Hang in there brother. It takes time to find the right one .took me three years but I finally found the one .a 96 collector's edition LT4 6 speed 70thousand original miles bought for 12 thousand. Just have patience the good ones are out there and don't settle for less
I have been into C4 for many years and ive never seen really good cars as cheap as they are right now. Everything you looked at was junk. It would have taken thousands to get them right. Try to get one that doesn't need paint as that in itself is gonna cost you thousands . Not to mention not all painters will work on a fiberglass car. Don't get in a hurry and you'll find a great car for a bargain. They are out there.Cant wait to see more C4 content . Thanks for uploading .
I’ve had my 88 35th Anniversary car for over 23 years. The C4 is still the most under appreciated Corvette generation out there. Have to love them though as they are truly amazing for their time. I also have a 71 454 LS5 4 spd Coupe. Big difference between a C4 and a C3!
if you willing to come to Louisiana, i have a black 96 automatic for sale. only 55k miles. weatherstripping was replaced a year ago, interior is ok. paint is pretty good. tan interior with black and tan iggee seat covers. smoked led lighting. runs great, will need a radiator (found a crack in it…slow coolant leak right now), valve cover gaskets need to be replaced, and the polarized film for speedo needs to be replaced (but i have that replacement part already).
I bought a C4 almost 2 years ago after much research, I got a 1996 with an LT4 as that's what I specifically thought was best for me, but it's not one of the cheaper C4s, and I drove across 3 states to get it. From my research, you might want to look at getting a 1991 model year C4, if you aren't necessarily looking for 300+ horsepower. The L98 has gobs of torque and the high-end output of an LT1 or LT4 will go mostly unnoticed around town going from stoplight to stoplight (something the L98 might do better). This year might be the best bang for the buck, there should be many clean 91's at a good price. If you are looking for a manual, get at least an '89 or up, the ZF 6-speed is much better than the DN 4+3. Whatever you decide, I recommend you put enough money into getting a clean and well kept car, as they are worth the price and not incredibly a lot more money versus something that's clapped out.
Yeah, I am looking for a manual, I just can't find a decent one that isn't too expensive. But I wouldn’t mind an automatic. I would swap it eventually. And 91 has the L98. I kind of want to LT1
Have you gone to look at the last corvette in your video yet? Based on how you previously mentioned you liked the 90s SS impalas, it would be a good choice because of the similar color!
I did! The video will be coming momentarily. I made content on it already. I have just been busy with work, but it will be here. Takes a lot of work to do video editing. This video was originally 32 minutes long, but I had to cut it short because it was a lot of talking, especially the black Corvette. I had videoed the owner and basically they were explaining to me that they just wanna get rid of it and it basically look like they wanted to punt the car. So I edited that portion out.
I like shopping for corvettes even when I’m just watching someone else doing it! I’m glad you’re trying to buy what you like not necessarily what other people think is popular, only thing I would say is same as your lady buy the one your dreaming of. I’ve made the mistake of settling and thinking I’ll be happy. Good luck searching I’ll be checking in to see how it’s going. Don’t leave us hanging!
If you plan on modding it and want it to still be 50 state legal, get a 6spd 94-95. The obd1 ecms are programmable and don’t rely on a chip like the older ones. ‘95+ has the vented opti. ‘96 6spd has the LT4, which has more power, but if you plan on modding it the extra price doesn’t make sense, and the first year of the obd2 from ‘96 is actually harder to tune than the 94-95 obd1 ecm.
I have a 92 bright aqua metallic coup, automatic, approximately 77k miles, very nice driver quality in Debary, FL if you’re still looking. Black interior. Paint is very good, no clear coat issues. Interior also very good, driver seat bolster is lightly damaged, recently swapped the driver and passenger seat. New battery, new shocks, newer tires. Not perfect, but pretty nice.
Hello from Quebec, enjoyed your video, I see myself.... Take your time, go see many. Purchased a 1990 base auto with 77k miles last year. White on black, got it from second owner that got it in 91. She's 62 and drove every year, but had trouble getting in and out of it. Needed TLC, but very happy with it. Put 2500 miles in the year I've owned it. Did 5.76 secs 0 to 60 stock. Should be quite quicker next spring. Hope you find what you're looking for.
I have a 94 C4 with 45k on it polo green w tan leather- all original if interested- I'm in S. Florida has a few minor issues but runs like a champ. 6 spd manual.
