Thank you for the vid. Both sides of connector was melted on mine. $26 kit at Advance Auto had the plug and the pigtail, now all fan speeds are working.
Fantastic video. After watching it, I said to myself "This is perfect, except I'm going to disconnect the resistor from the connector so I don't need to buy a new connector and splice it in." HAHAHA! Forget about it! I wrestled with that thing with screwdrivers, pliers, vice grips, you name it. Such a waste of 30 minutes. I came right inside afterwards and ordered the new connector. Overall easy repair, and it's great not to have the fan blasting on high constantly. Thank you!
You just saved Me the cost of the dash switch ...2022 ...on a 1999 Ford E-250 the resistor was toasted when I got it out ! And the corrosion made it super hard to separate the plug ...Got it but am changing it out also ...
Gary, thank you for watching my video!!! Yeah, where I live there's Pepboys, Autozone, Advance Auto, Napa, and O'Reilly's Auto - all within about 5-10 miles from my house!
This vid is old but get the parts on Amazon half the price same parts all made over seas of coarse. FYI Sometimes the wires/pigtail also melt behind the switch itself you can also buy a new switch and pigtail also for that. How I got I here don't even know but I love watching repair vids.

@@TimsCNC-Tractors-and-more I got the parts delivered today and just done fixing it. And I realized I have a 2003 just like yours. Your guide helped make it super easy! Thanks!
so before I buy this part, I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I have a 2003 Econoline 150, and the switch would blow the same on all settings except high. on high it would blow really hard, but all of the other settings were The lowest blower speed. so in other words I only had two speeds, low on the first three dots, and then high. yesterday it stopped blowing at all on any of the settings, but the compressor works fine and if I set it on normal AC and drive on the highway air conditioning pushes through the vents so I know the problem is either the switch behind the dash itself, or this resistor. any idea which it might be?
Thank you for your question! I'm not sure if you've seen this video from this Ford mechanic...very well explained!! Mayb it will help. ruclips.net/video/RQFK38RlNdM/видео.htmlsi=lhRS_cS-GCwa5d9L
Keenan, yes I did have air coming through the front vents and I checked too make sure it was coming through the floor and windshield vents, and it was. Hope this helps you out! 🙂
Not sure if the parts will be the same......check into Napa online, O'reillys auto parts, or what store might be near you and enter the make, model and year of your vehicle. You might even consider going to ford.oempartsonline.com/ to get a part number and it should cross reference a aftermarket part.
My issue is similar, my fan only worked on 1 , 2, 3, and 4 for a few days, now today it only blows on 1,2,3 .... doesn’t blow on 4, 5 setting on the dial. Could it be the same thing as yours?
Hmmm……very strange. I know mine only worked on high, and when I changed the resistor part , it worked fine afterwards…..not really sure what else could be wrong with yours……possibly the fan switch itself? There is a Ford mechanic guy on RUclips that had a video about this very topic. Maybe that could help? I hope you can get it working!!
@@TimsCNC-Tractors-and-more My fan only worked on low, but your vid unknowingly shows solution... you changed plug to resister whereas I changed only resister! Thanks for solving my nightmare, 115 Arizona heat.

Not sure if the part #'s will still be the same but I got these from Advance Auto Parts a couple of years ago. Blower Motor resistor - RU1138 Electrical connector - PT766
The resistor was rusted and needed replacement ,but the wiring harness was stuck on and I really couldn't remove it so I bought the replacement wiring harness also.

It would have been a good idea to replace the resistor also when you had it out that's why the wires heated up
