thank you Jerry for having it restored to they way Steve had it 🙂👍 Le Mans is a awesome movie the filming is pure adrenaline not stupid fake cgi crap we get nowadays !!!
Nothing Hotter Than a Nine One Seven Going Down the Mulsanne Straight. IN 1971 IT WENT 3,300 Miles in One Race Average Speed around 140 mph ::: Flat 12 Air Cooled,, 4 Speed Trans ,, Liquid Frame
@@NigelTufnel612 no sirr the average speed was 140mph'' its a statistic that is recorded for every race and that was a record average that wasnt broken for 30 or 40 years
I sat in this car about 20 years ago in a very famous shop that restores and does Porsche work and there was no signature or anything on the door of the car did they take the door off originally and store it away?
Oh I forgot I also saw that car rennsport in Daytona no signature on the door and yes that is when Jerry Seinfeld owned the car but did not come to renssport because he had a prior engagement
i dont know how original that car is being a movie car but the real one number 22 car that won in 1971 is Priceless it created records that lasted for 3 or 4 decades :: all the fast big engine cars got outlawed by the racing commission
Pay a little closer attention and you will hear.....and read above, that it goes under gavel at Kissimmee in Jan 2025. Those rocket scientist degrees, I know, don't serve as well as they used to.
@@edmatthews9235 I know the guys that restored this car. The signature is a reproduction from photos of the original signing by McQueen. I’m guessing over $20.
@@angelcanetti8176 To me, the fake signature doesn't add value. The car will go for a crazy amount simply because it's a 917 and few exist much less come up for sale.
Yes, the autographed message was painted over after the Buenos Aires 1000 Km in 1971 (and several times since) but it’s very accurately replicated, presumably from photographs - I’ve seen a photo of the 917 at Buenos Aires in ‘71 with McQueen’s handwritten message on the door and it’s identical to that. They’re not trying to pretend the writing is original as such, of course, but it is genuinely identical to the original. I think it’s just a nice touch.

You forgot: AIR COOLED!
..... and playing with Aurora AFX slot cars !!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
I still have this car in a Tyco Pro!
@@danielrich3637 i had one it was white in color
Here too
Great memories !
The iconic Gulf livery Porsche 917 never won Le Mans except in the Steve McQueen film. Helmut Marko of Red Bull fame won Le Mans in a Porsche 917.
Congratulations to the guys that got this thing finished on time for this display!!!
Probably fake
This will be my 5th year attending Mecum Kissimmee. Looking forward to see this cross the block. Should be pandemonium!

Way faster than 140; Derek Bell hit 249 mph on the Mulsanne in a 917 (pre-chicanes).

That car should be more valuable than a Ferrari 250gto
Can't wait to see just how much I can't afford this car.
Yeah No your place lol
Be glad you can at least breathe the same air😊
Vic Elford went 247 mph on the straight at LeMans... In a 917
I wonder if Nick Mason has seen this 😊
I have a photo of this exact car with my 4 year old sitting in it, hanging in my den. It last sold in Monterey for $4Mil I believe.

A 30 year old respects a car born decades before him. Nice

I wonder what the estimated price is? Anything more than $4,000.00 and I will have to bow out! 😂🤣 Update. I believe 25 - 30 mil.
The Porsche 917 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, once in 1970 and again in 1971.
Huge money
I am genuinely curious what the selling price for this is going to be!!

What did it sell for

The auction is next January
👍
I will go 15 million on my guess or it should do at least that.
My math is 8 million for the car and 7 million for the McQueen bump 😊
More. The other sold for almost that much several years ago

So if it was painted in another livery before being restored to movie spec, is the autograph a reproduction?

Wonder if Seinfeld ever drove it
Would be good in and self staring episode of comedians in cars getting coffee
Oh I hope so.