I just bought a 1990 convertible , black on black. Very nice ride. The only bad thing about it is it needs a new top put on which cost 3k . It seems a little high to me, but still worth the price for what I have. There were only 7640 of them made, and I've never seen one on the road that look as nice as mine. I did get very lucky to find it, and I got it for a good price of only 6200 . I feel that I got a great car that will be in my family for many years to come. I'm not sure if you have found your c4 yet, but the right one will pick you. Don't settle for any other than what you want. Good luck to you and welcome to the corvette family. Jim oklahoma.
Thank you, Jim I really appreciate that. $3000 is pretty high for a convertible top. Does that come with the whole mechanism? Could you just get the material for the top?
Go to Survior Classic Cars in Palmetto. Got my 1989 dark red metallic the other day. I was in 7th grade when it came out and can only wonder what kinda passions went down on seats. Man did I luck out and yes she gets down. I like like to drive after I’ve been in my Mach E all month. It’s got 46,000 miles pretty tight ride…..be warned don’t be me and freak if temp goes high for your coolant. Mine gets to 228 before fan even starts.
Best of luck finding your C4. This will be a journey I eventually will be going on as well. Living in New England plenty of examples near me. Just have to find a good one not destroyed by salt. Been partial to the early body style and the digital dash as I'm just looking to cruise more than anything. The 1993 40th anniversary model with the special paint is pretty nice looking as well for the later models.
bro please consider a early model. IMO the 1987 88 and 89 are the best years of the c4. if I had to get a late model itd be the very last year, 96 with the lt4. the optispark is BS. don't wanna have to deal with it. the early model cars look better, they are cheaper, they are more reliable, the interior is cooler. the 700r4 automatic is a good transmission too. you are doing a good job of looking for the best car that you can. keep it up bro!
@keltechindustries20901 check a kit out from van steel maybe. Just a simple swaybar, shocks, polymer bushings is about all you need. I wouldn't do a coilover swap. Start reading forums.
I was looking for a Firebird as well, but they are still very pricey. They are in the C5 category. I did not want to buy a LT one Camaro. I heard they are very hard to work on because the frame size is very tight. And also, they are very hard to find without the dash being cracked, and I saw a majority of them were automatic.
Im glad the guy trying to sell you those junkers had his mask on LOL. I hear C4 keep the covid under the hoods LOL. Love the C4 content sir I just subbed to your channel. I own a polo green 94 coupe myself .
The ones in Hialeah- that looks a lot like Arminhott, an eBay seller that has a reputation for selling seriously shady Corvettes. Take a look at The Corvette Ben's video on the '73 he bought from that guy and all will be revealed. Run- don't walk. Subbed, always nice to see a car guy from SFLA (used to live in Homestead).
OMG!! I just looked at Covette Ben and saw the video for the green 72 corvette he bought and yes I can confirm that was the exact place he bought his from. The guy had a lot of Corvettes. It was crazy and he had a lot of generations from C1 C2 C3 C4. The C4’s were the latest models he had but he had multiple Corvettes. I am so glad I did not buy from that guy. That guy in Hialeah is diabolical to be selling these Corvettes like that.
There are C4's all over the place that have been garaged their entire life. Find one of those. Picked up a nice 89 6-speed with 66k for $7500 in 2019. Prices are still flat.
I bought an 86 manual. Every c4 needs interior, paint, and weather stripping. Engine work is a given, so buy cheap and build up from there. 3500 dollar c4 is going to need 5k at least to make it nice and reliable.
I 'm starting to look for a corvette c5 or c6 in texas. currently have an BMW e60. I love the car and runs great but the cost of repairs and maintenance on bmw is crazy. You look like your looking for a fixer upper. I have limited mechanical skills, I can do basic stuff like change fuel pumps, water pumps ect. so my search is in the range of $15 to $25,000. any advice since you've been lookin? what to look for and look out for?
You should look for a well-maintained one with a clean title. And since your paying that much I suggest that car should be near perfect, it should have no leaks and have all of the maintenance documents and drive it like you want it, meaning don’t cruise but drive it hard because your spending at lot of money.
If you’re buying a c5 that’s C5Z money. Go with a 01+ c5(all z06s are). Running hard I average 17-18mpg. Driving easy you can do 30+ on the highway. Cars are reliable but they like to eat tensioners if you rev it out often(talking multiple pulls to redline a week). These cars are great daily drivers. Sure passenger room is limited and you only get one shitty cup holder but they make aftermarket cupholders for it and as long as you ain’t got kids you’re good.
@@snipeatyou that's about the millage I get with my bmw e60. 32 hwy, 16 city. I've just started looking. Thanks, plus I think the cost of maintenance is way lower than bmw. A new starter cost me $1500, and new battery was $500.
