Reacher is a drifter. Every book is a new town, a new bad guy, and .... a new girl.
A cool cultural easter egg : Robert Patrick (the old "villain" on the phone) said he didn't give a shit about Sarah Connor. That's a joke to Robert playing a terminator in Terminator 2 and having to fight Sarah Connor.
Also real reference. Richard Marcinko, the founder of Seal Team 6, used to take his new members to a bar and start a fight. It was for two reasons. One: it bonded them and Two: He said he could tell a lot from a person in a bar fight. Whether he'd want them having his back or if they'd be better off somewhere else.

Neagley has a thing which makes her avoid phisical contact. She doesn't shake, she doesn't hug. Reacher is even mindful of that when they travel by plane or bus.
AFAIK, in the books she hugs Reacher ONCE and that's it.
She's also not black or extroverted either. On the contrary, she keeps herself to herself. She's fond of Reacher because he doesn't seem to mind her "condition". On the contrary, he respects it. Oh, and she's hard as nails, too.
But I gotta say, the way they portrayed her in this show is quickly growing on me. The writing is great, and the actress is very likable.
Thanks for reacting to this series ❤ I’m a serious book fan and love Alan Ritchson as Reacher. I just have to let you in on something only a book reader would know regarding the title of this episode…when Reacher needs cash, cars, guns, ammo, etc. he goes to an “ATM”. The ATM could be a meth lab, gang, or any ‘bad guy’ who won’t report the theft to authorities. “ATM” DOES NOT refer to the bank’s automated teller machine 😂 So, when he went to church, it was to find out where the local bad guys are so he could make a “withdrawal”. Notice he just threw the drugs away. Last season in Margrave, he did not buy a gun there. He borrowed Roscoe’s extra gun. And far as Roscoe & Finley, forget about them. Reacher does not ‘do relationships’ or ‘keep in touch’. New book, new season, new town, new bad guys, new casual relationship (perhaps but not always), but more of the same good old ass whooping 😂
I just finished reading the book "Bad luck and trouble" right before season two came out. So watching the episodes now is so much more enjoyable. O'Donnell is my favorite character so far, I love his sense of humor.
I think you might be a rare one. So far, every book I’ve ever read before seeing the on-screen adaptation, has been somewhat disappointing or I spend the whole watch comparing the differences and getting frustrated at how much was left out, lol! The ‘Harry Potter’ franchise is probably at the top of my “sore spot” list in this regard.

Yes, but, you DO see what was left out, which gives you more context for what they did in the series. I read the book before the season dropped, as well. I can see in the series what they are going for and why, but, I have the context of what is going on from the book. So there's that.
The Amazon team has done a great job of adapting this books.

Well, now that episode 4 has dropped, I can see that every book, er episode, is going to be re-written; not just adapted.
I know Roscoe was awesome and is close to many of our hearts, but Serinda Swan as Dixon? I'm here for it to be honest, she's talented, does flirty badass pretty well and she's a stunner to boot. Give her a chance ;)

Yay! We're back with Reacher reactions... hope you get to do them all in one go this time, or at least in quick succession.
I think most of us had the same reaction seeing Reacher's massive build... somehow he does look bigger.
Others have already commented about Robert Patrick, so I'll just say that the Terminator series would be a good one to react to sometime early in the New Year (maybe just the first two movies at first).
He for sure looks a bit different (other than being even larger) I think its the scruff and maybe more tanned? Really enjoying season 2 so far, I was worried like you because I love Rosco and Finley so much.
In Margrave Roscoe gave Reacher Gray’s old gun. Purchasing handguns can be difficult in some states.
In the books, Reacher often referred to a drug gang or other such criminals as an ATM, and apparently they're also his "gun store".
And he flew to New York. Wouldn’t have been able to carry a gun onboard. They’d have enough examination of him for having no luggage.
I cant wait to have this ride thru season 2 with you. So far, so good!

