My brother was a passenger and killed by his drunk friend. I teared up when this girl took responsibility and said do whatever to me as long as my friends are alive. The person who killed my brother still hasn’t apologized to us or taken accountability. He shows no remorse like this young lady did. I hope this was truly a wake up call for her because losing a loved one sticks with us for our lifetime.

I was a correctional deputy for years. I’ve seen the aftermath of impaired drivers as they sober up and began to realized the severity of what happened.
The worst one was a man who drove into oncoming traffic at 65mph killing his wife and the four people in the other car he hit.
He blew a .37 bac and it took him almost two days to clear sobering before he was booked. About 12 hours in the sobering cell, he realized what happened.
He started asking about his wife. He didn’t know he hit another car because he was black out drunk.
Once he was informed that his wife and the occupants of the other car were all dead, he began screaming and crying.
By the time he was cleared by medical to be under 0.08 bac, he no longer had a voice.
At his arraignment he informed the judge by writing a note stating that he didn’t want to live.
He was already on suicide watch due to the jail’s policy that anyone brought for killing someone was automatically placed on watch as a preventive measure.
When he got back from his arraignment, he found a way to strangle himself with the suicide smock in the 15 minutes between each security check.
After he was found, we were able to revive him via CPR, but he was brain dead due to the lack of oxygen and was taken off life support after a day in ICU.
I can still hear his screams while he was in sobering all these years later.

Ok keyboard heroes, a few things:
      1. A good person can make a terrible judgement call and regret it. She clearly feels an immense level of remorse in comparison to most people you see in videos like this who act like THEY are the victim. Judging by this short snippet of this young woman on what is probably the worst day of her life, I think she is at the very LEAST taking responsibility for her actions.
      2. My father was a drunk driver and ended up a quadriplegic because of it. Luckily he didn’t kill or hurt anyone but himself. This incident shaped who I am today and I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk driving because I know how it destroys lives first hand. However, even with that first hand experience, I can still recognize that good people make mistakes and pay dearly for it.
      3. Please tell the rest of us normies what it is like up on your high pedestal where you and those you love have never made a mistake? Clearly you feel pretty confident in your level of perfection and I’m just curious what it’s like.

It was just after I turned 12, they didn't want kids anymore. They moved out of State while we were in school. We walked home and surprise: No home anymore. Two years later they started to get into trouble and 2 of us were "reunited" with them. My Brother left pretty quick. I was 14 by then, and got kicked out. They had to take me back again. By 15, I was living with a Sister who hated me. Never got to live at "home" again. When they brought me back the first time, I was being the wonderful little daughter. Figured it was my fault they left. Really screwed me up.

I was driving to a friend's house on a rural highway at 1am in January 13 years ago and happened upon a roll over of an elderly couple in their Buick sedan. I crawled through the snow to their car roughly 30 feet of the side of the road, upside down. I opened the passenger door to find the lady addition in the roof and her husband laying on his back, with his head pinned between the B pillar and the headrest. She was able to stand up on her own, but because of his position, I didn't want him to move fearing he was severely injured. I ripped the mirror of the windshield so he could lay relatively flat. First responders got there and talked to everyone and EMTs showed up with an ambulance minutes later. I handed one of the officers my flashlight and was waiting on scene for it to be returned. They were both transported to the hospital and lived.

    • @hogwild5844
      @hogwild5844 2 месяца назад +11

Indeed. Hopefully she has learnt a lesson and she and her friends will never get behind he wheel after drinking again or get in a car being driven by someone who has been drinking again.
The officers were all amazing in how they behaved, absolute professionals through and through and as others have said major credit goes to the girl who was driving. She didn't try shirking responsibility in the slightest. Owned it completely, cooperated and was clearly deeply shocked and remorseful and clearly only cared that she may have hurt her friends.
In fairness aside from Emily "being Emily" the other girls was also very good and cooperative and honest. I would say aside from the stupidity of their actions in drinking and driving they are a credit to their parents for how honest and willing to accept responsibility they are.
Undoubtedly the driver is going to be in serious legal trouble and serious trouble with her parents and her friends and her friends parents but thats better than the alternative outcome that someone died or suffered serious injuries.

@fredfinger7092 I gave a random stranger who was a friend of a friend of I guess another friend at a pool party, CPR for over 45 mins until EMS got there. I never did CPR a day in my life and it was one of most physically challenging things I've ever done bc its a lot of work, especially for that long. I'm only 5'5 140 pounds this was 6ft 200 pound man. The EMS workers told his parents and I if it wasn't for me he def wouldn't be alive bc he was blue and purple. Everyone else just kept walking by him, he mixed liqour with I think they said Xanax or opioids which caused him to overdose and stop breathing. I wasn't going to watch someone just die if it could have been preventable, that would have left a toll on my mental. Anyway, some how his parents found out my name and address and came over and thanked me. So I know how meaningful that is, thats why I really left the comment. I don't see how you think its creepy, it should be everyone's human nature to care for others.
