    Going back to school for your bachelor’s degree or starting one for the first time is a big decision - and one of the most important questions is how long it will take. The answer is different for everyone, but you can determine your timeline by doing 3 things: define your goals, establish a starting point and execute a plan.
    It’s personal. To achieve this goal, you have to determine how college courses can fit into your life. Can you go to school full-time or do you have a full-time job to consider? Just because you’re busy, doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Explore online degrees to work around your other commitments, and you can move forward toward a degree.
    What is your starting point? Do you already have some college credits? If you choose a school that is transfer-friendly, you may be able to take fewer courses and save time and money.
    You need 120 credits to earn a bachelor’s degree, and most courses are 3 credits. That means if you take 30 credits a year, you can earn a degree in 4 years. More credits per year and you can shorten that timeline.
    Now, make a plan. Reach out to schools you’re interested in and ask financial and academic counselors what this might cost you, what scheduling options are available and what kind of support you can expect. Create a schedule that lets you take care of your other responsibilities while also earning your bachelor’s degree.

    For anyone stumbling onto this video... SNHU has been amazing so far. Their tuition is affordable, their schedule is flexible, and their course offerings are impressive. A friend and I decided together to finally get our Computer Science degrees, and SNHU has been, by far, one of the best choices that I have run across. I had previously enrolled in a local community college to take some classes that I used for work, and SNHU took 13 credit hours... that's every class I took... and applied them into my program. I was blown away, and really have no way to adequately complement their staff and advisors. I have done this before, and SNHU is by far the best experience I have had, and I look forward to finishing this degree and being a proud alumni.
    The fact that they are even willing to make a video that doesn't promote themselves, but provides good information about picking a school or program that is good for you, is pretty telling.
    Take it from me, someone who has shopped around for other schools and has been enrolled in programs before... If you get a fishy feeling, or feel pressured to commit, then avoid it. SNHU was very honest with me, helped me to determine if I should take a full course load due to my work schedule, and worked their hardest to bring in credits so that I didn't have to pay for them. They have frozen their tuition rates for years, and intend to keep costs low. Books are even provided in some of my classes in an online version, and free.
    While they want you to do your best and succeed, they also do not want you to end up in tremendous debt.
    Classes are a lot of work, and there is quite a bit of information to take in and digest every week. But during the process I have felt like I am actually taking away information I can use. It hasn't all just been busy work and endless chapter-after-chapter textbook reading. You can tell that the instructors are actually interested in their courses and aren't just a glorified discussion board administrator.
    I waited a long time (probably too long) to take this step, but I'm glad that when I did, that I chose SNHU.

    Started my degree for a bachelors in february i’ve earned 9 credits so far and i’m finishing up my next 2 classes so i will have 15 credits. They have the option to do classes on sophia to get out of the way. I’ve done 1 class & i have 4 more i can do in my own terms. Which will equal 12 credits i can earn in literally a month if i have the time. Snhu is also very helpful. I encourage others to take advantage of this opportunity.

    Are prerequisites included in these classes, like math and english etc? Or do I need to go to a community college first to get those out of the way? My daughter is in high school wanting to get into marketing one day. Trying to help her find the best path for her. This looks like a great option.

    What does course credits means?

    • @SNHU
      @SNHU  5 месяцев назад

      Great question! Every course is worth (typically) 3 credits. So once you complete a course, you'll receive 3 credits to go toward your entire program. For example, Bachelor's degrees are 120 credits to complete.
