      Delayed penalty. Goalie was skating off for the extra man, the whistle hadn't been blown yet on that replay. If goalie stopped they could've gotten a penalty for too many men on the ice so that's why he had to continue to the bench and not stop.

    Bastian is 6'4" but was 5'7" at the point of contact. That in essence was the problem. I do believe the major was warranted due to the head contact. I'm of the opinion that Remkpe knew Bastian was in a vulnerable position a split second before the contact. He was still 15 feet away from him when Bastian lost his balance. That's enough time to see, but Rempke had committed to the contact so I don't see him purposely avoiding Bastian there. What the heck was the devil's training staff thinking allowing Nathan out to start the second period. Once his adrenaline started going down after the Trouba fight, it looked like he was ready to die.

      wasn't split second. his eyes were lined up on Bastian the entire time. Bastian was preoccupied with the other Ranger and the puck... the dude took a run at him. Look how the other Ranger reacts lol... he probably thought he was gonna get run over too. Intentional head shot, so penalty. No elbow or anything, just targeting. could've easily just gone for the puck and stopped Bastian. He went for the hit and up in the air if you think he had intent to injure.

    Ive read numerous reasons why fighting might be making a comeback, relative to the game and rules and so forth. But part of me has to wonder if there is any incentive for the NHL to slowly allow it to come back because that is part of what the fans want. Hockey may be safer without fighting but it certainly is not as entertaining. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and saw a lot of fighting in the minors and majors and sometimes I wonder whether all the crackdowns actually negatively impacted hockey's interest levels. Not to mention the fact that fighting existed because guys were going after the star players and they needed to stick up for them lest they lose them to injuries. Avid fan and former player here myself. I don't think fighting came out of a vacuum. I get why they came down on fighting what with how it caused issues for the enforcers, and I also get why it would easily see a comeback. Just a thought. And I'm not too surprised to see a kid like Rempe with these stats because I think it's been coming.

    Amazing a veteran clean defenceman in Reilly gets 5 games for a cross check (where his stick came out of his hands aka he let go when he realized where he hit him to lower impact and not injure the player) Rempe has 10 games, 5 injuries and 5 fights responding to questionable hits.
    Reilly doesn't injure anyone for 10 years, gets up high once and gets 5 games lol.
    Get this guy under control before he puts someone in a coma. He's a rookie playing the brand of hockey the league says they don't want but clearly it's getting views so they won't care I guess.
    Parts of me love watching it but parts of me wonder what a hit like that on Bedard would look like for his health.... Imagine taking that guy out of the league with a hit from a 6'7 psycho path that'll never leave a mark on hockey other than injuring people and getting beat up by real fighters.

    The issue I have with this is "what is Rempe supposed to do differently?" Did he charge him? No. He was gliding well in advance. Did he get the elbow up? No, his arm was stapled to his side. Did he leave his feet? No. He was as flat footed as possible and didn't really use his legs to drive fully into the hit. Did he blindside him or hit him from behind? No, he hit him head on with 20ft of notice. Guys like Chara would not be allowed to play in the NHL in 2024 whatsoever because any contact will always be head contact even if they follow every single rule to the letter

    • @stikfigzz
      @stikfigzz 11 месяцев назад +1

      My only issue is how much distance and the angle he had to determine what would've been the outcome of the hit. Bastian was trying to get away from Kakko, so while maybe not the best skating form, his head was kind of down the whole time. He did bend over more as Rempe came closer, but it's not like Bastian made too drastic of a posture change at the last minute. I know it's easier said than done when adrenaline's high, but 6'7" Rempe had to have known what would've happened had he continued with the check.

    • @yooowhatupribs
      @yooowhatupribs 11 месяцев назад +4

      Chara got penalized for elbowing a TON and 99% of the time is was due to his height. Rempe here knew what he was doing, he aimed for the head. Not to mention the punches he threw on Siegenthaler without giving him time to drop his gloves. Rempe is the definition of a goon. Not saying it's a bad thing, hockey needs to bring goons back. But trying to argue that there shouldn't be a penalty assessed here is just being naive and silly, cmon

Rempe is a big tough kid but has no brain with his brawn. There is no place for goonery like that it's senseless and dangerous accomplished nothing but interrupting the game and ruining the rest of it with the BS revenge crap. He wasn't even in the game and still had a negative affect on it. That's just ridiculous. I loved the 70's and 80's hockey as a young man still enjoy a big hit a good scrap.
