42:18 Just extremely intensive training. They take a young guy from the military and they make him undergo an extreme training process that is so intense that it basically reprograms his brain, in order to turn him into the perfect assassin. That's what that guy meant by "project". That is also why the other assassin asked him if he still gets the headaches 36:39: the training process those assassins go through is so intense that they get chronic headaches and other side effects as a result.

The original Bourne trilogy (Identity, Supremecy and Ultimatum) are all good. The fourth film (Legacy) does not have Matt Damon in it but it is worth watching as it reveals more of the story arc. The fith Film (Jason Bourne) is also a good film.

Legacy gets way too much hate, It's actually a really good addition to the Bourne universe imo. I think Jason Bourne was by far the worst of the bunch though. A complete cash grab movie that added nothing to the series. Complete unnecessary.

The origin of his “skills” becomes more clear in the sequels, suffice it to say he was part of a program to produce highly skilled assassins for the CIA. The headaches Clive Owens character mentions before he dies, is one of the side effects of this special training program. Hope you react to the sequels.

I scrolled a bit to see if anyone mentioned this... Damon did nearly ALL his own stunts in every Bourne movie, and they're generally all practical effects. There were a few stunts legal wouldn't sign off on, but 99%+ were Damon.
Eventually, they started strapping cameras to stunt men to follow Damon for a unique shot and also to make sure they got work!

      For cinemawithsteph It goes:
      The Bourne Identity
      The Bourne Supremacy
      The Bourne Ultimatum
The Bourne Legacy (No Matt Damon in this one but explains some things)
      Jason Bourne

The fifth one is kind of a cash grab, but it was also kind of a way to let everyone forget the Bourne legacy was ever made. The first three are their own series, and to some extent the fifth one is just Star wars episode 7. They just made another Bourne movie like the old ones so that we could ignore the ones in the series we wanted to, in the same way and for the same reason that Star wars episode 7 did with the prequel trilogy everyone was ignoring. Not saying the movies weren't any good, but the first three are their own series.

When the man in the morgue said, "That's not him," he was expecting to find John Michael Kane, Jason's alias, who apparently died two weeks earlier. As Jason is not dead, the person in the morgue was a different body. This was part of the cover as the government agency initially assumed he was dead but didn't have a body.

  • @randybass8842
    @randybass8842 9 месяцев назад +1

The man killed in the stairwell by the sniper was the man Jason was originally supposed to kill, before the start of the movie. We're not clued into his story, but perhaps he was a leader of a country who was pushed out of power, and wants back in power, perhaps by any means possible.

Jason Bourne's fighting and tactical "memories" was all basically muscle memory or ingrained in him through training. His body and mind would react to situations (violent or tactical) and respond with the appropriate skill. The military relies on this sort of training to bypass anxiety and panic situations so the body reacts without "thought".

Maps are important. I took cartography classes at mizzou and served in the military for 20 years. There are wonderful systems created for people before computers. North is always the top of a map. There is a list of cities alphabetically on the back and will have a grid number so you can use the grid on the front to find every city. Interstates are numbered lower on the east coast and get bigger as they go west. Same with lower number interstates in the south and their numbers get bigger going north. East-west interstates are all even numbers, so north-south are all odd. Mile markers show how close you are or from the next state and the exits are exactly the same as the miles marker. So exit 35 is at mile marker 35 and you are also 35 miles from a state line. Exit 121 is 121 miles from a state line. There are way more systems in place but these are some of the foundational ones. We all walk around with $1k phones and the internet. All the world's knowledge is at our fingertips. Never too late to learn anything. I'm learning 3 foreign languages at once right now.

Good reaction! Some clarifications: first, Jason Bourne''s abilities are a matter of intensive training, not any technological enhancements. To get to that level, you'd have to start with someone with the needed physical, cognitive, and psychological capacities - then it would take years of training by an organization with the resources to provide all the types of expertise he would learn. Once he was trained, maintaining his fitness and skills would be a full-time job.
Re the scene where he climbs down the wall at the embassy in Zurich, that would actually have been the easiest of the impressive things we saw him do. If you go to any climbing gym, you'll see people climbing up and down and laterally on more challenging surfaces - my wife is a climber, and I used to be, and even though I was an average climber at best I could have done that without breaking a sweat. My wife could probably climb that route and make a phone call while she was doing it. Those hand and foot holds were easy. It just looked scary because he was starting from several stories up, but you just take it one move at a time.
Of couirse, there are numerous places where you have to just suspend your disbelief and eat your popcorn - for instance, if Wombosi had shot him twice at close range, those bullets would have gone straight through him and he'd have been dead before he hit the water (I'm a gun guy too, and that was what made me point at the screen and say, "Wait a minute!") - but hey, it's a great movie, and all the actors involved gave solid performances. The other Bourne films are also excellent..

For an all-time favorite movie, I tend to be a little harder on the reactor, but I enjoyed this. I just kept thinking... doesn't she (Steph) know what the C.I.A. is? Or, what an 'Operative Spy/Assassin' might be? (not enhanced, just trained) That was frustrating, but still, I liked the reaction. The sequels do provide the answers to the questions that remain. Niki Parsons (Julia Styles) preformed admin operations for the Paris CIA office. And Jason Bourne is still a problem for the CIA who would be better to be dead rather than unaccounted for. BTW, I could recommend dozens of movies that feature Matt Damon. The first recommendations are the remaining two Bourne Trilogy films; Bourne Supremecy and Bourne Ultimatum. However, Matt Damon stars in 2 movies that are in my personal Top 10... you mentioned; 'Saving Private Ryan,' which is an all-time great, but the other is called; ' Good Will Hunting.' I think that one is one of the best of all-time.

