If that's the case Hillary and her husband Bill & Biden even Barack Obama should be in jail. Everyone one of them have had a hand in criminal dealings.
In the case of Bill, I didn't think he needed to resign from office over a woman. It didn't really matter to me.

using campaign funds to pay for silence is one of the surest ways for a politician to go to prison.

I just wish political officials on both sides were held accountable for their actions. I think too many people get away with too much for too long and we can see this creating negative reactions across the board for the average citizen

I'd love to see a presidential race that isn't reduced to "Don't vote for (insert candidate here) cos they have dirty butts!" You're totally right. one reason Trump is loved, is because he is good at talking smack, good with comebacks and a little witty. And for some reason people value that. But nobody tries to beat him at his own game in a debate , the Dems just try to act "mature''. Obviously acting like a schoolyard bully works on some voters. We need people to see the light and realize that both parties suck, and politicians are to blame. The problem with these charges is the Statute of Limitations is 5 years (can be removed for defendants residing outside the state), the Supreme Court with its majority Republication sided judges and that the sentence will be limited to fines or suspended but no jail time. This is definitely not a slam dunk case just yet
Edit: Falsifying records does have jail time but Trump can use Michael Cohen as a defence to save himself

I hope when all the dust settles on this that the standards and ethics we expect from politicians can be enshrined in law and not just “political norms” that a politician can choose to ignore. A country either has the rule of law or it doesn’t. Right now we have the head of a congressional committee attempting to interfere in a state prosecution in a way that is illegal… but he won’t be charged with anything. That isn’t the rule of law. It’s what we see in authoritarian regimes.
