I guess that's one disadvantage of a sliding table saw - inserts are so much harder to make. I'm pretty lucky ith my not-so-good table saw. It has thick inserts that are really easy to make.
I never realized that those inserts would help to make clean cuts O_O You just conviced me that I will need to make zero clearance inserts for my future homemade tablesaw (based on +Matthias Wandel design btw) :)
I also have a sliding table saw. It took me a while to learn to align the sliding table perfectly to 90 degrees.... I don't use the 5 cut method, I use an engineers square and a dial gauge. Perfect and no wasted wood! Anyone not using a slider can't appreciate what they are missing! More accurate and safer.

Thanks for this Marius, I have a Hammer C3-31, with a 2200mm sliding table. Ive wondered for a long time, how I was going to make a Zero Clearance plate. Because many a time I've had fine slivers shoot back down the saws throat, which can be very dangerous. which also can cause a blockage in the dusts extraction. Cheers from Western Australia.
Good presentation. I've never seen a table saw like yours so it was interesting to see how they work, in the context of a ZCI. I've seem ZCI's made for other style saws, and most people use a purely subtractive approach. When I made mine, I found that to be tedious, so I made mine in different shaped layers, glued together to make the overall shape. I was pleased to see that you used both approaches, "hogging out" and also laminating additional pieces to make the final design. And I really like that the bottom birch piece extends to the side, below the sliding table. Effective 3D design. :)
i was thinking about it for make some zero clearence inserts for my table saw (robland z3200) but all by all i have a scoring unit but i'm still wana to make some just for safety. so after see you making it i have some potential to make them :p great video as always keep up the good work

Only advice I ever received that I'd pass on is practice practice practice. Put a mirror up behind the camera, so that you can see what we see.
This is a major issue for me with my Felder saw. I ended up making my insert out of aluminium, but it is getting a bit worn out after almost 2 years and I don't enjoy the prospect of having to make a new one. I never bothered making one for a 45 degree cut. Have you ever considered cutting them out of aluminium with your CNC?
Nice job. Interesting use of the scroll saw to cut the riving knife slot out. I made my first zero clearance insert last week, and I ended up using my Dewalt track saw to basically start the slot off so the knife could pop through whilst the initial cut was done. It was tricky to align though, and I had to throw one away before it worked. If I had a scroll saw, it would have been better. I suppose you just have to adapt to what tools you have. I hope you found your set screws!
Hi Marius, I'm looking to buy a similar saw and also have a pretty smal workshop. When you were selecting your saw, did you also look at the combination machines? (table saw, jointer, shaper, etc combined) Why did you opt for seperate machines?

Könntest du einen vlog über Sägeblätter für die tks und die bandsäge machen? Grade wo man die hier in Deutschland am besten kauft und welche gut sind und welche nicht... Der Preis ist nicht super günstig aber auch nicht wirklich teuer.
Da hab ich damals grade wegen dem Preis gedacht, dass ich das selber für weniger hinbekomme. Ohne eine Materialaufdopplung, denke ich , hält das gekaufte Einlagebrett auch nicht gut

just a note - you state in your video "3,2 mm right size for M4" - this is not entirely correct, but right :) M4 threads made by using core diameter of 3,3 mm - but the inner core diameter of the finished thread is 3,24 mm since the thread is not cut but also reshaped by plastic deformation so if you use metric threads in very soft materials like wood or very elastic materials that cannot be reshaped you need to use a core diameter slightly below the finished diameter in your example 3,2 mm is perfect for cutting threads in wood but not the right diameter for M4 in a general term - in metal you'll ruin your tapping tool and produce flagile threads
Hard to get... mainly because manufacturers don't sell saws with a long enough spindle. Why? Because it is mandated in the EU that a table saw (and other powered tools - I think) has to be able to come to a complete stop in under 5(?) seconds (H&S). This means that with a dado blade you need a brake and that brake can cause the dado stack to undo the nut. You CAN get saws that accept a dado stack over here (although as you mentioned, they are hard to get), but it usually has a cotter pin in the spindle to avoid it coming undone.
Marius Hornberger That's shocking that the Felder Group would sell zero clearance inserts for their main product line but not for the Hammer series of saws. I've made a lots of inserts for my Delta Unisaws, which is a quick & easy, no-brainer job, but should I own a Hammer series saw, I would definitely prefer to buy them. It looks like too much time and aggravation to make them. By the way, your outtakes were delightful to watch. Please do more.

nice inserts. Don't put your hand behind the saw to pull stock through, use a pushstick if you want to keep all your fingers.

Why not just use a filler to fill the saw slot on your existing cover, then plunge cut thru the filler?
the existing cover is not flush with the table and it also has no mounting options for a filler
