    Well, that's quite the thing. My brain has been asking me how quite it ended up that shape, with the edges intact and the faces and the interior volume removed-definitely not erosion! My best explanation is that its power thingy sploded. It's got to be that, right?
    The aggressively circular circles really make a difference, I think. A creepy element of perfection in something otherwise ruined to the point that it could almost be natural. Lovely.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 года назад

      Cheers man, yeah that was my thinking too. A massive internal explosion and then an unspecified time of decay. How this happened is a mystery though haha

  • @VergilthePoet

    I love it, what an awesome and unorthodox take on a ruin!
    It's obvious how great it turned out, from a modelling standpoint, but it also fits perfectly within playability from a gaming standpoint as well. It's not something you see enough on gaming tables, and it's positively dripping with narrative. I also loved your subtle but effective use of colours, its such an easy and efficient project.
    Someone in the comments mentioned try to rationale the way the ruin has decayed; citing that it wouldn't be natural. While they are technically right, I feel the direction you took invites more questions and mystery. You mentioned that you were thinking about the structure once being a ship that crash landed. We could say then, for example, it was damaged by enemy action. That spawns all sorts of mystery; who was the attacker? Was is another Necron Dynasty? We don't rightly know, and that's what's great about it. Heck, it could have even been scrapped for materials by it's owners, which then spawns a story of desperation. So many possibilities.
    The only criticism I can make though, is that you only made the one. You could easily make a table's worth of these, then vary the heights, shapes and destruction levels. That would amazing to fight over!

      @creativecuts7803  2 года назад

      @creativecuts7803  Год назад

      Thats a really cool idea. I guess because I somehow wanted to connect it to my Necron army, I wanted to match the paint scheme i already had. But I did paint up a crazy Chaos Black Legion army using a black/gold flip paint for the armour. Ridiculous amount of work for over 5000 points but thats all part of the fun right?

    9:37 glazing or a "glaze" usually implies a transition of color/shade/hue, whereas a filter is a more uniform translucent layer to tint. Subtle difference. That Contrast layer (which is really really cool and brings the whole thing to another level btw) is more of a filter, but has some mottling that soften and creates smooth transitions. A hybrid. Your choice of words (you used both terms) would be correct in my book. :) but the overall intention is that of a filter.

      I like your attention to detail. I'm not really concerned with the specific terms more the result I am trying to achieve. Either way, it was the missing ingrediant I was looking for, I repainted my necrons 3 times to get there though. But sometimes the path is the long way round. Still fun though haha. Thanks for the kind words. 👍👍

    Since it's a necron build isn't it technically pure ancient history? Seeing as they are like 65 military years old 😊

      Haha yes, there are several schools of thought on this and so far the data is inconclusive. But I have my theories.. . 👍👍

    You've empowered a powerless pyramid. Classic geometry and proportion stands the test of time. Cutting compound angles and miters can be tricky. You handled it like a pro. Kudos. Fabulous job with the wear and destruction of the piece. Nice carving. See you in the next one mate
