When I was in the Royal Navy we were diving a WW2 wreck in Asia to check condition and to monitor! While on bottom I decided to inspect a gun barrel purely out of inquisition ( Stupidest decision I ever made) When I had my head positioned to look down the barrel an eel launched out hitting me square in the face. Broke my nose instantly and it was bleeding heavily, knocked my mask off and respirator. We still had two decompression stops before surfacing. Sitting on those stops broken nose, split lip blood still coming out for over an hour in shark infested waters was one of the most harrowing of my career. The three of us on that dive still talk about it today!

@@xLeaDFusioNx it was horrific. Mask could not be worn at all. It's a case of assessment and solution. Emergency surface was a possibility as we have decompression facilities onboard but it wasn't deemed necessary by the dive supervisor. I nearly whooped his ass on surfacing as we saw many sharks and it bled for just over 40 mins! All fun thinking back on it but at the time it was ass puckering stuff.

Those eels will let you know when you're too close, I was diving for lobsters in south Florida, that means getting down into cracks and holes and using a tickle stick to coax out the lobsters which like the same hiding places as morays. One eel got fed up with divers poking his hole and would charge every diver that dropped down into the gap in the reef. Scared the crap out of us but we'd turn around and watch the next diver drop in then come flying out and laugh. He never bit anyone just charged us.

As a snake keeper I can confirm, snakes are afraid of humans and in most cases would rather not interact with us. This one seemed very curious and it might have been "in blue" which means it's shortly before a shed. The eyes were a little cloudy but that might have just been because it was underwater.

As a herpetologist that has worked with green anaconda in the wild. They show no aggression to people underwater, they don’t view us as a food item so they have little interest in us.

@@backpackingcarlie1487 I don’t know how interesting it would be. The real world of snake science is not as glamorous as what it’s made out to be on TV. I spend more time covered in snake shit, then blood. That is why television producers are scraping the bottom of the barrel, when they’re looking for TV personalities.
I as well as pretty much every other herpetologist that studies venomous snake was approached by the producers of venom hunters, but they weren’t interested in the real science. So they went with an idiot that breeds ball pythons for a living.
100% of the snake venom used for anti-venom production and medical research comes from a lab no exception, The producers want as few variables as possible. Not one drop of venom collected at Rattlesnake Roundup‘s or anywhere else outside an FDA accredited lab is used for any legitimate purpose.

@@backpackingcarlie1487 I completely agree. The way these animals are portrayed on “reality” TV and in Pop culture does them a great disservice, and is far from representative of their actual behavior. As I lay here in my bed typing this, I am literally less than 10 feet away from one of the species responsible for a lot of the venomous snake bites in the US the southern copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix). It came to me from a neighbor, that was going to kill it just because it was there.

During my first open water dive in Rocky Point, Mexico, we were riding the current and came up to a cliff face a large pillar of rock. I re-oriented myself to look up the pillar, just as I did that, a Sea Lion dove in from the top of the rock, booped my mask and stared into my eyes for a second or two, then darted away! Lol @ Woody (well-known animal lover, mind you) just randomly coming out of nowhere, dressed as Aquaman, telling everybody that Orcas are the only sea creature he is afraid of because "they will attack you for no reason, kill you for fun, and then swim away" ... when in reality, as Gus stated, there has never been a single death attributed to an Orca attacking a human in the wild. Then Woody simply goes, "Oh. Sorry. I retract my statement." 🤣

I had an experience like the bird video recently. In LaPaz, at about 40 feet under water, all of a sudden this bird goes flying by. Someone else in the group said it was a cormorant, but definitely my first under water bird sighting.

Being underwater with that whale would be absolutely majestic! Being underwater and running into an anaconda or an alligator in the ocean, it's time to pack up and go home!!!😆

Reptile was an American crocodile. My daughter has dived with them. They’re smaller then their Australian & Nile relatives. Not as passive as the alligator…but nearly as passive.

About orcas, I've heard the same. There's no data about any wild orca attacking humans. Captive ones, on the other hand, are notoriously aggressive and unpredictable.
Might be wrong, though, but because of changes on water temperature we're starting to see orcas on the west coast of Portugal and Spain and I can't wait to jump on the water with them...

Gus is right about the orcas. Only captive orcas have hurt humans. "orcas have never attacked humans in the wild. In fact, they have frequently been documented deliberately approaching humans either swimming, kayaking, or in boats. During such encounters, orcas seem to be very curious and enjoy trying to figure us out."

I've never swam with whales before but in my hometown in MA I'd go on Whale Watches quite often. They are such surprisingly gentle and curious creatures. It was incredible seeing calves grow up and seeing the same individuals year after year. Definitely some of my favorite animals.

You guys... thank you so much for this fun video! Quite instructive too, it´s great to see animals in their natural behavior (when not provoked intentionally). The part with the whales is just so beautiful. I also read that no human was ever attacked by an orca in the wild. Aquaman´s outfit is a killer!

Gus is correct. There are 0 recorded deaths by Killer Whales in the wild. The only human deaths by Orcas are those that are in captivity. They are amazing creatures and extremely intelligent, kind, and docile!! ❤😊
