@4:50 God bless! A death metal guitarist here and I’ve watched your videos for a long ass time. Thank you so much for inserting that rock and metal have enough differentiation to be recognized as separate. No one would say R n B and trap are the same
I think the flaw with this plugin is that it picks random patterns for each sound. That's not really going to work for most patterns or genres. A complete rhythm or bounce revolves around all the sounds playing off each other. Maybe trap hihats could be changed like that, but not all elements can do that. That's probably why the DNB preset sucked so much.
I feel like the flaw could also be stated as it picks (somewhat) random drum samples, that don't really take into account the cohesion of the other drum samples it has picked.
I’ve been viewing your vids in the shadows for years. You’re a genuine dude bro that always speaks the truth. You gotta review the murda beatz slate plug in next lol!
If you have the ability to make a good beat with this plugin - you could probably also do it WITHOUT this plugin. I just can't get over how gross their marketing is.
@@Prodambien They certainly are, especially for $300, however luckily you can edit the patterns, so I basically use them as templates for a quick idea, then I add my own spice to it, instead of starting from nada. it gives more flexibly as oppose to drum loops. as long as there's non musicians who want to become instant music producers, there will be companies making products like this. if people get really into audio, they'll make their own content. then companies like unison will have no market for this crap. if you need samples/chord packs and drum monkeys to make music... there's something wrong. and don't fool yourself, it's reflected in the quality of your work.

They are taking advantage of gullible people who have just started trying to make beats but dont have a clue. Unison's adds are very aggressive and is going to be one of the first things that comes up in search. I was looking for a Yamaha keyboard and Unison's midi cord pack was the second result.
I'm not trying to voice my opinion with any malice towards you or trying to sound like I'm trying to bring it, but....this is just my opinion. First, I'll agree that $300 is a bit much, but, I have it and I have to say that this is a good plugin based on how you use it. There are so many ways to adjust and manipulate the drum sounds to make them come out way better than what you're commenting on. It's more than just clicking the big red button and listening to the initial basic drum pattern. The genre I like to use is Funk and I combine the Drum Monkey Funk patterns with Drummer (Modern Motown in Logic Pro X) and I get some awesome drum grooves. What you're critiquing is basic drum patterns that provide inspiration. But just like all loops, samples, plug ins, etc. they just provide inspiration to get started. It's up to the user to do the work to tweak, add, subtract and manipulate what you have to get what you like.

that lofi one sounds like a kid who just started making lofi beats and heard that it should sound loose, so just put percussion and shit in random places and called it a day. the key to lofi is not randomness or simply pulling things off beat, it's having a human/natural feel. guess it isn't too surprising that a computer can't do it, then.
30 years ago, Producers were usually multi instrumentalists who had a great understanding ALSO of recording and mixing techniques. A Holistic understanding of Music gear , recording gear and also Studio knowledge , resulting in someone who knew EXACTLY how to get a specific type of sound and bring out the qualities of a band or artist. This is still the case today, but there seems to be this group of people who seem to think its someone who has no musical experience, understanding or technical knowledge about equipment, are not talented enough musicians to make anything good, and thin they can call themselves producers because they have bought programs like this. Whomever this applies to? good luck with that (you're gonna need it). Being a producer you should be able to do a bit of everything, not tap out on most of it because you cant be arsed to learn it and a want a program to do it for you
I hate this plugin and company, but I have to disagree. Rick Rubin is one of the most beloved producers of all time and he can't play any instruments at all or articulate what he does with any equipment in technical terms
Hey bro can’t speak for any other producers, but I don’t get any $ off the link, it just has my name in it 💀 also had a link for when I did a sponsored video on unison’s free midi pack. The only thing really inaccurate about my video was the fact that I wasn’t reviewing the plugin through the lens of “holy shit I just spent 300 on this thing” lmao. Nonetheless still had fun using it
I use drum monkey.. but I obviously didn't pay for it. Its really not bad for generating drum patterns for different Genres quickly. you can also change the samples and patterns. if you are depending on the generated beats to use in your final product , then you will be disappointed. The price point is the only problem imo. if it was $50, they would be making bank

