kapowsin, clay city, and camp 1 history is very interesting. a book that is hard to find titled a shadow in the mountain, and only had one print was put together very well.
Very interesting! I have been wanting to visit the Roy Cemetery. I am reading the book "Fateful Fourth" about the trolley accident in Tacoma that killed 43 people. One of the victims was buried in the Roy Cemetery.
I have never heard of the Tacoma trolley accident. I will have to look it up. The Roy Cemetery is worth a visit if you are in the area. Thanks for watching!
@searchingforhistory Takes a little bit of paperwork online but you can get a pass to go on post. Most of the cemeteries and assorted ruins are pretty easy to find. Some are on smaller scale maps from the USGS. Can see one distinct Chimney from one of the old pioneer houses on Highway 507 right as you cross the railway tracks about a mile from the Roy Y. Off to the west
You might consider visiting the old McClane cemetery in Olympia. I last visited it 40-50 years ago. People had dug up the graves for skulls and any valuables in places and it was totally uncared for. So very sad.
OMG OMG OM OMG OMG OMG OMG I litterly grew up 5 miles from there. I'd ride my bike there All the time and look at the graves. Wow, TY for show casing this! I went to Mckenna Elementary School, if I lived on the other side of the rode I would have gone to the bethel school district, not yelm.
Thanx again for taking us along. Have you ever done a video about Fort Worden, in Port Townsend? I went there in 1988, and saw two weeks later where they filmed the guys doing PT on the steps of the armament, on "An officer And A Gentleman". I was like "holy cow I was just there!" You might want to watch the movie beforehand tho.
That's pretty cool they preserved the Train water tank.
It is the landmark of the town. It is pretty cool.
Saved By Danny!!! ❤

I will see if I can find "a shadow in the mountain" at the library. Thanks!
A number of the names in the cemeteries you show in south Thurston still have family members in Thurston and Lewis Counties. Lots of road names, too.
Yes, having grown up in Centralia, i recognize some of the names. Thanks for watching!
Interesting, while I live not far from Roy,I have never been to that cemetery.
You should check it out. Thanks for watching!

@@AndrewMcelhaney Finding the grave sure does bring the history to life. I really need to get a copy of that book.
Quite a few much smaller pioneer family cemeteries scattered throughout Fort Lewis as well.
It would be cool to check them out. Thanks for watching!