First off, i hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year. I just binge watched your reactions to Reacher Season 1, and very much enjoyed them. The show has been fantastic and cast very well. I enjoy your positivity and look forward to your other reactions. Stay blessed and take care. Al
One of the big things about the books vs the series is just how fast things happen. Reacher isn't Sherlock Holmes in the books. Think of him more like House; smart, but gets things wrong before he gets things right and it takes time. In the series, due to time constraints, he has to just figure it out in a scene, or two.
Other thing is the book doesn't have action action action, least the first half of it. The series has to have it. In the book, Reacher goes to the ATM just to get money. He sees that his balance is wrong; more money than there should be. He calls the bank and goes through a whole thing with the rep to find out who put the money into his account. It was Neagly and she had to track down his bank to do it. In the series, it's a carjacking he stops because, need action.
And... yeah... Dixon. Wellllll...
As for the bar fight? Yes. In real life, the MPs would have showed up and taken them all away. In the book? No.
They are speedrunning things because they have to for time. The post office took them a day or two to figure out Franz was mailing himself items in the book. The password? That took like a full day to figure out in the book and there were four usb drives, not one. In the series, BAM... figured out.
Yes, the drug dealer thing was just for a gun. In the book, he also kept the money.
Only other thing I can say without spoilers is that they are speedrunning the first half of the book because in the book, it's way more about the investigation of what is happening, why, etc. Not very cinematic.

You will not see Roscoe again, except in reruns. Every book is a different setting with different characters! Negley is in a few books, but not the 1st like last season. She was in the 11th book, which is this season. The book was set on the West coast,Las Angeles and Las Vegas, this adaptation is in New York and New Jersey.
I'm watching see what else has changed. Still excellent 👌🏾.

@@cinemawithsteph Finlay went back to New York at the end of S1, Reacher is in NY. Maybe he'll show up for a bit part.... Just speculating, I have zero idea.
@@MrShadowfax42mister speculator, l read all 26 Reacher books, and there's no mention of Finlay or Roscoe on any more books. Only way to see them again is Amazon messing the original stories.
Now Neagley, appears in like 3 or 4 books of the series. His murdered brother plays a big role also on one of the books.
@@Befree898 Yes, I know all of that. I have also read the books. I meant I have zero idea about the remaining episodes of the TV show. TV show could have differences to the books. Yes, I know there's no mention of Finlay or Roscoe in any of the other books (of which there are 28 btw, not 26). They didn't ruin Season 1 by inserting Neagley into it imo. (they may ruin Season 3 if they insert her into it again, though. It's called Reacher, not Reacher and Neagley). Point is, they've already made changes from the books to suit a TV series format, and I certainly don't think a scene with Finlay in it in S2 would ruin this season either.

I have a blurry vision of the future: It's Steph doing a podcast about romance in media! And whenever it's the time to reminisce about Reacher there will be nothing but hour long rants for every season. :D (I only know the tv show, I haven't read any of the books nor do I know what happens in them. So, no spoilers here.)

It's been nearly 3 years, likely Rosco has moved on. She isn't a fool - that is why we like her, so she knows Reacher isn't bound to return. And while we totally shipped the two, they hardly spent enough time together for them to get a "real" connection - which seems to be a thing Reacher doesn't do anyhow.
Well in the books the hunt for Jack reacher, Roscoe has a 14 year old daughter with blonde hair and blue eyes, 15 years after the first book and I think that it’ll be the same if they wanna do a hunt for Jack reacher series if Lee child wants to do it, also the novel version of Roscoe was dark haired not blonde in the tv show, but I think that Roscoe had a 1 year old daughter that’s Reacher’s but can’t contact him as he never had the opportunity to return to margrave at all
Drug dealers usually have guns with no serial numbers and no waiting period on the gun. Plus the money. Lol
Every season there's gonna be a new Roscoe and Finlay. And I don't mind it at all actually :D

There is also a rumour from very good leakers that Alan will be new Batman. So getting bigger might also be for Bats.

