy have been gay the whole time and since you found it out you think his games changed. The only thing that actualy changed though was that you were informed about his orientation, not his orientation itself. That means that the fact that you percieve him as less good now depends on your own attitude and not that he is gay. Therefore - your judgment got clouded by your predjudices.
Cmon terran players.. we have all been listening to you whining about imbalance for 1 year now, and terran is winning every fucking tournament now... Where are the complaints from you guys? something has to be imbalanced if terrans are winning every single tournament in starcraft 2 now lol...
Yeah and thats why you are playing WCS and they are bronze.... No wait.... ._. Besides the fact that your grammar is bullshit you should maybe think about what you are saying... >.
First game starts at 13:00

That first game by HerO was amazing

Great to see Hero's past skills resurfacing again. And it's a terran talking here.
Ummmmm When's the last time Zerg won any big tournament? I think they need a buff or something because I don't think anybody else is noticing lol
Seriously can't wait for blizzcon!
Protoss imba they said...
Only thing that's happened is Terran players are understanding the matchup better
andrew1007 Bollocks. While that is true, the new map pool is clearly terran favoured. Remember season 1 and 2? Those maps looked like they had been designed by protoss players. Terran are stomping in all competitions right now.
andrew1007 I agree. Protoss tears are so salty.
Lol inductio im protoss and terrn feels so op allways lol and i feel only balanced when i play againts protoss or zerg or im winning much lol
skills imba
Terran isn't OP, Polt is.
No, Polt pretty much proved he sucks in the first two games.
Derfoklishe true, his micro sucks, he losses units like rain. but he is very clever he is a true war commander than a video gamer.
Coffeine in Red Bull takes its toll - downgrade of concentration after a +/- 1h boost. The best consistent and resilient players rarely use drugs (coffeine is a soft drug). herO should get his nerves in shape and he will be a top champion.

37 workers to 60, still ahead in econ... god damnit
okay can someone please explain why most American championship players barely speak anything besides korean? Its like they just flew over to play in the tournament.
toss op? Nope. Hero did so well yet medivacs and mass bio wins
Yeah because only protoss players have skill but those poor souls have to deal with op terran and zerg right? Polt is a great player too, stop being so biased and appreciate pro play more on both sides.
not saying Polt is bad or not giving him credit. It shocks me how well Hero played and lost. I mean look at all his builds
JT Saiyan And polt played better, thats all theres to it. Yeah Hero is an awesome player but that doesn't mean polt didn't deserve the win.
I think it came down to the engagements. Maybe Polt had better micro. Just hard to suck in a great build and play by Hero and losing lol
JT Saiyan Yeah polt took a few good engagements. tbh i think Hero choked. He does it all the time.
I would destroy Polt and Hero at Mario Kart on SNES!
I can beat both of them in a thumbwar. My thumbs are OP.
me on mario kart n24 with yoshiii
it's freaking weird. Her0 tried so hard but he was still unable to win.
Ya imagine that..... Weird that both players were trying to get to the semi-finals.... Weird
What is the use of Carriers, Void rays.. Gonna make those useful.. And the marines.. OMG Terran now can win by only marines and medivacs.. what is the point of this, i never know..
HerO is sooo good!
Why don't pro gamers get observer and warp prism speed upgrades?
Cause its not worth the time and we dont use ut that often. If the another player spot the observer you cant get it out in tume anyway :)
Sun Wee
That makes sense if it's a short game, but what if it turns out to be a long macro game? Fast 4 zealot drop / or 2 High Templar psi storm drops seems worth it. idk
I have seen some get warp prism speed but its not worth it for obs speed, they die too easily to justify the resources...
this is a great series
I dont understand why Hero is even playing, he already made it to blizzcon on the Korean scene.
that was the other hero, there are two. The one who is already going to blizzcon is CJ entus hero. This is teamliquid hero
lol ya there are 2 herOs
the other herO you just mentioned has a permanent smile on his face
Oh my bad. Wow there are two with not only the same name but spelled the same with herO
stupid
Stupid?
***** You can't imagine how distraught the casters where when they had to cast those two against each other last year :P
POLT WIN 3-2
+edomusu dude, spoiler tag please.
AHAHAHAAH NOOO MHAUAAHAH
+Andrew Wang if you are sc2 fan, you know Polt would win anyway. If you are not, spoiling won't upset you that much.
nhanlm0601 Polt loses sometimes...
Andrew Wang true!
nate w\o beard looks so strange :/
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLT!!!!!!!!!!!
Terran bio's DPS is too high for its cost. There needs to be nerfed in damage or cost
Michel Pillié And here we can see a Terran player in it's natural habitat, smashing and raging when his race's balance comes into question.
then baneling should be the most OP unit in the entire starcraft history? please nerf zerg QQ
absolutely true. bioball is broken as balls at every level of play. even in pro games bio drops are effective, against the best players in the world. how the fuck is anyone else supposed to stop it? colossi and storm can't touch rauders and immortals cant touch marines. the game's easiest build is also the game's most broken build
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLT! ;)
F*ck. Not ONE game going to my liking in these quarter finals :[

Doesn't that tell you something about yourself? If you, since you got to know he's gay, started thinking that his play sucks, then obviously you let your judgment get clouded by your predjudices. ***** sometimes truth is depressing!
Robin Pettersson I am not judging anyone, I am stating a fact or an observation to say the least