CIA "Operative Spy/Assassin?" Hmm you realize this story is 100% total updated/gritty James Bond fantasy, right? Not to detract from it, because the novel and the film are both very good, but there are no CIA "superspies" looking like young, fit Matt Damons/Clive Owens traipsing through European cities amongst civilians, carrying seven passports, loads of cash, and other identifying information. They'd be clocked within days, pinched by either local authorities or the target's people within a week. Military-trained undercover CIA officers historically tend to work out in the field, with local forces, often rebels, in combat gear, training and building a local HUMINT knowledge base to attempt a coup d'état (or defend against one). The foreign agents in European city centers have deep cover stories, only one identity, and if they're carrying other identifying info, it's what's called "pocket litter," linked to the one identity. If they're outed, they're screwed, either exfil-ed back to desk work back at home plate, or worse.
If you actually met one of these agents (which you may well have, if you travel a lot), you'd think of them as something like "that nice, dorky middle-aged tourist I met at the airport bar, but I can't really remember their name or face." They blend in, and that's known as the "little grey man" concept. "Never be memorable."

didn't read other comments; sorry if someone else said this. the first three films are based on books from one of the finest espionage writers of all time, Robert Ludlum, born in New York in 1927 and author of 27 thriller novels, in at least 40 countries, in at least 33 languages. "The Bourne Identity" was published in 1980, "The Bourne Supremacy" in 1986, and "The Bourne Ultimatum" in 1990--the trilogy of films (of the same titles) were released in 2002, 2004, and 2007, respectively. after Ludlum's death from heart attack in 2001, at the age of 73, the Bourne series was continued in print, with permission from Ludlum's family, by author Eric Van Lustbader who wrote "The Bourne Legacy" 2004 and ten other Bourne titles from 2007 to 2017, and by author Brian Freeman who wrote 2 more Bourne titles in 2020 & 2021. the film "The Bourne Legacy", starring Jeremy Renner, was released in 2012. in 2016, the film "Jason Bourne" was released, starring (and produced by) Matt Damon.
the character Nicolette Parsons, played by Julia Stiles, is a former agent (for the American "company" Treadstone), who was contracted to do forward (on site, in Europe) electronic intelligence monitoring and communications. she was originally written to be killed in the first Bourne screenplay, but the (Identity) director called her back and saved her character's life with additional dialog. her character was created for the first film, and does not appear in any of the Robert Ludlum novels.

I concur. I don't like Paul Greengrass's style, generally, so I'd rather watch Legacy than Ultimatum. (The way Legacy is shot, one could potentially skip Ultimatum. It'd be an interesting expeiment to see how hard the plot would be to follow if one did that...) There's nothing wrong with Legacy except that it's a "Bourne" movie in which Bourne only appears by reference. Even though Greengrass directed Supremacy, it's still a great follow-up to the first movie. The only bad movie in the series is Jason Bourne (2016), which is sub par garbage.

It was all natural ability. The reference to him being a "$30 million investment" was the cost of the intensive training program, which you'll learn more about in the next two sequels. This was originally planned as a trilogy, but you know how Hollywood is. They run out of ideas for other movies and come back to what worked years after the fact. Julia Stiles has more of a roll in the next movie.

Jason Bourne story is centered around a man suffering from amnesia, initially unaware of his true identity and past. As the story progresses, Bourne gradually unravels his forgotten life while simultaneously dealing with threats from various government agencies and other covert organizations. You are gone love the 5 part movie except Bourne 4 is different because the main character is different one (Jermey Runner) but on the final Bourne 5 Matt will be back as Jason .Truly Amazing movie !!

Jason Bourne is a fantasy movie. In reality, an operative needs to blend in and has to look average and not stand out from the crowd. A good looking young man isn’t an ideal candidate for a spook. He can be an analyst though but not a field operative. An operations officer with Bourne’s capabilities and/or mission sets has to be older. They just don’t assign some rookie to be a NOC spook with direct action capability.

Also, others might have commented already, but these movies are a little different from the books with his amnesia being kind of one of the few similarities.

First of all, great reaction! I love this trilogy of movies and it sounds like you will, too. If I can make a small suggestion, comment more during the action and not as much during the dialogue. With an action movie like this, you will have plenty of sequences to talk through and you won't miss important details when the action stops. That being said, you are very entertaining to watch/listen to and I hope you have success with your channel. I'll be watching more as you put them out.

Nice reaction. With regard to Marie taking the money from a complete stranger.....well first off Marie doesn't have a conventional lifestyle, is a bit "off grid" and could do with the money.
She probably has had run-ins with the police herself, has street smarts and the ability to judge character.
So, while she's aware the police are after him she assesses that it's probably for a financial crime (bank robbery, embezzlement or similar) rather than him being an axe murderer type fugitive?

2:06 comment, on editing. I've thought on this. Perhaps skip through the video so you have less to edit...like pick a set amount of time a perhaps choose a set number of segments you'll film in limited amounts this way you'll almost only record what you'll keep.-Ernie Moore Jr.
Add a transition between segments perhaps to help time manage.-Ernie Moore Jr