Pattinson is Batman in Matt Reeve's universe, but main James Gunn's DCU will have other Batman. And its most likely will be Alan Ritchson or Jensen Ackles (which is my pick, because hes already the voice of Batman + looks the part > not saying Alan doesnt, he does even more, but he would need to change color of his hair.)
Love your Reactions to this Series as well as your Reactions to Films. Perhaps you'll consider watching Lethal Weapon soon. The First One is a Christmas Film just like Die Hard and Die Hard 2. the reason why he took the guns from the drug dealers is because it's a known thing is if you need a gun quick and without waiting, rob a drug dealer they aren't likely to have it legally so who will they report it to

Taking out the drug dealers not only got him a gun, Reacher managed to refinance himself even after the church donation. He does this whenever he needed extra funds.

I'm caught up through e3, obviously won't throw out any spoilers but does anyone feel like they missed the mark on the supporting cast? I'm still very engaged in the story line but it feels like a good bit of the dialogue and acting is forced and out of place at times, even a little cringy at some points when they're trying to throw jokes in. Hopefully it will catch up to the action and plot over the rest of the szn which imo has been aweome so far.
There's a Roscoe and Finley in every book. Sorry. Neagly is the only real recurring character. There are a few minor ones. But not many.
If they are going to follow how the books go. Your dream is not coming true ever regarding Bosco.
Sorry to burst your bubble but, if they're staying true to the novels, Roscoe won't be coming back any time soon.

I know ypu have little knowledge about firearms. So let me help you.
To legally purchase a firearm you must buy either from a firearms dealer or a private party. If you buy from a dealer. You must fill out ATF Form 4473 this is the FBI back ground check. Then if its a handgun youll have between 10 to 14 waiting period. Form private purchase you may still need to fill out the 4473 form depending upon state laws. So for Reacher to go to a drug dealer who is most likely armed with an illegal firearm( generally stolen) is the most logical. A drug dealer is not going to call the police.
He is in NYC, the only way to get a gun is from a criminal, only they have them, no way for to purchase one there.
Please do the other episodes right away LOL. You are a great reactor and reacher is an amazing show. But who knows what happens with relationships lol maybe the woman from margrave comes back!
First, respect your thoughts, season 1 felt same about ending, happy, but wanted more! I'm now through #2 7, and you will agree season 2 is much better, because the past ones of them together, so more about him without killing and beating, which we all live, but him as friend toughes us more. Serinda Swan, like Top Gun 2, shows who he really is supposed to be with. Reason she isn't in season yet, he's a movie star now, watched hers after season 1, has last name as my sister's husband who I love as brother, Willa Fitzgerald. Swan was in my favorite series, Banshee. A cop, who like in this Season 1, works with her, and they start feeling the same as Roscoe and Him. When you see his buddies back then seeing they belong together, will let Roscoe go to meet another, it's Dixon in his heart!

To be honest, the Reacher in the books is like James Bond. Always walking away from a woman.
Roscoe is dead. Grieve, mourn and get over it. Get on board with the new woman......Get to it!
I've never read the books, so I don't know what her past is. But I get the impression that Neely is Asexual.
I haven't read every book, so in one I haven't read maybe there is more I'm not aware of. What I know is that something happened to Neagly, it's alluded to that it was an assault, and that is why she doesn't like being touched and is standoffish. Reacher is one of the few men she feels comfortable being around.
They seem to be hinting at her being Asexual in the show, but in the books, due to some early trauma she does not talk about(and Reacher has never asked, figuring it's none of his business), she has a phobia about being touched. That phobia comes up again this season. I think it is likely she is a virgin, at least in the terms of consensual sex.
I don't think the Roscoe character was very popular with fans overall personally I did find her character unnecessary and she didn't really add much to the first season IMO just FYI I do like the actress Willa Fitzgerald in other things although I don't think she would have been in this season regardless

You still missing Roscoe? I had read all 26 Reacher books, so l know by sure. Reacher will break your heart on the next episode with Dixon😅😂 funny thing Dixon will disappear next season as Roscoe did, but not Neagley, she will appear on a few books of the series. Neagley hates to be touched by anyone. They don't explain in the books why. But she is as good fighter as Reacher.
Another spoiler for you, they started already filming season 3
If I remember correctly, it is alluded to that she was the victim of an assault, which is probably why she is such a good fighter now. But I don't remember the books I've read to the point to remember where it was alluded to...
