- Who is the “Itik Queen” of Angono, Rizal? Apolonia Morales has been cooking her signature fried duck or “itik” for more than half a century. Her now 51-year-old recipe was an unexpected hit back in the day and was a result of a typhoon that hit the region wherein there was a shortage of her usual fish supply.
At 86 years old, “Ti Apolonia” is now a living legend amongst the locals and has now established a small store called “Plonia’s Fried Itik.” What is the buzz around this crispy fried duck? Watch until the end to find out!
This Piñakamasarap video was made with love using our favorite ingredients from Marca Piña. Did you know that their iconic soy sauce and other products are now available in over 40 countries? Marca Piña has been around since the 1940’s and is a staple in every Filipino household. Try making this fried itik recipe today!

Nanay Plonia’s passion in storytelling is just lovely. I felt like I was a kid again listening to my lola’s stories.
true sir, I felt like my grandma storytelling too
💞🧓
me too
she's the best!!! she basically raised me and my family lmao our fave since childhood 🥺🫶🏼 the appreciation lola deserves!! thank you for documenting her, she's the history🫶🏼
Aww thanks for sharing!
That's your lola? She sounds like a loving grandmother. :)
@@theexcelproject6973 nope hihi my father used to buy us her fried itik 🫶🏼
Proud resident of Angono! Masarap din yung tinatawag nilang "bacon" ng itik, mahal lang pero sobrang sarap.
Sounds interesting!
Anong part po ng itik yung "bacon"?
I suddenly missed my Lola. I can feel the burning passion in every word from Nanay Plonia's story. I can feel that she really cherished the recipe and worked hard to get it to it is now. I feel proud of you Nanay! We need more like Nanay Plonia to teach the young generation about hard work and taking risks!
The way Nanay tells her story, it's like your lola hugging you on a rainy evening. Happy Birthday po. :)
this is more than just a feature (pardon the pun) but rather this is a visual historical data recording that in the next 50 years (granted this file still exists) people can go back on and learn from.
if the techniques and skill are not passed on, this is the only remaining evidence we have that we once had this. hopefully, her line can master and preserve this art.
God love this lady. Ms. Apolonia Morales 👏👏👏
very "raw" storytelling! Love this!!! Plus the shot of the towel by the window... whoever got that idea galing! Well as always good job team 👏👏
Nanay Plonia makes a really good narrator for Filipino. Natural na natural ang storytelling niya.
Itik is such an underrated protein in the Philippines. Glad to see it on the spotlight.
Yes…kasi nireraised ang itik for Balot and peking duck.
Lola Plonia reminded me of my late great grandmother. Who’s peeling onions!?!
Us. :(
May the next generation learn from her .Her simplicity, hard work and dedication to her craft . Out of desperation she has transformed her difficulty into a delicacy that is synonymous to the town of Angono.
dati hindi ako kumakain ng itik lalo na adobo kasi ang lansa talaga pero nagbago nung napunta ako ng angono dahil may gathering kami ng mga college friends. Dun ko natikman ang fried itik. Panalo. Depende talaga sa nagluluto kaya masarap. Kudos kay Lola Plonia
Video and story like this is very inspirational!! This only shows how resilient, creative and talented, we Filipinos are. :)
That duck is really fried to the bones lol the sauce is the key of giving it more flavor
My go to pulutan when i was young and when i was still residing at angono. I'm happy to see that angono, rizal have been featured not because of arts and the higantes festival, but rather the food that we grew up with. Kudos FEATR!
I’m glad that we bought a property at Eastridge, Angono. For sure, I will look for your store for fried itik, Lola Plonia.😅
I remember the word "MAGKANAW" from may lola. Meaning magtimpla😅
ganyan na ganyan magkwento dito sa probinsya. kakatuwa si lola. also, parang ang sarap ng prito ng itik.
I love this episode! Kinulob/fried itik is a delicacy that deserves more attention. Watching this brought memories of my Lola, Titos and Titas! Yo FEATR, your channel is amazing.
Thank you for sharing and Aling Plonia is legendary in food industry in our country. Puntong Rizal si Lola Plonia. 🙏🇵🇭👼❤️
Prayers and God bless Lola may your tribe increase. Prayers and God bless the Philippines 🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️💯🇵🇭
A Lola that’s proud of her storytelling a legacy that will be passed from generation to generation.Godbless you more Lola ❤
bigla ko na aalala mga Tyahin ko 😭 kung mag usap at mag Hunta parehong pareho ...... sila nag dedeliver ng pakain sa itik from Cardona
I totally dug the Spicy Adobong Itik that my boyfriend's fam whipped up for me back in Iloilo. And now, this right here? It's giving me some serious appetite vibes. Lola's cooking is on my radar for sure! 🧐
Does it have a really dark sweet and savory sauce, pineapples, deep fried red onions and deep fried garlic because if it does then it could be "Patutin"
It's so good!
@@roneemiguelperez1944 , I couldn't recall there were Pineapples in it though but it was spicy and flakey
Where is this place? Google Maps cant find it.. I love duck, so I would be happy to eat there when I am in the area :)
