I think a lot of C4 owners have gone underground lately as the haters have really come out with the negative comments. Yes, they're not the monster HP version of a Corvette and are hard to get in and out of but they sure can corner. I enjoyed being an owner for 21 years before selling mine as my health declined to where I can't perform the maintenance myself and can't afford, or trust others, to do it. It was great while it lasted.

Gen z young people are into the retro stuff that they remember seeing. It's definitely a car I have always wanted (like a hot wheels I had as a kid). An orange c4 sat in my grandma's garage.
The people that want em are getting them before the good ones dry up. I'd love to do something radical in a c4

The C4 Corvette, the Ferrari 512TR/Testarossa, Lamborghini, etc. are Gen X poster cars. Plus the C4 is not the bastard child, it’s the only corvette so good it had to skip a year.

I bought my 1987 Z52 brand new from Lustine Chevrolet. I was 26 years old then. I kept the car all these years and started restoring her during covid. Now, she is better than ever. I still have to upgrade the brakes and do another carpet replacement! Other than that, she is now more than competitive with today's Hellcat's, and Gt's, thanks to the Blueprint Racing engine company. I also recommend for all OBD1 models, Go Fitech or Holley Stealth. I love tuning on the fly, and data managing live. I love going the car shows now. Cars and coffee are great too. There are not very many C4's around. Mostly C6, C7, and some C8's. Even with all my work, my car cost under $25,000, one fourth of a new C8.

Has Full stuff., 8way seats,Bose(But as The 90s Alpine and speakers hope to get Bose back someday), Automatic AC, Heated Mirrors, HD fan and Auto Tranny.Has the Bilsteins. 92k on it. I am doing the front wiring harness from the bad accidents its had from previous owners. Extensive work over many years but it is broyght back from 2k junk pile in 2000 to an really nice car in 2024. I am 39 and just picked up a nice 35k mile 1987 Base Red with the 4 speed auto. What a weird car this thing is, i bought it mostly for that awesome digital cluster... but man this my daily now. It is replacing my 2015 RCF that would stomp it in EVERY single way. This thing is a practical car for me and gets fantastic gas mileage. The cruising capabilities are excellent and it moves effortlessly. The thing that sucks is the l98 tuned port falling on it's face at the top end which is a weird experience. Basically tuned like a truck motor, so i've researched upgrades i would like to do, but idk if i really want to do them cuz i don't want this to be a balls out racecar. I have a car for ultra high performance modern stuff, this thing just needs to be a strong, reliable, weird, and silly road car. 30mpg highway and 20 combo for me is.... silly when you think about what it is.

@@E.T.GARAGE hah! That is where i am leaning after experiencing it. It has slowed down my driving, allowed me to enjoy the experience of driving, and the fact that its a rolling museum peice is a weird combo. I really think more people are going to catch on to how oddly satisfying these things are, but i dont want it to catapult into the stratosphere where people cant enjoy one because of the price.
Oh you’re absolutely correct as well on buying a good condition one instead of a ratted out one. My hunt was full of clunkers and the brakes not working properly were the biggest turnoff

I never really cared for them until recently. Always thought they were bland but the styling has grown on me. Not very flashy but it's still sleek, ironically makes it stand out compared to the C8. Performance is fine for the era and price plus there are plenty of options to change that. I've always liked Corvettes, c6 IMO is the peak of Corvette design, and even had a c3.
Started around the beginning of the year I warmed up to them after doing a bit of research. Really great car for the money. Now I have a black on black '95 6-speed and love it, low miles but I'm changing that. It's not nostalgia, maybe a slightly early midlife crisis. I turned 35 recently.

People that want these cars are in their 40's and making money now and can afford their childhood dream cars. It’s just a phase but the phase for the next 5-10 years will be increasing value. After that, the price will drop again and only the rare and special edition ones will be worth the big money along with those that got resto-modded. I've always wanted a C4 but not in the cards for me at the moment.

I laugh at someone being negative to the C4 Corvette, they are using today’s cars as a comparison which is NOT realistic & here’s why. An 89 Corvette is 35 years old and 35 years before 1989 there were 1954 cars. Comparing the 89 Corvette to a 54 Chevy isn’t a fair comparison either. 35 years before 1954 cars were 1919 cars, likewise comparing these two is not fair either. Point is this, a LOT of changes happen in 35 years & when people speak negatively about the C4 they aren't making realistic comparisons. They’re definitely not appreciating the C4 for the cutting edge technology developed for it which saved the Corvette & leading the way for today's powerhouse Corvettes. The C4 Corvette with the TPI intake was so dominant & fast over the competition (Porsche, BMW, Lotus, etc) that it was kicked out of SCCA showroom stock road racing because the other manufacturers complained & threatening to pull out of racing if it wasn’t banned. This lead to the “Corvette Challenge” road racing series for the too fast & banned C4 Corvettes in 1988 & 89. If one looks at the C4 Corvette history, ground breaking technology & accomplishments it real is an amazing story & amazing car. The C4 also dominated the SCCA’s fastest autocross class until the Z06 Corvette came along in 2001. The tune port injection intake system is one of the coolest looking engines & ranks up next to the look of a 1932 Ford Hot Rod with a Flathead & 3-2 barrel carb intake. The TPI’s instant torque combined with the 6 speed manual transmission & Z51 suspension, is still a blast to drive in a world void of manual transmissions & full of nanny controls.

@user-dc9pg1xz4f I think you're thinking about the 3rd gen camaro and foxbody mustangs! Not too many of them are left! And that's exactly why they are expensive! Once enough people have trashed C4s ( because they are cheap enough for the average person) they will skyrocket in price as well but until then there's just too many in great condition for the price to jump!
