This format is by far the best chess to watch. Classical chess will never be on tv, but these quicker games certainly could. The wild scramble at the end is unreal.

If you recall well, when carlsen was playing nakamura some 5-6 years ago, whenever he was playing chaotic and highly tactical he was losing or in bad positions. Some players are better in chaotic positions this is the case for firouzja and nakamura. Now, when carlsen can keep the game on a poaitional level and go to the end game he is better and has alway been. Yes, carlsen is a better player at his best or not. But some players are very challenging. Caruana was at magnus' level in the 2018 championship, and with a good preparation in classical, honestly a lot can handle a draw against him, especially the top 10 or 15. Now, if carlsen comew well prepared as well like for the WC classical, he would most likely win against anybody. The thing is, he's not playing that competitive chess in classical anymore. Some times, complete silence is preferred. It adds intensity. Like golf. Hold your breath. This doesn't have to be like an esports event. Let's relax a bit ya know?
