    Live blades bridle progress because of fear. But once you’ve learnt a new trick it feels so good to nail it on a live blade…

    I think it all comes down to your preference and what you want out of the hobby. At the end of the day we’re all a bunch of flippers flipping flippy bois :) (also great content keep it up)

      Alright another thing- getting cut gives you a cooldown for when you can next flip, meaning you will learn that much quicker to not do a certain thing because you know if you do that again you’ll fuck your shit up and can’t flip ANOTHER day or two so you nearly never do it again.

      I think that is a fair thing to point out.

      That is not exactly what I meant. I mean that the way the balisong hobby is gravitating with more and more young people and quite honestly children is towards the realm of toy and not knife.

      @@jakeflipsbalisongs yea I get what you’re saying my top comment was half joking. And I agree trainers are the new age. I also agree that trainers should be your first, mine were for at least a year I think. Good video Jake! (I am also a fellow Jacob)

    I flip live 100% i do feel that starting with a live does make your flipping better But! Getting cut does suck i really do think that it makes you more aware and the more aware the less you get cut

      @jakeflipsbalisongs  Месяц назад

      I do think it will make flipping more deliberate my thing is with some tricks it doesn’t matter how aware you are. For instance roll overs, aerials, and z-choker variants are all tricks based on practice and timing and no amount of awareness will help learn them faster

    "Live blades are an old part of this hobby". 🤔 thats an interesting statment lol. Lets not forget, balisongs ARE knives and as such, the main reason they're popular. Trainers are important, but they're like airsoft compared to real firearms. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      I like that comparison a lot actually!. I feel I misspoke a little bit. I mean that the way the balisong hobby is gravitating with more and more young people and quite honestly children is towards the realm of toy and not knife

      @@jakeflipsbalisongs i think thats part of the issue, this hobby wasnt started for or by "children". dont drag the adults down who actually built it by saying that live blades arent important or that theres no reason to have a live blade balisong, i mean maybe to you? you gotta be careful with this stuff seriously when you start trying to work eveything around to include minors it gets tricky bc inherently ITS NOT FOR KIDS. Sure kids can have trainers or whatever, but that should be the end of discussion. Youre finding short term attention from the younger audiences and theres no problem with making bali contents safe for them too BUT like I said thats a caveat to the main point that its two separate things. I like the airsoft comparison too bc it makes sense, kids can play with airsoft and get a feel for what its like, to have fun and gain skill, but that doesnt mean theres no reason for the real ones or that they can be replaced respectively. The live blade was created first and trainers were an innovation to allow practice and for novelty in general. I just honestly dislike the pandering towards children bc like i said its not inherently for them to begin with

    The first function of a knife - it has to cut things.
    Just flip a friggin bottle opener rather than something that is pretending to be a knife.
    You GenZ and millennials are something else.

      @jakeflipsbalisongs  Месяц назад +1

      Not what I was trying to say sorry that it wasn’t clear. To me, balisongs are not knives and people who say they carry them for utility are not being honest with themselves. They work as functioning knives but do a worse job than a pocket knife so to me their only role is to be fun fidget toys. There they are toys and toys do not need blades.
