Artimus, finally getting recognition! Years of battles of gag orders! The original Street Survivor of music industry! And Thank you for your service in the USMC! Semper Fi ,Bro! Yes Sgt Pyle!
Artimus is doing a better job having a tribute band than the tribute band using the actual name and diluting the catalog and making political statements IMO.
Artimus Pyle is originally from Louisville, Kentucky... he was born in 1948, enlisted in the USMC in 1968 - trained in avionics mechanics... honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1971... Artimus Pyle played on 7 Lynryd Skynryd albums.
He did and he's told us many times how his father died in a plane crash as well as his bandmates and friends, that's why he plays the music for them today...His new cd comes out February 2024 and pre-orders will soon arrive...

Saw the ORIGINAL Lynyrd Skynyrd at Murray State Univ. circa 1975, 12:23 with Ed King and Bob Burns on drums. They "warmed up" for REO Speedwagon. REO was touring on "Riding The Storm Out". Great show. This was Skynryrd's first national tour, I think. A memory for all time.
I saw Skynyrd in ‘75 in Sacramento…Artimus came out during the sound check, sat at his drums and played the most impressive fill I’ve ever heard…I remember it like it was last night! I might be just a bit biased, cuz in my opinion, Lynyrd Skynyrd is…THE GREATEST BAND EVER!!!!

I must say Artimus has’s them playing it perfectly and completely original. I don’t think there’s another group that’ll be able to play it to the perfection Artimus has them play. Though Ronnie’s voice is one of a kind and I still believe his original version well always be the most beautiful and heartfelt for generations to come. That song was written at a time when Skynyrd band members were "indulging" and "feeling no pain." Ronnie later said in interviews that he had a bad feeling about where the band's drug and alcohol habits were headed. Gary Rossington had just totaled his new Ford Gran Torino by crashing into an oak tree while under the influence, sustaining injuries including broken teeth and causing a delay in that year's tour. Gary (nicknamed Prince Charming by bandmates) reportedly was also into Quaaludes - all of this is in the song's lyrics. "Whiskey bottle, brand new car...oak tree you're in my way." And later, "Now they call you Prince Charming, can't speak a word when you're full of 'ludes..." Ronnie was warning everyone about the road they were headed down...
