    This is my first try. I just did the transfer using wise to ibkr following exact same way as the video does. But there is additional step did not mention in the video, i still need to manually 'verify/approve' the transaction from wise app together with some questions in order to complete the transaction. Now just wait for the money to go in to my ibkr account 😀. Thanks for the tutorial btw good video!

    Thanks for the video. Wouldn't it be better to send local currency to IBKR and use its forex conversion to then convert it to USD? It's probably cheaper or better rate than what Wise gives you.

  • @ultimatejy9393
    @ultimatejy9393 Год назад +6

    Thanks for this video!!
    But I have to say, ACH routing from Wise USD account is still cheaper then sending MYR to IBKR directly
    I notice there is additional ~0.36USD when funding my IBKR using MYR through Wise, compared to convert MYR->USD then ACH to IBKR.
    For experiment purpose, I am just testing with 400RM, done both within a 30s timeframe to factor out fx rate :p
    perhaps the fee is lower for higher amount of transactions :)

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  Год назад

      You could be right! Need to test out higher amount to see the comparison because of their fixed fee portion!

    • @ultimatejy9393

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  Год назад +7

      Actually you are right, ACH does seem cheaper at 2nd look, with the convenience being the tradeoff. Will do an updated comparison on their fees!

      @@ultimatejy9393 How sure how you get FOC, but I just tried transfering USD to IBKR via ACH and the fee is 0.39 USD

    • @dhinneshjeevan8506
      @dhinneshjeevan8506 Год назад +6

      From my observation, if you're transferring USD to IBKR, it doesn't matter which way you choose (either via IBKR or Wise ACH), the fee is the same which is $ 0.39.
      What is different is when you try to deposit MYR to IBKR.
      If I use IBKR to transfer MYR 10,000 from Wise, I will receive USD 2,177.06 with exchange rate 0.219226 with MYR 69.32 fee.
      If I use Wise ACH to transfer MYR 10,000 to IBKR, IBKR will receive USD 2177.71 with the same exchange rate, but fee is MYR 66.36.
      So, if you use IBKR to deposit from Wise with MYR, it's slightly more expensive. But if you're transferring USD, either way works the same.

    I remember you mentioning in another video where it would be better to buy ETFS that are traded on the London Stock Stock Exchange (Ireland-domiciled ETFs) rather than US-domiciled ETFs due to the 15% vs 30% tax on the dividends earned. In that case, would you top up British pounds rather than USD to your IBKR account? Wondering because you said in this video that you only trade US stocks on your IBKR and so you only top up USD.
