Wow. The song lives in limitless visceral expression. The warm glow of a traveling mind's imagination, reaching in and through each movement. Man, What a journey.
Wow praise God, beautiful, hallelujah
These are all a bunch of exellent humans together in 1 room ...
The great Kirk Whalum , Marcus Miller , Take 6 ...
Strange to not hear take 6 sing those difficult chord progressions
Indeed!
yeah, I say it often in my head, and this video means that I can say it in uni-son, thanks Dad x, thanks Marcus and team, I think of what Stevie said about his mum, and have to accept that God needs them more than we do. Our duty is the continuation and we move onwards carrying them inside.
So apt for Father's Day and everyday. Tearful, soulful and joyful.
Beautiful!!
I am grateful as this song had me in tears from beginning to end. This is a masterpiece. Thanks, Mr. Miller and friends. May your father rest in peace and his memory continue to be a blessing.
Got it. Well done.
Mean u can't say enough about Marcus he has beautiful soul,I met him back 80's when a friend of mine a bass player (Bebe)took me to a Luther Vandross studio session NYand we hung out with him, that has been highlight of my life ever since ,and Humbleness has been inspirational... 😎👍🏽🥁
Couldn’t agree more!
Thanks for sharing!
Deep and very touching. I’m in tears. Thanks for such a beautiful song. R.M
Marcus Miller a deep and powerful man. Ridiculous Talent.
Agree with pretty much every comment on here. The accolades are all accurate. But just wanted to note, this is the first and only song I've seen where Marcus never touched the bass [guitar]. Amazing!
Killer! And my ❤ is so glad to see Alex rippin’ on alto!!
Wow…that was too beautiful for words!
Thanks for sharing this @ AJM. and thank you to MM for sharing such a personal story. The thing is...as a musician, Marcus [IMHO] is always sharing...always vulnerable...always brave and courageous ...that's what makes his music so great...its personal. To hear him speak about his father is just an extension of his character. I had the honor of meeting Marcus after a bass clinic here in California. A shyer version of myself then, I remember mustering up enough nerve to walk up to him and to thank him for the clinic. Fast forward years later I ran into him backstage at The Capital Jazz Festival in Columbia MD. I was playing bass for a group that was opening for Chaka Khan. He was also slotted to play later that evening. We exchanged quick hellos and for a second I remembered my journey and how far I'd come since that bass clinic. I felt like seeing him was a sign that I was in the right place. Thank you Mr. Miller for being a beacon for music and humanity. I wish you and your family comfort through this transitional time. Peace
