    The AMC Ambassador is definitely a ‘68. I’m kind of a sucker for the dog-dish hubcap and trim ring look, with a narrow whitewall.

    Dad had two of these Econoline's on for parts and one he drove . The one he drove was rustier than the Titanic . He carried a hammer with him to beat on the shift linkage when it got stuck which was frequent . So as a kid I learned some really cool choice curse words .

    The AMC car is a very good project. Would love to see it getting cleaned in a future video. As far as wheel caps on it🤔 both styles look cool they just need to be a matching set. As long as no ugly modern ventilator shaped wheel are on it, both of the stiles are cool. But if I had to choose one, if it was my car I would go with dog dish wheels caps, because they are sporty looking, yet still are classics.

    That Ambassador was a top of the line SST. Go with the full wheel covers. When you get it running, brace yourself for some surprising performance. That is a rare version of a rare car with a four speed and a split bench. Bucket seats were available and something like 98.6% of Ambassadors were automatics.

    I don’t know what you paid for them,but I think you really scored on the Ambassador and the
    Econoline pickup.The Ambassador must be a fairly rare car.I rode in one nearly 50 years ago,but it was a automatic.Very comfortable cars.And the seats that lay back ,probably a pretty popular feature at the drive in theatres

  • @johnellis8480

    I'm glad you got the Econoline pickup, was hoping you would also get the Dodge A100. Back in the late 60's I worked for the local Dodge dealer while in high school, they had one for a parts runner. Fun vehicle to drive on icy roads!

    Nice score on the Ambassador SST! I had a 68 4-door Ambo SST years ago, but it was a parts car for my 69 AMX 390 as it had no title. I didn't get much off of it that actually worked, don't even recall what I did get off of it. LOL. Long time ago....And I am partial to the dog dish hub caps on that ride.

    That blue Chevy is very nicely optioned. A factory short box diesel has to be fairly rare.

    • @dyer2cycle
      @dyer2cycle Год назад

      Not really rare from that era..that was before the big 3/4 ton diesel pickup boom that started with the Cummins Dodge...most of the ones I remember seeing from the late 70's and 80's were 1/2 ton shortbed, and automatic. Those 350 diesels, and even the 6.2 that replaced it was anemic in performance, hard to start in cold weather, stinky, and rattley..only diehard diesel guys bought them new, and they had very poor resale on the used market. Many were later converted to gas...

    Mr. G first let me apologize for posting this observation but in my defense Iam an eastcoaster and to see all that rust free sheet metal still alive and well absolutely blows my mind. around here salvage yards no longer exist but when they did everything had rotted to the ground years ago. as for this contriversial comment, after seeing all and i mean so many cool projects , i dont get only scoring a few old trucks and a bug. sorry i know iam stepping on the feelings of bug lovers and old truck guys but wow there were so many other possibilities. you do get a huge thumbs up for saving that AMC Rebel. so cool its a 4 speed. hope we see what you do with it. i really thought you would save that nice black four door 63 pontiac and that two door cyclone. cant remember it it was a 66 or a 67. as a musclecar guy i hope somebody saved that 65 GTO and the rare talledega. anyway despite our difference in car choices, i love your videos. keep them coming. best wishes to you and your pop. stay safe

    That tool body bed, along with that liftgate, would have been a helluva load for that 1/2 ton pickup, even before you loaded anything into the bed...that type setup is far better suited to long bed 3/4 ton and 1 ton pickups. I can't imagine why anyone would have ordered that stuff on a half ton...
