  • Using a center turn lane can be a confusing and intimidating feature for many drivers. Before we dive into the techniques for using the center turn lane, we'll first go over the different road markings that indicate its presence and their meanings. This will help you better understand when and where to use the center turn lane. Then, we'll walk you through the proper steps for pulling into a center turn lane and turning left, so that you can confidently navigate this roadway feature.
Firstly, it's important to note that the center turn lane should only be used for making left turns and not for passing other vehicles or for driving straight through. To turn left from a multi-lane road, begin by signaling your intent and moving into the center turn lane when it's safe to do so. Remember to keep an eye out for other vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians while making this maneuver.
Once you're in the center turn lane, it's crucial to position your vehicle towards the left side of the lane and away from the oncoming traffic. This will give you enough space to make your turn without crossing into the opposing traffic lane. Keep in mind that the center turn lane should never be used as a waiting or parking lane, and you should always be ready to turn left as soon as you're able to do so safely.
As you approach your desired left turn, double-check that there's no oncoming traffic, pedestrians, or other hazards that could impede your turn. Then, carefully make your left turn from the center turn lane, and continue to drive in the correct lane of the road. Remember to signal your turn and stay aware of your surroundings while driving.
By following these tips and using caution, you can master this roadway feature and confidently navigate through traffic.

What if you encounter another vehicle going in the opposite direction of you on the same lane? Does the "200ft rule" prevent that from happening?

@@Zutobi_US I came to the US last year & started driving. It was your channel that enabled me to obtain the right Driving instinct here in the US, which is difficult no matter how much you learn the rules. Further, the tesla safety score helped me get ever more safer. But the principle ideas in practical form, was all your channel. Thank you.

I had to find this video to confirm Im driving correctly.
A lot of people doing left turns from those stop signs into the main road aren’t yielding to me when Im also left turning from the center lane. They try to butt in and try to cut me off but they need to re-read the driving handbook.

Let's say I have to turn left but I can just get to the middle lane because there is oncoming traffic from behind. Am I allowed to use the middle lane to wait until there is a spot to get in the regular driving lane? Or should I wait with my left turn until I'm 100% sure that I can make it across the middle into the regular driving lane? This seems to impossible from time to time due to high traffic, especially during the rush-our. I'm in South Carolina right now.... not sure if it is different in other states. My English is unfortunately not the best but I hope that I have nevertheless formulated the question clearly. Thank you

They're so much worse than bypass lanes in so many cases. People use them to pass and hold the lane too long. Good for insurances and mechanic shops.

Yellow lines mean that you should not cross. Why does this woman keep saying that it is ok to do it? In case of an accident it's a possibility but this video seems like it is missinforming people.
