Actually, there are a lot of people discussing south korea's arms exports these days, but, personally for me, the special forces operators of sk are better than their weapons. They’re the first asian country to create "counter-terror force" and the only one with experience in solo operations abroad. They’re also the very few asian countries to have special forces in the air force. Russia's military think tanks in the anti-western as well as pro-western liberal camps consider sk's 707 as one of the world's top special forces. In early 2014, the sk‘s army SWC was approved as a member of the Joint Fire Observer(JFO), just below the JTAC, and it was the first time that non-Commonwealth of nation to reach this stage. The international approval JFO process, which produces qualified personnel who can induce firearm assets of other countries' armed forces, is not only in sk, but also the 6th in the world, and the second certified country after the uae, and the first in east asia to obtain international recognition. In addition, a major in the korean air force aviation support task force was the first in east asia to qualify as internationally recognized Joint Terminal Attack Controller(JTAC), and total of five such internationally recognized JTAC personnel were known to exist in the air force in 2016. Of course, it‘s the most in asia. Many people think that "modern warfare is a competition in science and technology," but it’s still up to humans to end the war by placing flags. In particular, the special forces, which are asymmetric forces, play the role of game changers in wartime. It’s clearly one of the most important power of the sk military.

Thank you for making this great video. I am sorry that naval assets and marine corps scenes are relatively few. F4 Phantoms are decommissioned this summer with nearly 60 years of service records. Among 3 squadrons of South Korean F-4E, the jets that had been operated in 151st SQ and 152nd SQ have been replaced as South Korea has purchased 40 F-35A(Block 3F). And as South Korea has placed the order for 20 additional F-35A(Block 4), the jets that were used in 153rd SQ the last F-4E squadron have phased out...
Over 90% of Korean men in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are capable of aiming and firing a gun, as well as performing firearm repairs. More than 15 million Koreans are capable of wielding a real gun in combat.
South Korea, which grew into an advanced country with absolute support from the United States, solved the problem of a shortage of tanks and self-propelled artillery in Europe, and when the United States urgently needed artillery and requested support, South Korea became the Arsenal of the West, delivering 1 million rounds of ammunition within two weeks.

