Thank you for this awesome lesson. I learned Wipeout when I was about the same age as the original artists. I learned it in the key of E because that's how my dad and uncle played it. Dad still has his 1968 Fender Jazzmaster sunburst that he was playing when he taught me. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Nice love wipeout... Damian just got your Ultimate Rockabilly Guitar dvd. It’s Awesome.. The close ups on the fretboard and your explanation of the material are so easy to follow. Thanks for putting that together. Thank you for the thank you note as well... nice touch. Those of you that are thinking of getting this dvd don’t hesitate, it’s well worth it. Damian, Thank you and keep up the great work.
This is one of those songs that I had been playing all my life but never actually learned all the way through. It's a classic to teach the younger generation. Great job as always. Love the tabs.
I've got both of your Rockabilly DVDs Damian and I can honestly say if you take time to learn all the solos it really does turn you into a "Rockabilly ninja". All the the licks you present are melodic, follow the chords and are interchangeable in different chords and keys. It's all brilliant stuff that you can apply to your own playing straight away. You truly are the guvna. Thanks for the inspiration. I've also loved watching your youtube Documentaries about the history of the music. Please make some more!
Thanks for the 'mini lesson' on the start up of the Surfaris.........I put my digi delay pedal in with my 6G15 Reverb unit and 5F2A Amp, both home built and sounds phenomenal !.....the only thing I miss is surfing @ 75 yrs young, gravity etc has put a hurt on these old bones.....BUT I'm still 'STOKED' on surf music !
Hi Damian. Loved this lesson. I also downloaded your Ultimate Rockabilly course, which is unbelievable. You really are a groovy hep cat. Was just wondering, could you do more rockabilly rhythm lessons? The ones out there are so dull and clichéd. Would love to learn some cool rhythm chords, Bacci style, which is where it's at.
Thank you for watching the video. There wasn't any OD on the solo. I was definitely hitting the strings a lot harder when I was playing the solo and playing more gently during the rest of the song. If I remember correctly I did not use any pedals on this performance. Just had the amps reverb all the way up and I believe I had put some additional reverb on the guitar through my DAW after it was recorded. Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Thanks again Damian, long time since I played that tune ..... have you ever considered doing a lesson of the solo for Hello Mary Lou by James Burton? I kinda play it , but it never quite sound right.
Thank you for watching. Hello Mary Lou is a classic. I'll definitely put it down in my request book. I had a chance to open a show for Jerry Lee Lewis with James Burton on guitar once back in the 90s. Talking with James was a real treat and he came across as a really genuine nice guy. A great memory for me. :) Keep on Rockin' Damian
awesome; thanks for posting; the solo was spot on! BTW; is there a lesson for "Louie, Louie" - Kingsmen? Trying to learn that solo. I will check your archive and purchase.
Thank you Nick. Currently I do not have a lesson on the solo to "Louie, Louie". But I do plan on doing a lesson on that eventually. :) Keep on Rockin' DAMIAN
Love it!!! And you’re holding the only Fender I miss in my guitar collection.and IMO, the most catchy songs are always made on the spot, just think of We Will Rock You... and 0-3-5. (Kidding about the 0-3-5) 😅 EDIT: I wore your t-shirt to work today. I knew this was going to be a Damian Bacci day.
Love surf music, but this is primarily a drummer's workout. That's why so many country bands play it. As Terry Adams of NRBQ said, "It's a stupid instrumental". Please do some more adventurous surf stuff. How about Soul Surfin'" by John Fortunato?
This song might be rather simple but it's also brilliant & joyous as heck, a great song to learn for beginners. An e=m2 of rock. As far as surf is concerned, more is always better, but let's give credit where credit is due, thanks & Damien & The Surfaris 4ever♡
cool man, Cool. I've loved this song since childhood. Thank You for the respectful history including the quote from MLK. In the solo I like how the chords are followed with Double stops and Dominant 7th on the I & IV, and on V there's a major 6th stabbed in there too.

other than OD on the solo what effects were on the clean section?

Beautiful clean tone. Nice pristine playing. I'm guessing by the sound you're using pretty hefty strings?
