Great group of knives! I only bought one fixed blade this year, a new hunting piece. It's a Buck 192 Vanguard, the Cabela's Alaskan Guide version, and it's a beautiful knife. My other four favorites that I got this year are a Buck 112 Sport, Victorinox Swiss Soldier's knife, a Case rough red synthetic sod buster jr with a flag shield, and a Camillus-made Remington stockman that I found and restored. Cheers, buddy!

I really like that 2nd gen RR highland Bowie. I commented on your original video about that, and I gotta say, seeing it again, and the way you showed the thickness of the handle, I’m liking it even more. For $40, that’s a sweet full tang fixed blade. I see that as a 2025 purchase for sure. Also, those deck knives from Camillus and Pal are really cool. Ive probably got about a dozen fixed blades, so I think 2025 will be more fixed blade focused for me and my knife buying. I love those old vintage Pal fixed blades. I think I heard that they made the Remington stuff before camillus, don’t know much about Pal, but the few pieces I have of theirs seem to be made very well. Cool video, and as always , thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas!

I'm not sure what happened in 2024 but I definitely found myself buying all sorts of fixed blades with many of them big! Really Big! Still it was fun.

Thanks. If you see that I have been or that I am becoming one, please slap me across the back the head. We all have our favorites, but that doesn't lessens somebody else's knife choices.

The Rough Ryder hit my eyes for some time but I felt … hard to say … like a fool.
Now I see it’s totally serious to have one.
It’s essentially inevitable of vital importance.
    Thank you, sir!

Thumbs up, subscribed. Very nice video s you make. Schrader, Old Timer, Sharp finger. I carry two, one on each side everyday even when taking out the garbage. I'm 63 years old started using them when I was in 7th grade hunting. Got a bunch of them and get one or two when I see them on sale. Bought two new ones for myself for Christmas this year when I saw them on sale at Wal-Mart. I still have a few M7s and Ka Bar s made in New York State. Also have Buck, 119s, and 120s, from over the years. I did buy 2 Harbor Freight, Machetes for $5.00 each and got them real sharp with kitchen block sharpening stick. All the ones you showed look very nice.

Lots of great pieces. I too enjoy a good fantasy Bowie. I have never understood why some people have to put them down. Really great choices for top five, I would have struggled so much to pick. I may try it though for this fun open tag. Have a great blessed day.

No doubt, the Ek Dagger would work well for its intended purposes. I can see why they sell out so fast. As with many knives, it is rarely that that the knife is bad, it is often I just like some other knife better. Thanks for dropping by and thanks for the input. Really appreciate it. May the new year bring you peace, joy, good health, and prosperity.

Curious about the difference between 1075 & 1095 steels. Colonial and Ka Bar both make US Navy Mark 1 knives. Colonial uses 1075 and Ka Bar uses 1095. Both are close in price. Great video and Merry Christmas.

My favorite three fixed blade knives I got were a Buck 119, a Buck Vanguard, and a used Becker BK-17. I ended up giving my two Bucks to my nephew for Christmas this year, never gutted a deer with either. Done deer hunting so passed them on.

My only additions this year have been two Eathengrow knives. One is the # 143 in AUS 10 and the other is the # 142 in DC 53. Most of my knives are in 1095 as I like the steel. The Eathengrow series I find interesting and is my excursion into other steel types. I like big heavy blades and these two fill the bill.

I like your style, brother. I have been reading up on the KABAR EK commando and have always been fascinated with WW1 trench weapons. I do leather work and have been making several mountain man style knives for customers this year so I've been on an Old Hickory kick. They are much harder to find now that OH is out of business but I've still been able to pick up 7 of the Old Hickory Butcher knives and 2 of the 6 inch "pig sticker" daggers. I'm going to make a few mountain man knife sheaths and a few inspired by knives that would have been traded by fur trappers to native Americans. Keep the videos coming. I'd rather watch knife videos than anything on cable.

@@3vil3lvis Did you happen to read the description of the video? The description clearly pointed out what my intentions were with this video.
"Part of a series. I'll be showing my favorite knives purchases from 2024. I'll be showing the knives in a variety of categories. I will show several knives in each category and then narrow it down to the top five in the category. In this video I look at fixed blades."
There are very few videos that I put out that do not include a description. And very few videos that do not show related to knives for comparison. I know my channel is not for everyone.
