I also caught the pleated high rise bug a few years ago but having tried multiple trousers, some in both configurations, I've come to the conclusion that while high rise do tend to work well for pretty much everyone, the 2/3 rule and all that, pleats are a lot different, you have to be the right build, on the tall and athletic side and even then it depends on the fabric and what kind of pleats, they can easily make an average gentleman look shorter and more rotund.
Looking for my first suit. I’m 5’7 175 and I also have larger thighs for my height. I imagine the contemporary size would fit me better than the slim pants. Great review and very applicable to my situation as I also have a 29” inseam! Subscribed.
You can mix and match slim jackets with contemporary trousers as well as sizes e.g. 38 Clim jacket with 34 contemp trousers. Just mention it in the comments when ordering. Unless final sale or they are in low quantities, they should be able to accomodate. Also, procounced gwa-bello and bar-chetta Also, very rare to find a true four season worsted. Most are three season at best.
I got it when it was final sale, so it wasn't an option, unfortunately. Thanks for the Italian lesson! Lol I tried to look up how to pronounce the words and I got mixed pronunciations.
those shoes would probably look more in line with the suit bar laced and with flat laces rather than round ones. Shoes are the key element of a look, a not so fortunate choice can ruin an otherwise great ensemble. Socks too, those look too cottony, ribbed dark navy thin wool or cotton silk are more elegant. Mes Chaussettes Rouge are a great source, I have Gammarelli and Mazarin pairs that after years of wearing, washing and ironing are as good as new.
@@dogrescuer1321 different shoemakers have slightly different lengths, I'm mostly buying shoes from Septieme Largeur and TLB Mallorca and with both you can choose round or flat ones and they provide good laces. I also tried buying them from shoelace specialists and AliExpress but either the length was off or they didn't look nice enough. I iron socks because it tends to make them softer, they look nicer rolled up in the drawer, but I like ironing, not unlike shining shoes it puts me in a zen state, not to mention all that vapor seems to young your skin up.
Sadly, Spier & Mackay doesn’t tailor more towards classic menswear (pleated trousers). If more of their suits came standard with this style, they would be a really solid option.
I completely agree. That said, their cream and olive cotton suits from this Spring/Summer season came with high-rise trousers. Maybe it's a sign of good things to come!
@@LB-kr5ku Interesting. This is the only Spier & Mackay suit I own, but the suit jacket is about as long as their sportcoats on me. Maybe it's just this suit...
Thank you! It may look like that from the angle in the video, but I think the sleeves for this jacket fall down to the end of my wrist, as the shirt does.

Finally a great review with someone with a good physique in their suit!!
Love how detailed and informative your videos are! Great Suit!
Thank you! I can see your comments now! Lol
Great review. The jacket's sleeves are perfect - you only need a white shirt with slightly longer sleeves. Just my opinion.

@@Rickboss212 It was slim.

Where do you get your laces and at what length do you prefer for bar lacing? Ironing socks is not for me, but het go for it.

@@TheHulseyStyle Let’s hope so. I’ve also noticed that their suit jackets seem to run longer than standard length.

I think the shirt should just be longer instead of the jacket sleeves being shortened.

link please?
Spier typically sells this suit once a season, but they do not have one up currently on their website!
@@TheHulseyStyle i ask because they dont display pants with the jacket.
but it looks sharp on you. the exact way it is