Note: At this point, Korea is rated as the world's ninth-strong naval force, and all of the F-4E has already been retired about several months ago. (F-4D was retired in 2010) Some of the scenes shown in the video seem to have already referred to training video materials from several years to up to 10 years ago
As a Korean, I would say that the South Korean military wouldn’t even rank in the top 20 globally. The first reason is the rampant corruption in the defense industry. Just by taking a closer look, it’s clear there’s extensive corruption. For example, South Korea recently prepared to introduce new firearms to its special forces, with Israeli guns on the list. However, after direct testing, a special forces soldier determined the gun was unsuitable and reported this to his superiors, who ignored the report and inexplicably proceeded with the procurement. As a result, this firearm ended up as a costly display item that no one in the special forces uses. Adding to the issue, the soldier who acted as the middleman for this Israeli firearm resigned from the military and joined the intermediary company that played a significant role in the deal. Surprisingly, this is a true story that happened this year. Instead, the funds could have been better spent on replacing the outdated canteens that have been in use since the late 1990s. The second reason is the pay for South Korean soldiers. Korean men are legally obligated to serve in the military. To address various issues, regular soldiers’ salaries have been increased, but, shockingly, there has been no improvement in the salaries of career soldiers, including military academy graduates and those who commit to extended service. For example, additional work hours are essentially mandated in the military these days, yet there’s no compensation for them. Soldiers are implicitly discouraged from recording extra work hours, and the additional pay for overtime hasn’t changed since the early 2000s. On top of this, soldiers are forced to purchase combat rations nearing their expiration date (within one year), and even during extended duty, they have to buy rations with their own money rather than being provided with free meals. Who would want to pursue a career in the military under such circumstances? Morale is undoubtedly at rock bottom. The third reason is the restrictions on discharge for career soldiers. Due to the increasingly poor treatment of career soldiers, the military academy’s admission rate has dropped by more than half, and many soldiers, receiving inadequate pay, want to leave the service, resulting in a shortage of personnel. To counter this, the government has implemented policies to restrict discharges. For instance, there’s even a minor rule that soldiers can only apply for discharge three years later. What’s laughable is that while this is happening, the number of generals keeps increasing. Isn’t this the very definition of corruption? The South Korean military excels at maintaining appearances. As a result, it may seem like we have a strong military force on the surface, but nothing will change as long as the leadership remains the same. The fourth reason is South Korea’s lack of safety awareness. Most people consider the possibility of war as a distant, unrealistic scenario. Even when warning sirens go off, the majority ignore them. This is something all Koreans can relate to. Only if a missile hits Seoul, causing casualties, would this lack of safety awareness disappear, and people would start stockpiling at the supermarkets. Ultimately, in such a situation, having advanced weaponry or developing better arms won’t make much difference. If we were to go to war with North Korea, we would barely win.
First, Korean military corruption is relatively small compared to the rest of the world (However, I agree that corruption should be eliminated continuously) Second, Korean military salaries are quite high compared to the rest of the world (Total amount per soldier after 1 year and 6 months of conscription period is 5,210 USD) (Officers are also suggesting improvement measures) Third, I agree. Military benefits after discharge should be greatly increased Fourth, it is natural in some ways. Korea has been in a state of armistice for nearly 70 years In this case, the citizens' sense of security naturally decreases. This happens not only in Korea but also around the world In summary, I think you are too pessimistic
@@jjjj3269 I agree with your points, but let me elaborate on a few areas. First, the claim that corruption in the South Korean military is relatively low compared to other countries may not fully reflect the actual situation. Corruption within South Korea’s defense industry is highly organized, with significant issues in how the defense budget is managed. For instance, during the weapons procurement process, we’ve seen cases where inappropriate equipment has been supplied or when corruption related to weapon purchases has led to major budget wastage. This goes beyond isolated incidents; it undermines the credibility and efficiency of the entire military system. Second, while soldier salaries may appear higher compared to the global average, this is somewhat misleading. Basic soldier pay has increased, but since military service is mandatory, there’s still room for significant improvement in working conditions and compensation. In particular, treatment for career soldiers and officers has seen little change, and extra duty compensation has not been adequately addressed. So, increased pay alone does not equate to an improvement in the overall service environment. Third, while the expansion of post-discharge military benefits is indeed necessary, there’s a significant lack of effective measures to address this need. Currently, post-service military welfare is limited, providing little support to those who have completed their service. This issue requires more than just an intent to expand benefits; it demands practical policies and specific support plans. Fourth, regarding the gradual decline in public awareness of security, it’s overly simplistic to attribute this merely to the fact that South Korea has been in an armistice for nearly 70 years. The government and society as a whole have not effectively implemented structured security education or emergency preparedness. For example, are there comprehensive war preparedness tips or procedures being taught in primary, middle, and high schools? In my view, even fire drills are often inadequately conducted. When a fire alarm sounds, people in Korea typically wonder if it’s a malfunction or a false alarm. In schools especially, most people remain stationary without direction unless led by teachers or certain students. This lack of preparation and low sense of urgency ultimately creates vulnerabilities in national security.
@@jjjj3269 While the South Korean military appears to have advanced equipment, the reality is that there are significant shortcomings in the quality and performance of much of its gear. Basic items like body armor, helmets, and combat rations often need improvement, and even frontline units report issues with their equipment. In some cases, soldiers end up purchasing their own supplies due to the inadequacies in issued equipment. For instance, night vision devices are not widely distributed, with only one per soldier in limited availability across units. In certain cases, these devices are even sourced from China, but labeled as domestic products. Bulletproof vests and other essential gear lack the durability and protection expected in modern military contexts. Even if short-term improvements to welfare and equipment are made, the fundamental issue facing the South Korean military is the absence of a clear, long-term defense strategy. Modern warfare increasingly emphasizes electronic and cyber warfare, yet South Korea’s long-term investment and preparation in these areas are insufficient. Furthermore, there has been little strategic discussion on how best to optimize the military’s role and resources for future threats. Without addressing these underlying issues, the military’s effectiveness will remain limited.
It is a total bullshit. 1) Corruption is everywhere, corruption in SK army is relatively small . 2) The pension system for the veterans is excellent. 3) It is not corruption but process. 4) Improvement is on the way. SK soldiers are well trained and equipped. Hit the road

Where the fuck are all their Naval power? And wtf is with this outdated F4 phantoms?
It's an old model now, but the F-4 fighter has been used so far as a platform to launch long-range pop-eye missiles.
Note: At this point, Korea is rated as the world's ninth-strong naval force, and all of the F-4E has already been retired about several months ago. (F-4D was retired in 2010)
Some of the scenes shown in the video seem to have already referred to training video materials from several years to up to 10 years ago

First, Korean military corruption is relatively small compared to the rest of the world
(However, I agree that corruption should be eliminated continuously)
Second, Korean military salaries are quite high compared to the rest of the world
(Total amount per soldier after 1 year and 6 months of conscription period is 5,210 USD)
(Officers are also suggesting improvement measures)
Third, I agree. Military benefits after discharge should be greatly increased
Fourth, it is natural in some ways. Korea has been in a state of armistice for nearly 70 years
In this case, the citizens' sense of security naturally decreases. This happens not only in Korea but also around the world
In summary, I think you are too pessimistic
