61 yr old veteran here Eddie. God this really hit home with me because I went through all of this... Even shooting the deer lol... Yup came home with PTSD.. Didn't recognize it for years and so I battled.... Marriage disappeared.... And I had to take a good look at myself which was tough... Why? Because I always considered myself to be the man.... I was a teenager when I went on my first deployment... And I had several other birthdays over there... In fact I spent my whole first Enlistment overseas... Away from all of that I had to deal with reality once my marriage dissolved... Yeah I got into drinking hard. Real d*** hard.... Life of the party but was Miserable inside.... It took a lot of years... Here I am in my sixties before I learned to be the man finally in my fifties... Family, Self, Grand kids, Friends,... And yes even to my ex wife. No it's not always easy but I always shut my mouth and swallow my pride... Because I had to work so hard to get this far to really learn what it took To actually be a man. Prayers to all of those out there struggling with it... I've been alone for a lot of years and it's for the better. Took me a long time just to see that! God bless you all... I'm a 30 year old Orthodox male that's been married for 5 years to the love of my life. I've been body-building for 10 years and although my marriage has been a humble and happy one, I found myself in the typical male trap of false ego and pride. I'm not a violent person but often find myself tested. Someone looks at me a little too long or someone flips me off and I'm almost needing to react in some way because that's what a 'masculine man' does. about 2 years ago, an event happened in my life that saw a lifelong of suppressed emotions and dark thoughts spill out of me. I had daily thoughts kill myself or hurting someone severely. Long story short, although being born an Orthodox Christian, I decided to explore my faith and get closer to God. 2 years on, I haven't scrolled through social media (minus RUclips) , I gave up a 15 year porn addiction and my already good relationship with my wife has been fantastic. I still find myself being tested as we all do but my aim is to be a better Man for my family in the image of God. Eddie, I first saw you on Shawn Ryan and then I read your book. In a world of false masculinity, I watch your content as a positive example and reality check to keep walking this path because this world is a spiritual battlefield. An early church father said; " Humility is the chariot by which we ascend to God.” Theres a great book called Wild at Heart by John Eldredge. He says that Every man has a battle to fight, a maiden to rescue and an adventure to live. It talks about the things you're talking about here. Blessing

Beautifully said. For years I unknowingly had this unachievable standard of masculinity I was trying to live up to. It was a hybrid vision of what a man should be, comprised of values and traits from various individuals rolled into one image of a “true” man. That left me feeling insecure, inferior, and ultimately defeated. Jesus Christ helped set me free from that unrealistic and unattainable version of masculinity. The spiritual aspect/component you reference is the most important and overlooked aspect of manhood.

I just clicked the first video on Eddie’s page to get this out while it’s fresh, but IRT a warning Eddie made about psychedelics in a YT short a while back-while I’m getting the weed whacker out of the shed, Holy Spirit outta nowhere put Eddie’s face in my mind and said told me (paraphrasing), “that’s your 9/11.” You see, for whatever reason, Christ chose to reveal himself to me through a conspiracy rabbit hole that started with looking into 9/11 in 2016 and culminated in weeping and screaming at the ceiling “God if you’re real I want to know you!” I spent months trying to explain conspiracies to everyone I cared about to show them why God was real and Christ was real. Everyone called me crazy and cut me out - like close friends and family. The Holy Spirit taught me over time that the rabbit hole I was led down was for me. It’s not for everyone. It’s not my job to drag people down the path the Lord took me (Ephesians 4:11). For some, it can be useful and help to exhort them. But for others, it may get them caught in the weeds. With psychedelics and the like, Christ certainly has called His children and revealed his glory through a path that included psychedelics. BUT!!!! The answer and the absolute truth is their is no way to the Father apart from Christ.
