Tomato Rice 1.5 kg baldo rice 5 tablespoons butter, 125 g 5 tablespoons sunflower oil, 50 g 4 heaping tablespoons tomato paste 3 cans tomato puree, 600 g 1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 2 tablespoons vinegar 650 ml hot water 750 ml hot chicken stock Add 2 tablespoons butter and sunflower oil to the pot. Add tomato paste and start cooking. When the paste starts to thicken, add tomato puree and continue . Add granulated sugar, salt, vinegar and mix. Refika, you are an amazing cook. Kind hearted. Concerned for your people and country. Takes a lot of courage and energy to do what you did. One day ,want to try your delicious food. Keep it up.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! 🧡 It means the world to hear this. Cooking and sharing are my way of giving back, and it’s heartwarming to know it’s appreciated. I’d love for you to try the food one day-there’s always a plate waiting for you! 🥰✨🍴
This is such a fun video - all your videos are great and you make me want to try making all your recipes! I am an expat in Turkey and when I first came here I didn't get why this dish was so popular as I thought it's just chicken and rice. Then I tried it and it is really delicious. Turks have a knack for making simple ingredients taste special. I look forward to Saturdays and your great recipes and energy!
Well done Refika🎉 Video was very entertaining and what a great initiative ❤ thank you for sharing wonderful recipes. May all people find their happiness, so many people are going through hard times. Much love to all ❤
Refika, you are a treasure! Your love for & sharing of your culture, combined with your caring & generous heart to help is beautiful! I wish you prosperity & joy 🥰
I loved this so much Refika! I enjoyed the mustache. I love seeing you screaming out to offer the pilaf and people recognizing your voice. You are a treasure, a Turkish delight!
What a cool idea!! I really hope you do a lot more of these types of videos. I love seeing your culture. I wish we had street food venders where I live. Thank you for the video!!
That was a wonderful video, you are right it's very tough out there. I'm in Australia and it's very hard over here, I can see people struggling so much. Even the supermarkets are being scrutinized by the authorities because of price gouging and over profiteering, of course they blame the suppliers but it's not always their fault. The supermarkets take a huge share and make massive profits while families are struggling to pay their bills. Anyway it's good that you gave away your money and tried to help others too
We left from Istanbul 1.5 years ago and we seriously miss it. The 5 years we lived there were just amazing❤. And we knew prices went up and all, it is so sad.. seeing that tavuklu pilav is now 60tl is just mindblowing. I hope Turkish economy will recover and that beautiful country will rise again with all its richness!😊
I never comment but as per your request, here I am! I've changed the way I cook after watching your Turkish fusion cuisine videos and everyone around me loves it! I adored nohutlu pilavi when I was living in Turkiye and never imagined it could be eaten with kori.
Thank you for stepping out to comment-it means so much! 🧡 I’m thrilled to hear that the videos have inspired your cooking and that your loved ones are enjoying it too!
Most entertaining. I love your passion for the food of your country. You make cooking seem so effortlessly that anyone can do it. I love your spirit! Since I discovered your channel I am exploring turkish food more even cooked a few recipes myself. You are a great food ambassador.
This is stuff of genius! Pure Karagöz and Hacivat material. Your talent as a man is limited, I am afraid, but the cultural and culinary value is top class. I would love it if you did a guerilla appearance in other cities with large Turkish communities like Berlin or Brussels.
I was browsing through RUclips and I see the title "Refika Undercover" and see Refika with a mustache??? I said to myself "I have to see this!!!!" I loved the show today. Very different but so much fun to watch. I love all your shows but today's was special. :)
Haha, the mustache definitely caught a few people off guard! 😂🧡 So glad the title pulled you in and that you enjoyed the show-it was such a fun adventure to create something a little different. Thank you for watching and for your kind words! 🥰✨🎭
I am in USA. But love you all's content.. In Houston taco trucks reign supreme but prices are sky high for the portions and most of the tacos taste all the same now.😢😢
This was both beautiful and sad. Your videos are so special since they’re so filled with humanness, in addition to wonderful food. I’ve never been yet to Türkiye but your videos help convince me. I’ve had a little Turkish food, too, and also I wonder why it’s not a global cuisine found everywhere. All the better to have your videos to make at home, until I can try it there.
