    Oh man, thank you for including the bit of you sifting through shavings for the tiny piece that broke off.... makes you at least APPEAR somewhat mortal...
    Really great work as ALWAYS

    I like to see little details like you starting a sawcut and using different techniques. It is something to hear and see you explain things in a dedicated video, it is something else to see how you work on a regular. Which is the same I still like to find little details to think about. And I do practise from time to time.
    In short, thank you for your videos!

    I’m glad to see you’re back to doing more down to earth woodworking videos, all the personality stuff was fine, but there are so many guys trying to be everybody’s best friend it’s starting to get crazy. I purchased that dowel plate because of you, it’s nice to see you working with it like that. Great job

    I am sure you have answered this many times what brand of carving tools do you recommend and what would you buy first small set that doesn't break the bank would be great.

    • @WoodByWright
      @WoodByWright  3 года назад

      It really depends on your budget, but do not buy anything cheaper then $10 a chisel. those will only end in tears. usually I say Schaaf is the best bang for the buck. also I generally tell people to buy the chisels as you need them as most sets are only a best guess. Start with a mid sized V-tool and a bench chisel. then from there buy the gouges that match the profiles you want to create. most people buy a set and use the V-tool, the straight edge and one or two gouges, and then they compline the gouges they have do not fit what they want to carve. if you really do want to buy a whole set then this is about the best beginner set I can recommend for the price. amzn.to/3v9u9Qd

    I have a serious question for you. What do you recommend for V gouges and other gouges? I have a very difficult time finding any. Years ago, When I was young and naïve, I bought a set of chisels from those traveling tool sale tractor trailers that used to show up in grocery store parking lots during the summer and had bought a set of "Cummins Tools" chisels. They were garbage, but I had managed to make a couple of them work over the years. Whenever I look for gouges, all I find is very cheap stuff, meant for carving in clay or balsa, and little to nothing else. It doesn't seem that Stanley or other major makers seem to make them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    I really like the little details that you include in your videos like making the small cuts with the marking knife before start to cut the the wood and how you mark all the way around. That is something that I haven’t thought to do but would really help me get squarer cuts on the occasion that I do make a cut by hand. Where did you get your dowel plate? Great video.

      Thanks. That means a lot. I'll keep him coming. The style plate comes from DFM to works. I think there's a link in the description I'll have to go look at that.

    if you clamp a piece of scrap across the end grain you won't blow out the end when using the router plane. to easy to do with such a small lip.

    Real nice! I heard a rumor that you are working on a hole magnet? You'll be able to move misplaced hole in wood to the correct location! Will it also work in plywood and MDF?