OH, AND I HAVE ONE OTHER THING TO SAY! YOU SHOULD HAVE GRABBED THAT BLUE 93 CORVETTE YOU LIKED! AND REPLACED THE ENGINE, AND HAD IT PAINTED SILVER! EVERYTHING ELSE ON THAT CAR YOU SAID WAS PERFECT! ALL THE PARTS WERE PERFECT.. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FIND A LITERALLY PERFECT C4 FOR THE TYPE OF MONEY YOU ARE LOOKING TO SPEND. SO SEE IF YOU CAN GET THAT BLUE ONE YOU WANTED! IT IS THE BEST DEAL AND CLOSEST TO YOUR DREAM CAR THAN ANY OF THE OTHER ONES YOU WERE LOOKING AT.. AND THAT GUY THAT WAS SELLING A BUNCH OF CORVETTES IN HIS YARD? THE ONE WITH ALL THE GOOD LOOKING PICTURES AND THEN AFTER CALLING HIM ON THE PHONE FIRST AND ASKING ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE CAR? AND HIM TELLING YOU IT WAS GOOD, AND THAT YOU COULD TEST DRIVE IT?? THEN AFTER DRIVING HOURS TO GO SEE IT? AND YOU CANT TEST DRIVE IT AND THE CARS LOOKED SO MUCH WORSE THAN THE PICTURES??? THAT GUY?? YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE HIM PAY YOU ALL THE GAS AND TOLL MONEY YOU SPENT, PLUS SOME MONEY FOR WASTING YOUR TIME, ALL BECAUSE HE FLAT OUT LIED TO YOU! HE PURPOSELY POSTED FALSE PICTURES OF THE CARS HE WAS SELLING! AND HE INTENTIONALLY LIED TO YOU ON THE PHONE ABOUT THE TRUE CONDITIONS OF THOSE CARS AND THAT YOU COULD TEST DRIVE THEM! HE WAS A SELFISH ASSHOLE CON ARTIST AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL THAT! ATLEAST A PUNCH IN HIS FACE! PEOPLE LIKE THAT SHOULD GET SOME INSTANT KARMA FOR THEIR CRIMES! YOU SHOULD AT THE LEAST REPORT HIM AND POST AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ALL OVER THE CORVETTE SITES ABOUT HIM! SO WORD GETS OUT ABOUT WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE IS REALLY DOING! TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE!
I’m starting to think definitely the silver and the two red ones were towards the end of the video. Someone made a comment earlier about the ones in Hialeah and I found another RUclipsr that has the same problem with those cars. He bought a C3 and he had to scrap the car and sell it for Parts. He lost the money he bought for it.
Please buy a manual, you will thank me later. I had an 85 manual transmission c4 with the 4+3 transmission DO NOT BUY ONE! get an 88 or later that just has a 6 speed. you should try to get an LT1. dont be like me and save money buying an old one. It will be broke down more than it runs trust me.
: / YOU SHOULD HAVE ARGUED THAT THE 93 HAD A BAD ENGINE PERIOD! LISTEN TO IT! ALL YOU NEEDED TO DO WAS PUT IN A NEW ENGINE. YEAH, A FEW THOUSAND, BUT, ALL ELSE CONSIDERED? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH IT.. BUT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING IN TERMS OF OFFERING THE OWNER HALF. I THINK THAT 93 CAR THE BLUE FLORIDIAN YOU LIKED, WAS ONLY WORTH $3000 FOR THE CAR WITHOUT THE ENGINE. BECAUSE IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE.. YOU KNOW TAKING OUT THE OLD ONE, INSTALLING THE NEW ONE, AND THE COST OF THE NEW ONE, WOULD HAVE COME OUT TO ABOUT $10-11 THOUSAND ANYWAY! SO 3 THOUSAND WOULD HAVE BEEN MY OFFER. BUT I HAVE SEEN THE REST OF THIS VIDEO AT THIS TIME, AND DONT WHAT EVENTUALLY HAPPENED? IM GOING TO FINISH WATCHING NOW..
