It's good that you found the failure, it could have been worse!! I can't wait to work on my Fiat Spiders and I hope I can shed some light on the disassembly/assembly process. I want to hear this engine run soon. Best regards
WOW! So lucky the shell didn't slip and cause a bigger problem. Based on the temp in your garage I'm guessing this was during the "Great Freeze"? Although I cool my garage, I don't heat it. It got down to 48F in there. Harbor Freight engine stand $42 plus coupon. How does the oil not leak out of the front of the crank? I didn't see a seal.
Definitely the freeze! Off and on cold as Texas does! There is a front main seal just like a rear main. Almost the same size too. I’ll need to just not be cheap! I need to invest in one for sure. I would use it to be worth it.
Nice job. I can't thank you enough for these videos. I'll be able to reference them when I'm ready to rebuild my engine. Hope you check out my progress on my latest video as well. All of my sheet metal repair is finished. New floors, rockers, crossmembers and numerous patches.
Hallo, Nice Video again! i think you did 2 mistakes in you build, first: you have to build in the Crankshafe and the main Bearings whithout the Pistons. So you can check out if the crank turs easy whithout any Torque. The smales parts of dust or dirt can destroy your new Bearings! second: the kork gaskes for the Oilpan have to be fitted whith some silicon or Pu fluid, mainly in the corners. Better ist the Rubber-gasket from the later models ( Fiat Panda / Seat Marbella) Try to find a Alu Oilpan from the 52 Hp Engine for better cooling. I did not see you fixing the Valve spacing, 0,2 mm for the Outlet and 0,15mm for the inlet Valve. keep on your nice work!
