I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I think season 2 of “Something About” really suffered from the creative differences from behind the scenes. I think this can really be seen in the character differences in seasons 1 and 2. In season 1 BIRD UP Bird is essentially established as a wandering soul who pops up randomly for mild inconveniences’s sake. However in season 2, BIRD UP Bird is suddenly a ruthless, violent dictator who is determined to spread an empire of BIRD UP with his new crystal. This could’ve worked if the thirst for power was actually foreshadowed, but it feels like it comes out of absolutely nowhere. Unfortunately, this isn’t even the only character that falls victim to this. I can only hope that these issues can be fixed during season 3. In conclusion, 10/10. It has a little something for everyone.

No, it was actually super Mario World at the very beginning with the conversation Yahoo had with Luigi. It's almost explicit that his first encounter with space tome anomalies was coming back after defeating Darkon(? I never played whatever they were referencing). That was when he truly started talking about parallel universes. The battle was just him testing what he could really do. He got possessed in Luigi's mansion and used it to speedrun like in super Mario 64. He then tapped into his powers and saw a glimpse of what he could really do as he came back using parallel universes. The battle was like bench pressing for the first time, slowly going up and up until you hit your limit.

Update: Since the All-Stars episode came out, I've learned that the Speed Demon has NOT in fact left Mario permanently. He abandoned him, but apparently came back. His brother is also now alive, and is traveling through space, time, and past Mario games in hopes that he can convince his brother to stop speedrunning and repel the Speed Demon. As we see in the All-Stars episode, the Demon makes Mario go into a different dimension and escape his brother. It clearly causes him pain, but he is forced to do it because he is under the Demon's control. I will release another comment when Something About Season 3 comes out if you want to stay updated.

It’s strange that the “after credit” scenes are not in this video, especially ones like Mario world that are important to the story of the speed demon saga. It looks like season 3 and 4 compilation videos have them in, but not this one. Of course you can always watch the individual videos but having them all in one video is really nice for rewatches imo
