Adiyen Sri Anjaneyanin intellectual attributes, and rich knowledge of all three Vedas, etc is noteworthy as explained, upanyasakar said !!!! But now in practical scenary we dont see monkeys that much intellligent???? Why Valmiki chose to make this animal great?????????????

Super doubt. My thought is:if people follow their dharma, then monkeys will. For example,Brahmins should follow their kula dharma,of learning and doing daily karmas like Sandhya vandhanam, agni hothram etc, spreading Vedhas, taking Bikshai for a living and so on.
If this is not done by all ,why do you look at monkeys.

      Adiyaen, Thanks for your question!
Here are Adiyaen's humble thoughts, first and foremost,Valmiki Muni did not choose to portray the Vanaras or any character with specific traits. He was granted a boon by Brahma (Canto 1, Ch 2) to record events exactly as they happened or would happen, including the inner thoughts of all. Brahma did not bless Valmiki with creative writing; instead, he was a historian, faithfully capturing reality.
Now, coming to Hanuman, he is not an ordinary animal. He is unique among the Vanaras, who are citizens of the forest and incarnations of Devas. While all Vanaras who served in Bhagavan Rama’s army were highly intelligent, beautiful, adept in changing forms, and proficient in all weapons, but as per their Kulam, they prefered using nails and teeth. Hanuman stands apart. Hanuman’s *vak vanmai* (eloquence) cannot be generalized to all monkeys. He is the son of Vayu and studied directly under Surya, which endowed him with extraordinary qualities. Even in the Sri Ramayanam, the general monkey army does not exhibit the same level of intelligence as Hanuman.
Valmiki describes Hanuman as the foremost of all the Vanaras (Bala Kanda, Ch 17). After Indra hurt Hanuman’s jaw with his Vajra, and Vayu was understandably upset, all the Devas went to appease Vayu and bless Hanuman. Brahma restored Hanuman’s life and proclaimed that this little boy would become a great devotee of Bhagavan Rama (Uttara Kanda Ch 36/37).
With devotion comes unparalleled intelligence. In Kishkindha Kanda Ch 2, Hanuman is first described as *Vakya Kovida*-the ablest speaker. Bhagavan Rama frequently relied on Hanuman’s extraordinary intellect in His service.
It is important to note that the attributes of beings change with the passage of *yugams*. Just as there is a degradation in the knowledge and qualities of humans over time, we can expect a similar degradation in the attributes of monkeys. Today, while monkeys may show occasional glimpses of intelligence, they no longer possess the extraordinary traits seen in the Vanaras of Bhagavan Rama’s time.
When Bhagavan Rama returned to Vaikuntha, the Vanaras returned to their original celestial abodes. Angada ruled Kishkindha, while Hanuman, Jambavan, Mainda, Dvivida, and Vibhishana were asked to stay back. The Devas, too, returned to their celestial homes. Today, monkeys are ordinary creatures, though their nails and teeth remain as lethal as ever.
The key takeaway from Hanuman’s story is learning how he lovingly serves Bhagavan, how he worships Sita Pirati, and how we can understand *Bhakti* through his pastimes in Sundara Kanda.
