Hey bud, on the two timing chains that go on the heads themselves, which side uses the oval marking and which side uses the circular mark? Just curious.
The Cloyes product appears to be the real deal - better than OE? I have had no luck with other AM timing products. Need to try Cloyes. What is the retail price of that kit? Worth it?
Nice job, I get to do this tomorrow, but 1 word of caution. some RTV's don't play well with certain other rubber seals or gaskets, they can cause early breakdown of the rubber, due to the solvents in RTV.
How come after doing the timming i started the vehicle and i can hear it knocking on one cylinder, when i disconect the injector socket it stops what cud be the cause??

I have a question. I'm doing the same JOB on a 2008 G35. I have the left ignition cam on time, but the right cam won't aline into time, just the chain, and it alligns perfect to a seal. Now my left ignition cam aligns perfect to the engine DOT with the chain. The right is on the direction you pointed to, but the left in the direction of ALL DATA!. am I still here in time, or do I need to get both in the same direction? Facing the DOT or the Seal? What can i do?. Any advice will help. Thank you kindly. - Daniel.

Thanks Aaron for this video I completed a whole timing change replacement with a total success broke 2 bolts part of the business! Planning to get a cupe g35 here in NZ named as skylines
So as long as the exhaust and intake dial are facing up it does matter what position the crank sprocket is facing because I didnt put it at top dead center before removing chain so can I just remove everything and do it the way you did ?
Hey bro I need help! So I tried doing this. I believe I didn’t time it right and now it won’t start. One of my friends say that I ruined it, that I bent a valve and that’s why it won’t start. Another friend says it’ll be fine it just needs perfect timing, advises me to just try again. What do you think?? Thank you!
Jesus Perez so i was off my first couple of times with timing too and since it was only a tooth or two off mine didn’t start either. You can easily check your intake valve and see if any are bent by taking off all the manifolds but I would try it again make sure all dowel pins are installed in the sprockets and line up with your cams that was my mistake I had to transfer them from my old cams to my new ones and then I had to make sure timing was good. When it was off by one tooth it ran but it misfired like hell
“i’m just not touching that bolt ever again” 😂. ik this comment is like 4 years later but im planning on pulling and rebuilding my 06 vq35de so any videos help, thanks 4 years later!
Hoping someone know the answer to this. But I got the cloyes kit for my 04 g35x and the upper chain guide on the new guide is missing the middle bolt hole. I have 3 on the old upper guide. I never replaced anything previous.
Should i change my head gasket myself? My 06 coupe is still overheating with a new radiator, water pump and therm, i dont even know if it is the head gasket because im not seeing any milky substance in the engine, or leaks, i dont know what to do lol
Find a shop that has a tool that can test for vacuum in the coolant system. If It can hold stable vacuum, there is no leaks. If there are no leaks and its overheating, it's most likely air in the system or your thermostat/water pump was improperly installed.
Tayvien Watts gotcha, im def gonna bleed the system out to see if i can get all the air out myself and if that doesnt work then im gonna take it to a shop to get a proper diagnostic
@@C0nspiracyNy park on an uphill if you can and open the rad cap USING A THICK RAG in case the coolant is hot enough to burn skin and let it idle and slowly give it revs (watch the rad cap, there will be bubbles, will also spill over so bring extra coolant if you dont have a lisle funnel to attach) Heat on full blast. A/C off. I'm a ghetto DIY mechanic but this will probably help if there's any big bubbles. If you're able to put load on it and drive it, let it warm up, drive it hard (no more than 5k rpm is needed, just put load on it) and pull over and quickly bleed the system from the bleeder valve. Hopefully you find something that will work. There is also a factory repair manual for bleeding the vq35.
I wish you would get it all in time and then point camera directly at both bank cams. With these engine only real way to know if timing jumped is know exactly where lobes are suppose to be pointing...
Yeah you scared me at first but then I remembered it was just the timing cover bolt. Still not good but there's reinforcement bolts nearby and I have faith in Toyota FIPG :)

Dude the crank isint in the right position the chain link is lined up but the cam locking pin has to line up with the line at the same time as the chain link
Difficult but removing the fan and maybe radiator and support bracket might give you enough room. Otherwise you'll need to also remove front bumper and beam support.