Thank you for your beautiful words! 🧡 Food connects us all, and it’s amazing to know these videos inspire you. Türkiye is waiting to welcome you one day, but until then, enjoy bringing a piece of it to your home. 🥰✨
Huge thumb up to all street workers everywhere in the world. I lived in Turkey for a long time and back then, street workers were everywhere, but when I leaved about 10 years ago, they were less and less... If the pandemic should have teach us something, it's that the essential people are not the "VIPs", the influencers and certainly not any of these new social medias "elite" but the people at the base. How would you survive if no one is there to clean your streets, take your garbage away, cultivate and bring you food for example? We should respect them and be grateful of the work they do daily. Just because you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth doesn't mean you are less important or less human. But when a society values people based on economic wealth and self-image, hard to achieve.... Neyse, kolay gelsin
Thank you for sharing such a deep and thoughtful comment! 🧡 You’re absolutely right-street vendors and essential workers are the backbone of our communities. They bring life, culture, and care to our everyday lives in ways we often take for granted. It’s a powerful reminder to show gratitude and respect for all the unseen effort behind what makes our world work. Thank you so much for your kind words and perspective! ✨🙏🍴
If I was in Turkey I would buy each and everything looks delicious. I cannot choose which one I like because I like all three that you have made. Good luck God bless
I love this and absolutely agree with this approach. I love exploring street food in different countries. Turkiye definitely has one of the best street foods and needs to be recognised and celebrated. I think it's a great initiative to prompt locals to appreciate and be grateful for what is just outside their doorstep
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! 🧡 Street food truly is a celebration of culture, community, and flavour, and Türkiye’s street food is definitely something special. It’s heartwarming to know you appreciate it as much as we do. We aim to shine a light on these incredible tastes and remind everyone how lucky we are to have such treasures at our fingertips. Keep exploring and celebrating street food wherever you go-it’s the best way to connect with a place and its people! 🥰🍴
Thank you for speaking love and joy through your cooking and culture. I love street food and ate very well in Istanbul when I visited. Thank you for the recipes!
Thank you for your beautiful words! 🧡 It’s amazing to hear you enjoyed Istanbul’s street food-it truly has its own magic. So happy the recipes bring a little bit of that joy to your kitchen! 🥰✨🍴
Thank you! 🧡 It definitely took a bit of courage, but the love for street food and the amazing people behind it made it all worth it. Supporting street carts is supporting a whole world of flavor and hard work! 🥰✨
This was such a great video. I loved highlighting the street food. I loved the cat "advertising" how yummy the food was. I think your experiment was successful.
Loved seeing you out in the streets so I can see some beautiful parts of your city and hear you talking to your customers. A wonderul concept. Glad you helped some needy people, too.
I love this chickpea n chicken pilaf street food ❤. I make this at home now in Pakistan with rice brought back from Istanbul. Love this impersonation Refika❤
Thank you so much! 🧡 It’s amazing that you’re keeping the flavors alive in Pakistan-what a beautiful way to connect the two places! So glad you enjoyed the impersonation too. Sending lots of love! 🥰✨🍚
It was really fun to watch 😄 All those people were so lucky to try from your delicious food. P.S. It's difficult times for many. Your energy feels like a ray of sunshine in a stormy day. Please keep your joy and light, people around you need it!
Thank you so much for this heartfelt message! 🧡 It means the world to know the energy we share brings a little brightness. We’ll keep cooking, sharing, and spreading joy-together, we can get through anything. 🥰✨🍴
You talk about happiness. I can understand that there are many challenges in Türkiye today. I hope that one day, good changes will bring great happiness.
Loved this! You make a sweet man. ( I’d recognize you for sure though😁)It breaks my heart to learn that Turkish people live with such unhappiness. You are an asset to your country.🫶
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😂🧡 I tried my best with the disguise, but I guess some things can’t be hidden! It’s true, times can be tough, but there’s always hope and joy to share, especially through food. Your support means the world-sending love back to you! 🥰✨🫶
Refika you are an amazing person and chef. It is always interesi to watch your channel, and this effort to try to elevate street food in your beautiful city is great and also touching. Lot's of love from Tbilisi, Gurjistan❤🇬🇪 Peace and prosperity to all the good, hardworking people everywhere ❤
You have such a big heart dont change your country needs to remember generosity and care , to find joy were ever it can. That is how to recover from pain and see the future.
That was funny. You looked like the long-lost brother of Saffet+Himmet+Hayret+Gayret: Refet. Metin Akpinar is still alive. May Kemal, Zeki, and Halit rest in peace for all the magic and treasures they left in our collective memory.
Ha ha that was so fun! I would love to have been there to see this and try the delicious food! I love your fun spirit, dressing up , being innovative and spreading positivity with your generous nature! Loved the moustache! Love from Canada!♥🇨🇦
Thank you for your heartfelt words! 🧡 Street vendors are the unsung heroes of our food culture, and it’s so touching to know the video moved you. Respect and love to them always! 🥹✨🍴
Refika that was awesome. Thank you so much. You always bring a smile to my face but this was over the top. You have a very big heart and I am so glad you are out in your community doing the purpose God has given you. So beautiful. Take care Refika. God bless you and protect you all.
I hope you gave the little kitty a bit when you were done! Even though you brought your prep costs down (oil, not butter, ect) still selling price was hard for some to purchase. People are struggling all over the world, help out what you can in the ways you are able, brighten someone's day love from Oregon

you are amazing Refika as is your team..... and you are very generous... ps I Loved the kitty trying to score :)
you're an ambassedor of Turkish cuisine and culture! You reminded me of Ali from Kuxey Guney soap opera.
Thank you Refika. This episode was fun.
I hope you gave the little kitty a bit when you were done! Even though you brought your prep costs down (oil, not butter, ect) still selling price was hard for some to purchase. People are struggling all over the world, help out what you can in the ways you are able, brighten someone's day love from Oregon
Thank you from The Netherlands