: / OK. KEL. I WATCHED THE REST OF THIS VIDEO AND NOW I HAVE TO SAY.. WHHHHHHHHHHHHAT???? YOU HAVE A VIDEO ENTITLED "MY JOURNEY TO THE PERFECT C4 CORVETTE" AS IN .. HERE IS A VIDEO OF ME SEARCHING FOR MY PERFECT C4 CORVETTE, AND FINDING IT FINALLY!!!!! BUT NO!! AT THE END OF THE VIDEO I HAVE TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE STILL LOOKING? : / NOOOOOOOO BROTHER, THAT IS NO WAY TO POST A VIDEO! YOU SUCKERED ALL OF US IN ON THE GUISE THAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THAT PERFECT CORVETTE FOR YOURSELF, AND THAT AT SOME POINT BEFORE THE END OF THE VIDEO, YOUR JOURNEY, YOU HAD FOUND IT! BUT AFTER 18 MINS OF MY TIME, THE ENDING OF THIS VIDEO IS THAT YOU ARE STILL ON THAT JOURNEY! : / YOU WASTED EVERYONES TIME HERE! MAKE THE VIDEO, AFTERRRR YOU FIND THE CAR! THEN YOU GOT SOMETHING! A VIDEO TELLING THE STORY OF YOUR JOURNEY TO FINDING YOUR DREAM CORVETTE.. THE STORY HAS A BEGINNING AND AN ENDING.. THIS IS NOT THAT STORY! THIS IS PART OF THAT STORY! I HOPE YOU FIND YOUR DREAM CORVETTE, BUT I WILL NOT BE LOOKING AT THE VIDEO OF WHENEVER YOU DO.. PLEASE, WORK ON YOUR VIDEO DIRECTING SKILLS! GRRRRRRRRR............
Personally, I prefer the early, angular bodystyle C4s with the full color digital dash. Invokes a lot of 80's nostalgia.
Me too. 1985 onwards early style with manual transmission is my dream vette.
the later 90s c4s look so clean
I agree
I had a few C4s. They are great cars and easy to work on. You did well to pass on the ones you presented.
That’s why I wanna get one so badly I was originally a Ford guy, but the Corvette always caught my eye.
Hang in there brother. It takes time to find the right one .took me three years but I finally found the one .a 96 collector's edition LT4 6 speed 70thousand original miles bought for 12 thousand. Just have patience the good ones are out there and don't settle for less

I found myself a beautiful 1991 quasar blue 6 speed…awesome car.

I would buy a '91 or '92 with the zf6:speed. If you can pick up a manual transmission '96 with the lt4 that would be nice for your budget.
Yeah, I am looking for a manual, I just can't find a decent one that isn't too expensive. But I wouldn’t mind an automatic. I would swap it eventually.
And 91 has the L98. I kind of want to LT1
C4 91-96 are easy to work on.. Nice video. C4 ZR1 owner
I just bought a 1981 C3 Vette. Easiest car to work on and very reliable. Cool factor is 💯
That sounds like a great find! I love the C3 Corvettes. I like the shape of them. I would get a 82.
@keltechindustries20901 '82 ismy first choice for C3s as well. The hatch is very convenient!
This is similar to my c5 journey. Had to expand my search area greatly. Everybody thought that had gold.
That’s what I have been finding lately. Everyone wants to sell their Corvette, but no one wants to really sell their Corvette.
I had videoed the owner and basically they were explaining to me that they just wanna get rid of it and it basically look like they wanted to punt the car. So I edited that portion out.

I agree with you, settling is never worth it. I'm hoping this journey will lead me to the perfect C4!
Cool vid! I subscribed cuz I gotta see what happens with that Corvette in Naples!
Looks sick! 😃
I have a 92 bright aqua metallic coup, automatic, approximately 77k miles, very nice driver quality in Debary, FL if you’re still looking. Black interior. Paint is very good, no clear coat issues. I had a full racing suspension kit on my 85 corvette, it was like driving a go cart. So much fun.
Interesting what was the name of the brand you were using ? This maybe useful in the future.
@keltechindustries20901 check a kit out from van steel maybe. Just a simple swaybar, shocks, polymer bushings is about all you need. I wouldn't do a coilover swap. Start reading forums.
lol your journey reminds me of mine looking for a 1995 Pontiac firebird
I was looking for a Firebird as well, but they are still very pricey. They are in the C5 category. I did not want to buy a LT one Camaro. I said my budget would be$8500. That’s a typical cost for a Corvette C4.

do an LS swap and you are set!!!
I have heard the LS swap is a popular choice, thanks for the tip!
I love the west coast, our C'4s don't look like this. Mine is clean.

I really don’t mind the automatic. Worst case scenario, I will do a manual swap.
88 still has 4+3. 89-96 is the 6 speed.
GRRRRRRRRR............
ole dude with 3 c4 corvettes doesnt know how to take care of 1 car much less 3