honestly apart from the pricing this seems like a really good inspirational tool. I actually don't mind at all that sometimes the samples seem a bit off since i feel like alot of songs just overuse the samples that we have today and this can kinda open up some doors but just giving samples that you usually never use. Also i've seen a lot of bigger producers like dj dahi and illangelo (don't think they are paid to use it since they probably don't need the money) using it on stream for inspirational inputs and it seems like it can do a pretty good job at that. still think this plugin is not worth more than 40-50 dollars especially with the overall lack of control that you have to really mess around with the stuff it gives you. if this was combined with like XO's control and sample library this would be an absolutely great tool.
I don't care who you are or what stage of Music Production you are in, THIS IS A SAD LAZY MAN PLUGIN. And for $300.00. Didn't matter even when it was on sale for $99.00, learn your craft people. Learn your craft.
I made the mistake of buying this crap because there was no demo available. Now I've spent 3 weeks going back and forth trying to get my money back. Unison Audio will never see another dime from me again.
That dude got offended that I said I used reaper to record audio and FL for beats. LOL be more openminded. drum monkey sucks. FL has a built in sequencer, with dice roll. Why spend the 300.
@@djsusan00 yea drum monkey reeks. Especially if you use a program like FL studio, I mean unless you are just literally shit at drums but even then you can go on splice and find better drum loops
Come on Bro ... do U really just wanna hit a button and use what it spits out? It is meant as a starting point ... and of course U can swap the samples and more .. I don't think its bad .. I just think some of U guys are LAZY ...
I make Metal music, and anyone who is making metal, could spend around half the price and get EZ drummer, or Superior Drummer and instantly have 1) much better generated beats to choose from, 2) much better sounding drum samples, 3) far more control over each aspect of the sound than Drum Monkey 4) Much better GUI 5) much more powerful tools to modify the beat easily 6) Much easier means to modify beats if simplicity for the beat making process is required, you can keep it to just 1 Knob altered which can intelligently modify any loop, be it downloaded or created from scratch 7) a whole library of related beats fills, intro, verse chorus bridge etc choices and plenty of additional libraries that could be purchased with difference in outlay cost for the programs 8) Far better control internally for the program as it includes its own mixer with verb as well as different drum mics and a compressor 9) They operate as standalone programs as well as plugins so you can construct beats in entirety before even opening your DAW FFS you can get MTK Power Kit 2 for free and although you are limited for beat loops to start from its sounds several million times better than this I think the above programs are so good you could use them with just about any genre because they are so easy to use (and indeed you can by loop packs for certain genres) At the end of the day folks, its better to spend the Hours it takes to accrue the money to buy Drum monkey , on getting your head around the basics of making a beat from scratch. it will make you a better producer /musician and give you far better understanding over many aspects that important when making music. (average day job would take maybe just under a weeks work around 30-40 hours to ear that money, If you cant get your head around the basics of programming drums in 40 hours...maybe you have no talent?) I kind of think things like Drum Monkey are basically for people ...who probably should not be making music (there are exceptions to this for sure) But at the end of the day, if you cant be bothered to create something unique , and learn the craft to to do this, why can I be bothered to listen to the music? The answer is I cant Honestly the sounds on this Drum Monkey plugin are the worst I have ever heard. In 2003-05 times, used to use a free ware drum program called leaf Drums that even back then sounded leagues ahead of this pile of shite. Unison really are Cancer of the plugin world
my worst plugin in the drum monkey, and tooooo much cash for it, and it sounds like trash, like a 5 years old was playing, that was the last thing that I purchased from Unison

I don't care who you are or what stage of Music Production you are in, THIS IS A SAD LAZY MAN PLUGIN. And for $300.00. Didn't matter even when it was on sale for $99.00, learn your craft people. Learn your craft.
Drum Monkey? More like Dumb Monkey...I'll see myself out.
I made the mistake of buying this crap because there was no demo available. Now I've spent 3 weeks going back and forth trying to get my money back. Unison Audio will never see another dime from me again.
I knew they wouldn't refund anyone. Mate they should never of got you in the first place. Contact trading standards and force the basterds to pay.
Thank fuck AI wont take over music
Larry ohh posted like 27 videos in a row using it, 🗑🗑
That dude got offended that I said I used reaper to record audio and FL for beats. LOL be more openminded. drum monkey sucks. FL has a built in sequencer, with dice roll. Why spend the 300.
@@djsusan00 yea drum monkey reeks. Especially if you use a program like FL studio, I mean unless you are just literally shit at drums but even then you can go on splice and find better drum loops
yo, thats tight as fuck, he sounds like he makes some real quality shit. i dont think my ears are ready for that.
YOU USE REAPER TO DO WHAT?!?!?
@@Weaverbeats lmao
Come on Bro ... do U really just wanna hit a button and use what it spits out? It is meant as a starting point ... and of course U can swap the samples and more .. I don't think its bad .. I just think some of U guys are LAZY ...
i dont want to use this at all
Then you might as well just make your own drum patterns its not that hard to make them
I make Metal music, and anyone who is making metal, could spend around half the price and get EZ drummer, or Superior Drummer and instantly have
1) much better generated beats to choose from,
2) much better sounding drum samples,
3) far more control over each aspect of the sound than Drum Monkey
4) Much better GUI
5) much more powerful tools to modify the beat easily
6) Much easier means to modify beats if simplicity for the beat making process is required, you can keep it to just 1 Knob altered which can intelligently modify any loop, be it downloaded or created from scratch
7) a whole library of related beats fills, intro, verse chorus bridge etc choices and plenty of additional libraries that could be purchased with difference in outlay cost for the programs
8) Far better control internally for the program as it includes its own mixer with verb as well as different drum mics and a compressor
9) They operate as standalone programs as well as plugins so you can construct beats in entirety before even opening your DAW
FFS you can get MTK Power Kit 2 for free and although you are limited for beat loops to start from its sounds several million times better than this
I think the above programs are so good you could use them with just about any genre because they are so easy to use (and indeed you can by loop packs for certain genres)
At the end of the day folks, its better to spend the Hours it takes to accrue the money to buy Drum monkey , on getting your head around the basics of making a beat from scratch. it will make you a better producer /musician and give you far better understanding over many aspects that important when making music. (average day job would take maybe just under a weeks work around 30-40 hours to ear that money, If you cant get your head around the basics of programming drums in 40 hours...maybe you have no talent?)
I kind of think things like Drum Monkey are basically for people ...who probably should not be making music (there are exceptions to this for sure)
But at the end of the day, if you cant be bothered to create something unique , and learn the craft to to do this, why can I be bothered to listen to the music? The answer is I cant
Honestly the sounds on this Drum Monkey plugin are the worst I have ever heard.
Why would you have 300$ to spare but not time to actually make your own drums? Fucking terrible plugin in practice and the concept of not making your own drums??? Why??
