Hi Ant Man Bee, thanks so much for A Quick One. It’s a great improvement over the original. I appreciate it’s a bit cheeky to ask for requests, but, how about tackling some Robert Johnson recordings? It’s one man and a guitar, so not much to really work with but maybe a little bit more separation, depth and space between the voice and instrument might work wonders for overall sound projection. Maybe some noise/hiss reduction too might be possible? It would also tie in nicely with some of the Captain Beefheart work you’ve done (given that tracks like Sure ‘Nuff ‘n Yes I Do, Electricity and China Pig etc. are clearly inspired by Johnson’s work).
I'm not sure. I like Robert Johnson's recordings just the way it is, so I don't feel very comfortable messing with them. Maybe I could try as an experiment, but I don't think it's necessary. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@ant2manbee931 Thanks for your reply, greatly appreciated. Yes, I love the rawness of the Robert Johnson recordings too - it really adds to their character. However, I just think if they could have recorded the songs at the time to sound a little fuller (e.g. less “boxy” sounding guitar) and with less hiss and crackle and more breadth to the sound stage, I’m guessing they probably would have done. Anyway, many thanks for your efforts so far improving various recordings. In particular your work on TMR and the first two VU albums. I’ve listened to your improved versions of these albums/tracks countless times and greatly appreciate what you have done. Thanks again.
For years, the German true stereo mix of this album was THE stereo mix; certainly much better than the horrifying UK/US stereo mix. This, however, beats the German mix by some margin. I'm wondering, when you were creating this were you using stems taken from the German stereo mix? Or from the usual stereo mix?
Well, as far as I know, the German stereo mix is the only one that exists. There's only a lot of different remasters of it made through out the decades. I used the version from the Japanese deluxe set of A Quick One. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Yeah, that's the limitations of the recording technology at that time and I think it adds character to it. Thanks, I appreciate it!
Superb! Thanks very much indeed. Much-improved clarity and sound balance compared the original.
Sounds too tame to me
Well, you sound like a bit of an idiot to me.
